ATF Proposes Step to Make a National Gun Registry Easier

Opinion

USA – -(AmmoLand.com)- The ATF has issued new rules that will alter the format for Form 4473’s and make it easier to create a national gun registry.

Here’s what we know. ATF agents have used annual inspections to electronically record the contents of Form 4473’s being kept by federal gun dealers. See here and here.

We also know that a software company exhibiting its wares at the Shot Show in Las Vegas has crafted a system where ATF can take the contents of all the dealer’s Bound Book entries by simply capturing them on a thumb drive.

The movie, Red Dawn, shows how the 4473 form can be used as a backdoor gun registry. In the movie, a Cuban commander orders an officer to obtain the 4473s from the sporting goods store, so the invading forces know who owns firearms.

(The Bound Book entries contain all of the buyer's personal information and gun information which is on a Form 4473.)

We know that billionaire “Midget Mike” Bloomberg has made Universal Background Checks/National Gun Registries the centerpiece of his $2 BILLION campaign for the presidency — presumably because, if everyone with a gun has a 4473, then everyone with a gun will be in the national gun registry being compiled by ATF, using its copies of 4473’s.

And we know that the ATF is now trying to put the names of gun owners on the same page of the 4473 as the identifying information of the gun. See here.

But if they’re successful with changing the 4473 in this way, it will be much easier for ATF to create a national gun registry by photographing paper documents.

ATF Changes Form 4473
ATF Changes Form 4473

So it appears that we have an answer to the almost inexplicable question of why ATF is crawling over glass now to reincarnate the format for the 4473 which was junked decades ago.

This is, of course, one piece of the National Gun Registry strategy.

But, given that ATF is required by law to receive comments between now and February 24, it is worth our time to let them know that we know what they’re up to.

So please click here to urge our federal government to REJECT the proposed changes to the 4473 form.

Again, let them know that bureaucrats shouldn’t be making it easier to register the firearms of law-abiding gun owners!

In liberty,

“THE RIGHT OF THE PEOPLE TO KEEP AND BEAR ARMS SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED.” That IS the law. ANYONE SUBVRTING THIS LAW IS CRIMINAL AND TREASONOUS. In the 1930’s, Hitler registered firearms “for a kinder, gentler nation.” He then had every registered firearm confiscated so that his citizenry had nothing to fight back with as he plunged his nation and the world into war. Every socialist, communist, demoncrapic left leaning rhino KNOWS they must disarm the citizenry before their ideology can have a national effect. Thus, gun control has never been about gun control, it’s all about people control. The… Read more »

Bill, these bastards will never go to court over their treasonous activities. They’ll never be abolished by our so called “government”. In fact they’ll be encouraged to wreak more havoc on the American peons, oops, I mean patriots, as this nation slips further into the grip of fascist communism. I’ve said it many times before: We’re NOT going to “vote” ourselves out of this predicament. The leftist communists will never give up their dream of complete control. Their sycophants are far too stupid and brainwashed to ever comprehend truth or the true meaning of freedom. This is a fight that… Read more »

Mark, I know it’s coming. Most all of us know it’s coming. Anyone within the sound of my voice who is not already prepared, you need to get that way. We know that socialism, communism, tyranny and terrorism are evil things and anyone who would throw in with them IS THE ENEMY. That includes the atfe. This nation is founded upon Judeo/Christian values, doctrine, commandments and mandates. That is why we have been blessed as we have. The BATF has been electronically recording 4473 forms since I held an FFL in 1992.
The BATF is unconstitutional and has a LONG history of murdering Americans and creating false evidence against Americans, especially Gunsmiths.

There is NO Constitutional authority for the BATF.

Governments are inherently corrupt the larger the government the larger the corruption. The US government is extremely large and extremely corrupt (the DOJ may right now have over 1000 President Trump haters in it). Anyone trying to get rid (drain the swamp) of the corruption could not or can not get it done in eight years it has taken at least seventy (70) years to get us this corrupt. Therefore, it appears to me it will take President Trump eight years and then who ever follows him eight years and maybe another conservative four or eight years to reach a… Read more »

The BATF murders Americans. It manufactures evidence to frame Americans. They feel they are the masters, after all cowardly Americans have NEVER stood their ground and refused to comply. Look at California, New York, Illinois, Massachusetts, Oregon, etc..
If Americans will NOT stand and fight for their Rights, do not be surprised when they are taken.
The communist democrats WILL NOT allow their slaves to be armed.

FOPA also forbids what happens in NY and NJ, not that it matters. Just see what happens when your plane gets diverted to JFK and YOU have to hand carry your luggage to an alternate flight. Authorities will be waiting for your hand to touch the handle of the suitcase that contains your legally locked and declared firearm. It is off to the pokey for you, and your firearm is gone forever. Tyrants will only understand with a bullet to the brain stem, while their hands are bound and they are on their knees at the edge of a large… Read more »

WHY the airlines refuse to forward the luggage inside the "sterile" secure area I do not know. I flew interline once, St Louis to LAX, on American, then LAX to SEA on Alaska, ticket bought as a through tidket. I had to claiim my suitcase, drag it over half a mile to the new terminal, recheck onto Alaska suffering through TSA once more. My checked handguns were an issue.. WHY? 100% right you are Captain. I’ve said basically the same thing for years now. It seems few listen and fewer still understand the true scope of our predicament. We are on the brink of slavery and servitude to an oppressive totalitarian communist regime that will have absolutely no qualms about killing anyone that doesn’t grovel and lick the jackboots of the dictators. We’re in the endgame, it’s time to man up and fight, or lay down and cower like a beaten dog. I choose to fight.

@Dos, The BATFE gave us nothing. The notice and comment period are required by the Administrative Procedures Act, a Congressional attempt to rein in the bureaucracies, several years ago. The agencies ignore the comments from the public. The agencies are out of control.

Not only is it ILLEGAL for the ATF to remove ALL registered 4473’s from a Dealers log(unless they shut down),this would surely break Federal Laws already codified. But, it seems the Govt doesn’t operate under the RULE OF LAW anymore, but they damn sure MAKE WE do so.

Here is the big question for Domburg and his squad. You can take all the legal guns away with legislation but, how are you going to get the guns away from the ones that commit the crimes? I forgot, they are the ones that will be on your side to make sure all the legal guns are taken away so your radical ideas are not met with resistance.

The 4473 DOES NOT stop or prevent “prohibited persons” from getting a gun. Criminals steal guns or buy them from their local drug dealer who barters. Even ATF, FBI and TSA leaves guns in cars for easy theft. But while we worry about 4473 being used to track gun owners the government also collects hunting licenses and some insurance companies require a list of make, model and SN. The 4473 is a “do something” law that has never worked. Crime did not go down. Worse, when a convicted felon is caught with a gun, the gun charge is dropped in… Read more »

I have a class 1 & 3 FFL. Going through numerous audits, never has an auditor taken pictures of any 4473 or transfer book. I certainly am not a drum beater for the ATF – NFA law from the 30’s was passed over emotions, not well thought out common sense, and hence the ATF was created under the Treasury Dept IRS to collect the $200 “tax” stamp. (Probably a small desk or two in a basement somewhere, only a couple civil servants, with little to do as that was a hell of a lot of money back then). Transfer book… Read more »

All true. except that I have read believable accounts from FFL’s that when BATF goons come round to bother them, they have at times been caught with small laptops and page scanning devices, and recording ALL the data on multiple pages of the Bound Book of the FFL. Some agents have, upon demand, deleted the files they had just created, others have refued. To my knowledge none have been prosecuted. This was happening on a regular basis, from reports I read, in Arizona and New Mexico, two areas heavily abused via the GunWalker/Fast and Furious debacle.. of which NOTHING has… Read more »

Will: The laws establishing and continuing the ATF should not exist. There should be disdain and contempt for the elected servants who pass such acts of oppression. The ATF is one of the units enforcing this oppression. I think there is sufficient evidence for this agency to be abolished, but it has not been. Its agents are continued to be used as shock troops against private citizens. If this unit were abolished, its purpose and procedures would be transferred to other units. As the suppression of the right to arms increases, so will the numbers of its enforcers.

As far as to whether you own a firearm or not, that cat has been out of the bag for decades; at least for old folks like me. People waste their time and energy worrying about that. I don’t. You have a long “paper trail” which will tell anyone with an IQ above the temperature of river water that you most likely have firearms. Life is too short to be concerned about that which is water under the bridge. Now, people actively making noises about infringing upon your possession of those firearms is something worthy of your undivided attention.

did he get the NAMES and BADGE NUMBERS of those two commies? If not why not? Then file FORMAL COMPLAINTS agains them for violating the law.
