Covington, VA -(Ammoland.com)- VCDL sued Katie Couric and other responsible parties for the film “Under the Gun” for defamation in Federal District Court in Richmond, Virginia!
As you have probably heard and has been widely reported in the media, the “documentary” contains manipulated footage that makes it look like we were stumped by a question on background checks, when in reality, we immediately began responding. I’m attaching a press release about the lawsuit, and answering some questions you may have about it below.
Q: Why did the VCDL file this lawsuit?
· It’s the only way to hold Couric and her people accountable.
· Couric has publicly admitted that the film was misleading and misrepresented the VCDL, but the filmmakers refuse to fix it or to stop promoting and distributing it.
Q: What does the VCDL hope to accomplish with the lawsuit?
· Hold the filmmakers accountable for misleading audiences and misrepresenting us.
· Compensate the VCDL and the VCDL members who were harmed by the film.
· Set the record straight.
· Advance our mission to defend your right to defend yourself.

· Please consider making a contribution to help hold Couric accountable and to help the VCDL defend your right to defend yourself. Unfortunately, filing such a lawsuit is expensive, but we simply cannot let this manipulation and intentional misrepresentation stand!

By the way criticism of the government is allowed BUT criticism of the Constitution is not and is considered as Sedition or a Traitors act and has a sentence of 20 years or execution. This is a historical fact.

Every time I see a post about state based citizen’s defense leagues, I have to advocate that you donate to your state’s CDL. If your state is amazing, donate to NY or California’s CDLs – They are always in great need.

Living and fighting against the California legislators with their unconstitutional usurpation of our Constitutional rights…particularly their dismantling of the 2nd Amendment, is an expensive and long, drawn out process. The corruption from the governor, the legislative branch right into the judicial branch is destroying California at all levels. All California Citizens have to do to stop this crazy crap is to file charges against those who publicly are preaching against the 2nd amendment with Sedition and possibly even being a traitor. These laws are on the books and some have been tried on these laws. If you fight against any Constitutional item then you are guilty of Sedition and can be considered as an enemy of the US. @OM, Brother, I agree with your sentiments, but things are not as easy as you think: citizens do not file charges, prosecutors do. Sedition is criticism of the government. There is no law against criticizing government. We criticize the various governments every day. Treason is giving aid and comfort to the enemy during time of war. We have not declared war since 1941. The electoral college is supposed to vet presidential candidates for qualification to be president. You are partially right. But it takes a citizen or group to begin the action against a public servant with Criminal charges. Although the Electoral College has a designed job, it is in violation of the Constitution in that your vote is nullified and really does not count then. The EC member for any given district can legally vote the way they want not the way you want.
