Springfield Armory Severs Ties with Dick’s Sporting Goods

Goodbye, Dick's. And good riddance.
Goodbye, Dick's. And good riddance.

GENESEO, IL-(Ammoland.com)- Springfield Armory is severing ties with Dick’s Sporting Goods and its subsidiary, Field & Stream, in response to their hiring a group for anti-Second Amendment lobbying.

This latest action follows Dick’s Sporting Goods’ decision to remove and destroy all modern sporting rifles (MSR) from their inventory. In addition, they have denied Second Amendment rights to Americans under the age of 21. We at Springfield Armory believe that all law abiding American citizens of adult age are guaranteed this sacred right under our Constitution.

It is clear where Dick’s Sporting Goods and its subsidiary, Field & Stream, stand on the Second Amendment, and we want to be clear about our message in response. Their position runs counter to what we stand for as a company. At Springfield Armory, we believe in the right and principles fought for and secured by American patriots and our founding forefathers, without question.

We will not accept Dick’s Sporting Goods’ continued attempts to deny Second Amendment freedoms to our fellow Americans.

About Springfield ArmorySpringfield Armory

In 1794, the original Springfield Armory was designated as our national armory by General George Washington, and began manufacturing muskets for the defense of our young, free Republic. This monumental institution went on to serve as a think tank for developing innovative firearms concepts and producing some of the most storied rifle platforms in our country’s history. The Armory functioned as a firearms supplier for every major American conflict until 1968 when the government sadly closed its doors. In 1974, two centuries after its inception, Springfield Armory Inc. in Geneseo, IL revived the iconic heritage of the Armory to carry on its legacy and restore the Springfield Armory name.

Springfield Armory Inc. engineers, manufactures and assembles their legendary M1A, 1911, 911 .380 and SAINT AR-15 lines of firearms in Geneseo, Illinois. Since 2001, Springfield Armory has enjoyed a strategic, collaborative partnership with the state-of-the-art factory in Croatia working hand-in-hand to develop and engineer the multiple award-winning line of XD polymer pistols that have become staples in the US marketplace. We strive to honor this responsibility as guardians of the original Springfield Armory legacy by manufacturing the highest quality firearms to enable responsible citizens to preserve their right to keep and bear arms in the defense of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

With an unmatched emphasis on craftsmanship, performance and exceptional customer service, our mission is to forge superior firearms and provide the tools necessary to defend individual freedoms and equality for those who embrace the rights and principles secured by our Founding Fathers. 1. There is not a gun problem in the US, but there is a Liberal Democrat problem in the US.
The party has turned into the Communist Party.
It is very important that the American voters see that the Communist Party does not succeed.

    2. Dicks has every right to do what it wants to do. Gun NUTS are just big babies and try to bully their way around, just like their Messiah Liddle Donnie does. Not working.

      1. Your right Dicks has their rights to pick the products they wish to carry. The same goes for it’s customer base and it’s vendors. Thus with this decision Dicks has lost almost 15% in total revenues which translates into a loss of customer base, apparently “Gun Nuts” have chosen to patronize elsewhere as it is their right to do so. Just my opinion and personal observations, but the left or anti-gun groups are the infantile one’s by calling everyone they disagree with names and insisting their opinion and rights are only thing that matters and the only voice be heard on any topic. Martin maybe your first amendment rights need to be removed due to the hate speach within your post? That’s what the left would demand, but the right would state your first amendment rights shall not be oppress. Just as you should not try to oppress the rights of others. I hope you find this informative and causes you to pause and think of you own rights as guaranteed by the constitution.

        1. Sorry Bro, but I got pretty lost in your response – amongst the 22-odd Grammatical, Word Usage, and Punctuation errors. Just my opinion and personal observations. Have a lovely First Amendment day!

      2. @MartinC, I am sorry to read that you are not working, but I still can not agree with you. I believe that Second Amendment activists are merely fighting back against the lost of freedom that has been brought to them by the societal malcontents, hard core unemployables, and democrat national socialists.

    3. Unless I missed it in my reading, doesn’t anyone remember how Springfield “stuck it” to Illinois firearms dealers and owners when they quit their fight against Lllinois SB1657? Now they have the balls to call out Dicks? Laughable…. screw them both!

    4. I never cared much for Dick’s Sporting Goods before, they didn’t have a good selection of guns, or ammo, and their pricing was out of line, so now I really have no reason to go to Dick’s. I can spend my money at more sociable places to purchase my firearms and ammo from, basically I didn’t care for their stores to start with so now I don’t have to go there at all now!!!!!!!!!

    5. I agree with Springfield’s stand against Dicks. No question there. What I’d like to see is Springfield bring back that factory from Croatia, bring the jobs back home and keep it American. Buy American not Croatian.

    6. The Dick heads at Dick’s need to remove “Sporting Goods” from their name. “Whining” and “Bedwetting” are not “sports”.

    7. More good news. I always liked the small shops/sole proprietors before going to the big box. Better customer service, better and more knowledgeable counter personnel. Dick’s has assisted and continues to assist small guns/sport shops in growing their businesses and bottom lines.

    8. Uncle Cracker:
Here a a few quotes from history to reinforce your comment.
“There was no point in seeking to convert the intellectuals. For intellectuals would never be converted and would anyway always yield to the **er, and this will always be “the man in the street.” Arguments must therefore be crude, clear and forcible, and appeal to emotions and instincts, not the intellect. Truth was unimportant and entirely subordinate to tactics and psychology.” ~ Joseph Goebbels

“This is the secret of propaganda: Those who are to be persuaded by it should be completely immersed in the ideas of the propaganda, without ever noticing that they are being immersed in it.” ~ Joseph Goebbels

“A lie told once remains a lie but a lie told a thousand times becomes the truth” ~ Joseph Goebbels

    9. While I applaud Springfield Armory I am missing something. How can they sever their ties with a bunch of dicks at Dicks if the company previously decided to stop selling firearms?

      1. its simple.

If some dude kept coming over to your house and harrassing your sister, would you just quite giving him your beer, or would you tell him to go away and not come back then take away his key and lock the door on him?

Dicks are not just making a BUSINESS decision to stop selling lead ballons. Fred Meyers have decided to close their remaining gun counters, but thney’ve been watching the numbers for a few years, and have already closed many of them depending on location because the numbers tell them to remove that product line and replace it with one that will perform better financially. Would anyone fault them for taking out all the plastic christmas trees and coloured LED light strings in January? Of course not But DIcks are making a strong statement that we Americans DO NOT and SHOULD NOT have the unrestricted right to own and use whatever firearms we decide we want to.Personally I do not own any AR style rifle… just don’t like them. But I will support and defend YOUR right to own four thousand of them, plus all the 100 and 50 and 30 round magazines you have the oney to buy and space to store them.

If you were 23 years of age and went to a Fred Meyers to buy a rack of beer, and the clerk checked your ID and told you she cannot sell you alcohol because WE have adopted a policy of no alcohol sales to anyone under 25, you’d be upset, and protest… and take your business elsewhere permanently.

    10. Dick’s has turned their backs on the very folks who are holding this country together. While I am encouraged by Springfield’s press release, I am also a little puzzled by what it does not say. I feel that Springfield could have used more forceful words by actually stating that they will no longer sell its firearms to the Dick’s Sporting Goods chain. Unfortunately, Springfield’s press release doesn’t say that; I wish it did, because that would have much more definitive impact.

You have my attention, Springfield! Now finish off Dick’s!

    11. I bought a M1A, great shooting rifle, got it from the new GANDER OUTDOORS only 1549 nice price great to people to deal with will go back there to buy more SPRINGFIELD firearms.

    12. ” ‘STIGMA — Guns and gun owners are the new ‘ Colored ‘ to be segregated. and cast out. It’s certainly not by accident as Eric Holder called for …” Brainwashing ” … young people at an early age to view guns like smoking and smokers —- ‘ All Bad , All The Time. ‘The 2ND Amendment is the Pinnacle of Freedom , if we continue to allow is erosion it will soon be GONE ! — No other Right in The Bill Of Rights is as regulated, and tied down. Can you imagine needing a permit to comment here ? The main danger we now see is both Democrats and RINO’s want to GUT Due-Process and strip guns from people based only on a flimsy allegation and with – NO HEARING. These ‘ ex-parte ‘ Soviet tactics called ” Extreme Risk Protection Orders ” would be abused almost instantly, from a jilted ex lover to the state using it to silence opposition…… Bad Precedent.
Equally disturbing is the B.A.T.F. simply changing definitions of firearm terms to magically ” Justify ” banning any part or gun it wishes.A bump – stock is now a machine gun … because we say it is . No matter your opinion on bump stocks , if they can do this they can BAN anything . ( No Abuse potential here ./s/ )
      Read the A.T.F. Kafkaesque reasoning here ;

      1. trump is the one who said confiscate the guns, due process later, how short you republicans memory is, President Obama never said that, lol

        1. Obama and many liberals have inferred or outright stated that they want confiscation of all firearms not just the black ones. Your statement is incorrect and a misconception of Trump’s actual statement your trying to quote and apparently spread lies about. Trump actual statement was in reference to bump stocks after the Las Vegas incident asking the DOJ and ATF to revisit their original ruling allowing the sale of them.

Liberals just can’t help themselves, seams they have a need to make stuff up and spreading lies to achieve their ultimate goal to repeal the second amendment.

        2. Obama didn’t say that, but he sold guns to the Mexican Cartels and Mafia. He must believe that gun control doesn’t work. What a surprise. He didn’t lie either, Benghazi, Health Care, Fast and Furious, Iran nuke deal, and just about anything he said.

          1. Yep you are right about Obama, if you like your health care you can keep it right? Also didn’t he suggest that we should follow Australia example as a starting point for the gun problem in the United States repetitively?

            1. Billions $ to Iran, $221,000,000 to Palestine hours before leaving office, 1st Calaphate established in the last 70 years, let ISIS transport oil because he didn’t want to harm the tanker drivers…That POS loved Islamic terrorist!
