Hookstown, PA -(AmmoLand.com)- Cooksburg Dry Goods, located on River Road, ¼ mile from the Clarion River Bridge in Cooksburg, PA, will host a book signing for Robert Hilliard, author of the five-star rated outdoor book, A Season on the Allegheny.

The event will be held Sunday, December 13, from 1-3 PM. A limited number of books will be available for sale on site.

A Season on the Allegheny, called “a well-researched, well-written account” by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, is a rollicking account of one year spent hunting on the Allegheny National Forest, where the author tracks down more than deer, turkey, and grouse. He captures the forest’s magnificent past and finds the people who are still making history on the Allegheny today. Mr. Hilliard also pursues the many controversies that swirl around Pennsylvania’s only National Forest, including anti-logging and anti-drilling protests, proposed Wilderness designations, and eco-terrorism.

More than 25 reviewers have rated A Season on the Allegheny five stars on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Smashwords.

One reviewer wrote, “What I found unique and unexpected about A Season is the depth of the author’s writing. His hunting quests mixed history, culture, land and wildlife with a personal introspection and humor.”

Other reviewer comments include: “At times, I found myself laughing out loud and at other times I was able to visualize the beauty of nature,” “A refreshing mix of humor, history, humanism and hunting tales adds up to enjoyable reading,” “I really enjoyed this book cover to cover,” and “Hated for the book to come to an end.”

Since first being published in 2012, A Season on the Allegheny has been a Top 10 bestseller in both the Hunting and Conservation categories on Amazon. It has been featured in numerous newspaper articles and Mr. Hilliard has appeared on radio stations in Pittsburgh, Butler, Clarion, and Ridgway to discuss the book. A Season on the Allegheny is available in both paperback and ebook editions.
