Marion P. Hammer

Ms. Marion P. Hammer

Tallahassee, Florida --(AmmoLand.com)- Marion P. Hammer has an outstanding history of service to the NRA and of protecting Second Amendment rights. Ms. Hammer is up for re-election to the NRA Board.

Marion Hammer is a Past President of the National Rifle Association. In 1995, she became the first woman President in the Association’s 125 year history. She lead NRA through some of it’s darkest days — protecting the NRA from those who would tear it down from within and helping hold the line against anti-gun US President Bill Clinton.

Among her many awards, she received the National Safety Council’s “Outstanding Community Service Award for 1993″ for creating NRA’s Eddie Eagle gun safety program for children. The program has now been taught to 22 million children.

She was also a key developer and promoter of other programs to include the NRA’s Youth Hunter Education Challenge, Youth Education Summit and the Refuse to be a Victim.

She was the key in the funding raising and was the motivation behind the construction of the National Firearms Museum in Fairfax, Virginia to preserve America’s heritage for future generation. At her insistence, construction of the museum began when she became president and she cut the ribbon opening the museum before she left office.

Today, she is a legislative lobbyist who is responsible for Florida’s pro-gun lobbying effort. Marion is a staunch defender/protector of the right to keep and bear arms. She is a legendary pro-gun leader who is also an author, community volunteer, public speaker, safety instructor, and media spokesperson for the Second Amendment rights of all law-abiding Americans.

Her accomplishments are many. Under Marion Hammer’s leadership, Florida has been on the front line leading the fight to protect the rights of target shooters, recreational shooters, hunters, collectors and citizens who own firearms for home and self-defense.

Her legislative accomplishments include killing restrictive anti-gun measures and passing pro-gun legislation including:

  • Right to Carry National Model Legislation;
  • Firearms Preemption;
  • Concealed Carry Reciprocity;
  • Hunter Protection;
  • Shooting Range Closure Protection;
  • Gun Manufacturer Lawsuit Protection;
  • Gun Registration Prohibition;
  • Shooting Range Environmental Lawsuit Protection,;
  • “Castle Doctrine” National Model legislation;
  • No-Net-Loss of Hunting Lands;
  • Hunter Voter Registration;
  • Right to Carry in National Forests;
  • No Confiscation of firearms during a state of emergency;
  • Privacy for Concealed Weapons license holders;
  • Guns In Vehicles in Parking Lots Protection and more

She was inducted into Florida’s Women’s Hall of Fame in 2005. Her awards and accomplishments are many and she continues to serve gun owners with dedication and passion.

Consider voting for Marion P. Hammer for the NRA Board of Directors.

  1. Until the nra start’s helping member’s who were faulsly had an injunction against domestic violence put on them an had their entire gun collection taken from them an lost their c & r license because a family member lied an had no 3 rd party contact put on the injungtion so as the person could not hire a lawyer i will never join another gun rights group!

    This is the most abused issue in the legal; system there is no investigation into the claims the person makes, they just walk in pay a fee lie an have you 2 nd amendment rights taken away! Until someone starts to investigate these unlawful acts i will be a member of every anti-gun group and i have others who have had the same thing done to them an as members of nra we got no help or no reply from the nra, so we wil fight like hell to support anti-gun groups to take away everyone elses 2nd amendment rights! 3. Hey Robert,
    Just because you’re pissed off at the LEGAL system and the police, don’t take it out on the rest of law abiding citizens who need the rights the NRA helps to keep. If you have been unlawfully accused and arrested for a crime you did not commit, get an ATTORNEY.
    Also, before you post something to a website comments board, learn to spell and to use correct grammar.

  5. I am in the situation as Robert, I married a Russian lady brought her to the states to learn she did mot want to be a wife she just wanted to get to America. We were only7 lmarried for 6 months and I was in the process of sending her back to Ruslsia. She stuck herself jwith a pencil and had to squeeze it jto get a single little drop of blood. She called the sheirffs office I was arrested and spent the jnight in jail she went to an abused shelter jjwhich had a rule she had to get an injunction against me. Being retired from lthe military and retired from Florida lawenforcement the judge allowed me to keep my weapons collection. I did not realise at the time in Fla an injuction is forever. The state 5 years later refused to renew my concealed weapons perlmit.During mly time in law enforcement I sent a large amount of people to prison ,When you retire from Law enforcement in fla you are given a concealed carry permlit automatically Wonder why. By the way the states attorney would not file domestic violence charges because they were competly false. Now I have to hire an attorney to get the injunction lifted and I can’t afford it. So Jennifer some people have a right to be upset at some of the laws.

  7. What is going on here, people? This has NOTHING to do with this article! Folks, the first step here is to stop having idiots for relatives. Second, like Jennifer mentioned, please learn how to use proper English and grammar before posting your life story all over the internet, especially in places where it doesn’t belong! This article is about the NRA and a competent member of society being elected to the board and you two are carrying on like a bunch of children who can’t wait to tell a secret!

    MOVING ON….. I felt this article was important enough to comment on even before I read the previous comments from those who obviously don’t belong on a mailing list supporting 2nd Ammendment rights. I think it is important to support ANYONE who is in a higher position than most to be able to defend our inalienable rights and freedoms, and I take my hat of to this woman who has made it a mission to do so. Thank you and you have my support!!!

  9. Thank you Jennifer & Garcia…It is apparent that Robert and Dean are missing what the context of this article is about. Ms. Hammer has done wonders for the NRA publicly and privately. Her abilities to look at the whole picture to allow outsiders to see a better image of what the NRA does is just what we need. Public awareness. The NRA lobbies for the whole, not the individual. Fight your own personal battles, maybe if you didn’t put yourself in the situations you were in, you wouldn’t be where you are now. Dean, buy American! Robert, you need to seriously look at your family life.

  11. eveyone who has had a injunction against domestic violance or a faulse charge of domestic violance placed on them, Do as I did after the NRA would not support me as a member, Join an support the Brady anti-gun group an others an let the NRA members get lawyer’s to try an get their gun right’s back! until The NRA step’s up an bring’s this subject to lite, or help’s a member, I WILL SUPPORT ALL ANTI-GUN LAWS AN EVEN GOVERNMENT CONFISCATION OF ALL TYPES OF GUNS FROM AMERICAN CITIZENS! AN FOR THE AXX XXXX WHO CHECK SPELLING AN THINK THEIR PERFECT= KISS MY XXX!

  13. Obviously Robert and Dean are both High. This is not a social networking site. If you had rights taken away, then you probably did something wrong. As previously stated by the other commenters, this article is about one Woman’s record and accomplishments, and Re-Election. nothing more, nothing less. one more thing. you don’t need spell check if you know how to spell.

  18. Paul on March 10th, 2010 at 12:22 AM
  19. Robert Fotheringham, shut up you clown. What the hell can the NRA do for your ”domestic violence” situation? Stop drinking you nutbag before you go postal. Try to take them, see what happens. Marion Hammer is a HERO!!!

  21. In reading the complaints from the two men one= who had an injunction against domestic violence put on him, I feel he has a just complaint about the N.R.A. not looking into this! Aren’t due’s paying members offered some type of legal help from the N.R.A. or do they just get a magazine every month? Yes he is right all a family member has to do is go lie an get an injunction against domestic violence = no crime committed an their firearms are taken an they are banned for life from owning even a bb gun because of a lie! being no crime was committed they are not even offered a lawyer if they can afford one because no criminal act was commetted! As a member I fell the N.R.A. MISLED HIM AN OTHER MEMBERS INTO THINKING THE N.R.A. PROTECTED IT’S MEMBERS!
