California DOJ Pushes New “Assault Weapons” Regulations

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -(Ammoland.com)- Firearms Policy Coalition (FPC) has issued the following statement regarding the latest California Department of Justice (DOJ) proposed regulations on so-called “assault weapons”:

Once again, the California DOJ and Attorney General Xavier Becerra have used 11th-hour tactics to push its anti-gun agenda, this time by releasing new proposed “assault weapons” regulations right before a major holiday.

FPC has published the new proposed regulations at BulletButtonBan.com — a Web site it established in 2016 for tracking the new California assault weapon laws and regulations — where members of the public can use FPC’s grassroots action tools to submit written comments to DOJ regarding the proposed regulations. A public hearing on the new regulations is scheduled for 10 a.m. on January 8, 2018, at the Resources Building Auditorium in Sacramento.

Last December, the California DOJ submitted its first attempt at “assault weapons” regulations under the Office of Administrative Law (OAL) “File & Print” process, which means that the DOJ believed the regulations were not subject to public notice or comment. However, thousands of FPC members and Second Amendment supporters sent letters opposing the secret process through FPC’s grassroots tools and, without further comment, the DOJ withdrew the regulations near the end of OAL review period.

Then, in May, the DOJ re-submitted regulations under the same “File & Print” process. Those regulations were summarily rejected by OAL a little more than a month later. Following that, the DOJ submitted a virtually-identical set of regulations under the “File & Print” process, which OAL approved in July.

Now, the Department is attempting to promulgate a new regulation to apply the July regulations to all aspects of the State’s “assault weapons” laws, including for purposes of criminal prosecutions.

FPC’s attorneys are hard at work reviewing the regulations and have been instructed to take every appropriate legal action to defend California gun owners and individual liberties.

Earlier this year, FPC was forced to sue the DOJ over the Department’s actions to block access to public records and a previous version of the regulations.

Firearms Policy Coalition (www.firearmspolicy.org) is a 501(c)4 grassroots nonprofit organization. FPC’s mission is to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States, especially the fundamental, individual Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms.

@Wild Bill, I read an article today that Pres. Trump has 5 ready picks for the US Supreme Court, think 2 of those were already confirmed to Circuit Courts. Maybe Kennedy thinking about packing it in again? Granny Ruth sas she is never retiring from the Court, but she’s 84 now…anything can happen. Sad state of affairs as 5-6 good 2nd. Amendment petitions were denied in the last 6 months or so: Peruta v. California; Binderup v. Sessions; Nicholas Purpura vs. Chris Christie, Governor of New Jersey; Kolbe v. Hogan; Florida open carry case.

The other Jim

And the Supreme Court failed us again today… Kolbe v. Hogan

Wild Bill

@TOJ, What do you mean?

Wild Bill

@TOJ, Oh, now, I see what you mean!

Dennis Rymon

I’m not comfortable with them using the phrase, “Assault Weapon” when they are targeting firearms. Shovels were historically used as assault weapons during WWI.

Wild Bill

R, I am not comfortable with them targeting firearms.

Lets see …. I posted a Comment and AMMOLAND has not allowed it to be read … WHY ?

OBVIOUSLY THE ILLEGAL ALIENS AND COMMUNISTS IN CALIFORNIA ARE ATTEMPTING ONCE AGAIN TO ATTACK OUR 2ND AMENDMENT RIGHTS. OBVIOUSLY THE PEOPLE IN THE STATE LEGISLATURE DON’T KNOW THE MEANING OF “SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED”! IT IS ALSO OBVIOUS TO ME THAT CALIFORNIA IS DENYING THE CITIZENS A “REPUBLIC” FORM OF GOVERNMENT AS GUARANTEED BY THE US CONSTITUTION! PERSONALLY I HAVE COME TO THE CONCUSSION THAT THE ONLY REMEDY TO THE TYRANNY US CITIZENS IN CALIFORNIA ARE FACING IS BY USING OUR FIREARMS TO RID OUR STATE OF THE LAWMAKERS WHO CHOOSE TO REPRESENT AND ENABLE FOREIGN NATIONALS WHO HAVE ILLEGALLY… Read more »

Oh, they know! They just don’t care. They have their agenda and it does not include all of the people, it only includes those hey approve of. Every one of them took an oath as a public servant… Oath of Office in the State of California He who cheats on an oath acknowledges that he is afraid of his enemy, and he thinks little of God. ~~ Plutarch If you are a public servant in the State of California or any city, town, county or municipality thereof and are not abiding by your oath of office, you are operating outside… Read more »

Looks me like ya’ll need to get busy voting these Idiots out of their CA. offices…and real fast like at that.

While you still have the right to vote in CA.

I WOULD BE PLEASED TO JOIN A MILITIA TO RID CALIFORNIA OF ALL THE COMMIE LEGISLATORS AND CHIEF IMBICILE COMMIE JERRY BROWN, A LIBERAL TURD. FIRST THING HITLER DID AFTER TAKING POWER WAS TO TAKE AWAY GUNS FROM ALL PEOPLE SO THEY COULD NOT RESIST FASCIST RULE.

Mark Alcorn

Instead of continually fighting against all of these proposed constitutional rights violations that are constantly being submitted by Brown, Feinstein, Pelosi , Newsom , how about a campaign to recall or vote out these political hacks?

DaveW

How about PROSECUTION? And hit every last one of them where it counts. For example, in CA, the present dictatorship should have to pay back every cent they have received in pay and allowances, and benefits since being elected. They should further have to pay damages to every citizen whose rights have been infringed. They should have to repay all monies which were diverted from their intended recipients in order to support the economic invasion for education, medical treatment, etc. Further, every one of them should be immediately removed from office and prohibited from ever holding public service positions in… Read more »

Don’t come to Texas with your California liberalism. Since the mass migrations of Californian and Mexican liberal beliefs Texas has begun to suffer similarly. While we have stronger pro 2nd support, we have suffered hits like Austin partaking in sanctuary city thus making life there more difficult. Until liberalism is far removed from the political scenes as well as a lid to control multiculturalism back down to levels that dont make American values hit the extinction list. California has imploded and should likely go ahead and succeed.

Michael Johnson

Well guess what , MORON…..liberals are not leaving Kali for Texas, FOOL, they like Kali, why would they leave it? Good conservative constitutional lovers ARE leaving in droves….along with their $$$. So pull it OUT, we are on the same side, Idiot!!!

Jerry’s master plan is to take all the guns from the general public and let the criminals out of prison. A perfect formula for chaos!

The only time I was in California was when I was stationed at Fort Ord and it wasn’t because I wanted to be in California. It is a beautiful place, but not somewhere I would ever choose to inhabit. As such, I have no interest in what happens there. Politically, I’m embarrassed it is a part of the country I love, but if it can be kept from spreading, then it can become whatever kind of liberal left-wing Never-Never land the people there want to turn it into so long as it stays there.

DaveW

You, and everyone else, should be concerned with what happens here. If they can get away with violating our constitutional rights, they can sure take yours down the road.

DaveW

By the way, you sure missed some beautiful country if all you experienced was Ft Ord. I live where my ancestors set down roots before the California Gold Rush. Clear streams, mountain lakes, snowcapped peaks, rivers teeming with salmon and trout, wildlife everywhere. Wild turkey graze the yards on my street, along with deer, bear, elk, mountain lions, lynx, eagles often swoop down and catch fish bigger than I catch. We have river otter, open grazing lands and so much more. I have Reno/Sparks to the right of me, Oregon above me, and the wide Pacific to my left. I… Read more »

California has long ago succeeded from the Union through it’s actions and continues to do so. They deny citizens of their First Amendment rights by allowing colleges to deny conservative speakers to express their opinions on their campuses (Berkley), they deny citizens of their Second Amendment right by infringing in many, many ways of their right to keep and bear arms. They refuse to assist the Federal Government in the enforcement of Federal Immigration laws. They allow illegal immigrants to vote. They give illegal immigrants access to Federal monies. The list goes on and on. These actions are exactly the… Read more »

RUN ! … take all you can with you and RUN …. this will be or is now a police state like no other with just a few running it with a supreme leader who has been in the sun too much ……. IDAHO has some wonderful scenic areas with all the things you need to live free….. they have great air, scenic mountains and if you need a Ion recharge it is just an easy drive over to …..ah…. OREGON and some wonderful coastline…. a few odd new folks running this state but not JERRY BROWN and his minions.

Jim Macklin

Please, stay in California and fight politically for your rights or in a few years you may have to actually fight to regain your rights.
If Californians move to Idaho, Arizona and New Mexico, many will bring their desire for “free government service” and the free states will go down the drain too!

Andrew

I agree with Jim, although I understand most those that live in Commiefornia, that subscribe to this site, probably understand the Constitution, and get it. But as a native Oregonian- stay home and fight the fight. Or leave California in California. Oregon AND Washington are already on the path becoming tax slave states with all the Californian immigrants forcing thier ideals down our throats!

James Higginbotham

yeo Jim.
that’s what happened to southWest Montana, they brought their insane Kalifornia SOCIALIST CRAP THERE.

SuperG

Oregon is full of LibTards too. They flee California after their liberal utopia becomes too infested with hood-rats rampaging through their communities. They are easy to spot here, as they usually tail-gate for no reason. We have a new law that lets anybody accuse you of being mentally unstable ex-parte (meaning you don’t get to defend yourself in court against the complaint) and then the police can come and confiscate any item they deem as being dangerous from your home. Then you have to hire an attorney and fight to get your property back. We are also a sanctuary state.… Read more »

As long as the state of california is a part of the United States of America I will not allow any hired creep like Jerry flush it down Brown to run me off. A real American would not run in the face of Tyranny but stand & fight. I did not deploy to foreign soil to fight for our freedoms to run in the face of an elected freedom hater like any of them in KommieMexiFornia government. You say RUN but if I run, your state will be next if we lose & since you are not willing to fight… Read more »

Russell,
