Students for Concealed Carry on Campus: Steger Petition
Virginia Tech –-(AmmoLand.com)- I was finally able to print the petition and get a few free minutes to take it over to Dr. Steger, so I headed toward Burruss – luck was on my side.
I ran into Dr. Steger on the way to his car, so I was able to engage him personally. I told him that we held some events last week, and that we created a petition to express our concerns to the University. So, here’s where it got interesting.
First thing, he smiles at me and says “I don’t know if you know this, but I own a few guns myself and enjoy shooting. … I haven’t been skeet shooting in a while, but I need to get better at it.”
I promptly invited him to join us at the range anytime 🙂
Second, I handed him the petition.
He looked back up from it and said “I want to again tell you how much we appreciate the way you and your organization conduct yourselves,” echoing comments we’ve heard before from the VP, Univ. Spokesman, the Provost, and a host of other administrators.
Seems our respectful yet firm approach has gotten attention but done so in a professional manner!
I think we’re being pretty effective! Great momentum heading into the 2010 Legislative Session, for sure. Keep at it everyone!
