ATF Continues Search for Grenades Sold at Antique Mall in Shallotte

ATF Frag Grenade

U.S.A. -(AmmoLand.com) – The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives seeks the public’s help in recovering potential live hand grenades purchased in June 2020 at the Fancy Flea Antique Mall on Ocean Highway West in Shallotte.

On Dec. 23, 2020, a Virginia teenager was killed by an exploding grenade that investigators believe may have been purchased from the antique mall in June.

Subsequent information provided to ATF indicates additional grenades were possibly sold from the same vendor in June 2020. Law enforcement is concerned the grenades purchased from the vendor may contain live explosives and could be hazardous to the public.

The grenades were thought to be “inert” MK2 grenades, a style used during World War II and similar to the one pictured below. At the time of sale, neither the vendor nor buyer(s) believed the grenades to be functioning or hazardous.

ATF is asking for anyone who visited Shallotte, near the Ocean Isle Beach and Holden Beach area, and purchased an “inert” grenade from the Fancy Flea Antique Mall in June 2020 to contact the Charlotte Field Division at 704-716-1800 or the Washington Field Division at 202-648-8010. Information can also be provided to ATF by calling 1-800-ATF-TIPS (800-283-8477), or by email at [email protected]

, or through the ReportIt app.

If Grenades are this much trouble just wait until you start trying to find 585 million guns.

They will just put out a presser through Ammoland. 🙂

Nice word play !

Ray

They got them from Chuck Schumer and Nanna, knowing that only gun advocates would be interested in them.

Bring backs from WWII and The Korean War. But my primary question is, “WHY is this NOT MAINSTREAM NEWS”???

That’s a good question. Do you think it is because it doesn’t have AR or AK in front of it?

If memory is correct , seem to recall ATF under orders of Barry & Eric to release 2K H/P rifles to drug cartels, militants and thugs in the American SW & Mexico. Majority of those firearms have yet to be located. however the 2 criminals listed above layed blame on honest FFL dealers for their 1st attempt of erasing the 2A when they seized power. Look for repeat acts as Barry is now Biden’s brain .

Diksum

I blame the dealers for Fast & Furious. They should have known that BATFE agents don’t have the power to suspend regulations. And these agents likely violated the law by pressing citizens to break the law.

The last part of your comment sounds kinda ruby ridge to me. My question is, why is it that the people giving the command to break the law are not in jail like obummer and Erik Holder. Oh that’s right, I forgot, they are demonrats and protected by the upper class law for demonrats only. Those laws don’t exist for us deplorables, ya know, kinda like the guy who does a straw purchase and sells them to Mexico? For him that is against the law and he must go to jail but for holder and obummer, it’s ok, we were… Read more »

Biden has a brain? You mean had, he’s wearing diapers for incontenance now. Sad, sad condition our country is in.

And we should help the ATFE why?

So another person or child doesn’t get hurt.

Well, they could just put out an announcement saying “if you bought one of these it might be live, unscrew fuse from body, dump powder, don’t put fuse back in!”.

Naw, that might be too easy…..

Bill

I appreciate the good work that the ATF does in protecting us from each other. Next, of course, who will protect us from them? And the FBI, and the DOJ, which have all become partisan, agenda driven hacks, at least at the leadership level.

musicman44mag

Bill, IMO, “who will protect us from them?” is past here. I agree, taking care of terrorists and finding people planned on bombing stuff etc. is great but telling me I cannot have a rifle that has a shorter than 16 inch barrel, that I cannot have a sound suppressor or a fully auto gun which IMO we don’t really need, we need to have a pistol brace that is approved and it all requires a stamp and a fee shows grounds that they already have our kahuna’s.

Agree?
