Max Michel, Jr., Team SIG Captain, On Track to Qualify for Team USA for the 2011 IPSC World Shoot XVI
EXETER, NH –-(Ammoland.com)- Team SIG Captain, Max Michel, walked away with the US IPSC National Open Division title after competing at the 2010 US IPSC National Championship, held at the Mid-Carolina Rifle Club near Columbia, SC on October 1 – 2, 2010.
The US IPSC Nationals, a Level III IPSC Match, serves as one of four qualifier matches to select the US teams for the 2011 IPSC World Shoot XVI in Greece. More than 100 competitors from across the country came out to participate in the match, which consisted of 12 stages and ran under IPSC rules.
Competing against 47 division competitors, Michel finished in the top three in all twelve stages, including nine first place finishes, to help clinch his Open title with a score of 938.8411, or 100%.
Michel is currently in the lead to not only make the U.S team, but also to be Team Captain. He has been a member of USA since 1999, winning the Gold Medal each time. The final team will be selected after the 2010 USPSA Nationals, in which Michel will be competing. This year they will be held at the Desert Sportsman in Las Vegas, NV from October 8-16, 2010.
“I was unable to attend last year’s US IPSC Nationals, so this was an important event for me. The selection process takes your 3 highest scores of the 4 selection matches and with me not competing last year, it put me in a hard spot with no margin to fail,” commented Michel.
“However, I am excited to be in the lead for Team Captain with winning the USPSA Nationals last year, as well as the IPSC Nationals this year. I am looking forward to competing with my peers once again in Las Vegas to determine this year’s USPSA National Champion, as well as Team USA.”
