Manasquan, NJ –-(Ammoland.com)- As NRA magazines containing ballots for the 2014 NRA Board of Directors Election begin arriving in people’s mail boxes AmmoLand Shooting Sports News has begun to publish letters of support requests from this years current ballot candidates.

(NRA members, if you got a ballot, you’re eligible to vote if you didn’t you aren’t and need to upgrade your membership to more than five years or better yet, Life Member).

The following is a statement from Curtis Jenkins who is running for re-election. Please take some time to read his biography and add his name for consideration as one of this years ballot choices.

Curtis S. Jenkins

Now serving in my second term as a member of the NRA Board of Directors, I have been nominated for reelection by the NRA Nomination Committee and endorsed by the Committee for Strong Leadership, among others.  I am a relentless defender of the Second Amendment and a strict constitutionalist.

A former legislator, I was the author of the nation’s first law prohibiting frivolous lawsuits against firearm manufacturers, versions of which were afterwards adopted by 33 states and by Congress, with the federal version of the law, the “Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act”, being signed by President Bush in 2005.  At that time, cities such as Chicago, New York City, Atlanta, and many more were filing lawsuits against firearms manufacturers seeking to bankrupt the companies.  Due to the critical importance and national impact of this bill and my extensive pro-Second Amendment legislative activity during 16 years as a member of the Georgia House of Representatives, I was awarded a special NRA legislative leadership award.

Currently, as a member of the NRA Board of Directors, I serve on the Legislative Policy, Legal Affairs (Vice Chair), and Finance committees and on the Board of the NRA Civil Rights Defense Fund – committees charged with responsibilities related to the NRA’s legal actions, budget, and legislative lobbying efforts.  We have realized significant victories in these areas during the last six years, with crucial victories in the U.S. Supreme Court and the Congress, and I will work vigorously to continue to keep those victories coming.

At this critical juncture in our nation’s history, with Bloomberg and his cronies attacking the Second Amendment everyday and our freedom to own and carry firearms hanging in the balance, we cannot let up . .  . and I will not!

When I was 13 years old, I joined the NRA as a Junior Member, becoming a Life Member at age 17.  Now a Benefactor Member, I am a lifelong hunter, shooter, collector, fisherman and outdoorsman.  I am also a NRA Certified Instructor in the Rifle and Shotgun disciplines.  A referral attorney for both the NRA and the Police Benevolent Association, I am a member of the Individual Rights Section, the Legislative Advisory Committee, and the Board of Governors of the State Bar of Georgia.

I am a member of a number of NRA state affiliates and other groups, including the Georgia Sport Shooting Association, Texas State Rifle Association, New York State Rifle and Pistol Association, California Rifle and Pistol Association, and Fifty Caliber Shooting Association.  Previously, I served on the Board of Directors of the Georgia Wildlife Federation, as a member of the Georgia Legislative Sportsman’s Caucus, as an Auxiliary Deputy Sheriff, as President of the Monroe County Sportsman’s Federation, and as a Boy Scout leader helping to facilitate young shooter training.

As a college student, I began speaking before decision makers, including committees of the Georgia General Assembly, in support of our Second Amendment rights.  Over the years I have continued my efforts as an effective voice for our freedoms, participating in interviews with many major news outlets, including ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, CNN, NPR, Wall Street Journal, New York Times, and others.

Please vote for Curtis Jenkins on the ballot included in your February “American Rifleman”, “American Hunter”, or “America’s 1st Freedom” magazine.

Now, let me ask for one more favor – please share this request with every NRA member you know – family, friends, club members.  Please pass along this information to others at shoots, gun shops, gun shows, gun clubs, or via blogs, forums, email lists, etc.  Ask them to join you in voting for CURTIS JENKINS.

Thank you in advance for your consideration, your vote, and for your assistance in getting the word out to others to vote for CURTIS JENKINS.

Sincerely,
Curtis S. Jenkins
