U.S.A.-(AmmoLand.com)- Speer Ammunition announces the addition of the new 30 Super Carry cartridge to its Gold Dot Personal Protection product family. Hailed as one of the biggest handgun cartridge introductions in decades, the new Gold Dot 30 Super Carry from Speer continues to bolster the ammunition options for this new platform. Check with your local ammo store for availability.

The Gold Dot 30 Super Carry has the power of a 9mm Luger with more magazine capacity. The combination of performance and smaller-diameter sized .313-inch diameter projectile allow the Federal Ammunition engineered cartridge to deliver 9mm Luger muzzle velocity, with terminal performance that far exceeds that of 380 Auto.

“We are excited to add this new cartridge to the line of the No. 1 bullet choice of law enforcement,” said Jesse Whiteside, Federal’s Senior Director of Product Management. “The new 30 Super Carry option packs all of the functional features that law enforcement and concealed carry users have trusted in a personal protection round. The Uni-Cor bonded Gold Dot Bullet is designed for better weight retention, deep penetration, and exceptional expansion. It’s clear to see why the line of Gold Dot ammunition continues to be so popular.”

With the continued growth and popularity of concealed carry firearms, the 30 Super Carry comes into the market as an ideal choice for everyday carry. The cartridge greatly outperforms the 380 Auto while offering the same muzzle energy as the 9mm Luger, but with more magazine capacity. With this newly designed cartridge, users don’t have to choose a smaller firearm with reduced bullet performance or a larger firearm with more magazine capacity. The 30 Super Carry combines the best of performance and size.

“What I think shooters will like about the Gold Dot 30 Super Carry is that they get more performance from their everyday firearm without having to step up to a larger platform,” continued Whiteside. “With the 30 Super Carry, a magazine the size of a standard 10-round 9mm Luger will be able to carry 12 to 13 rounds of 30 Super Carry. Additional rounds can make a big difference in a real-world self-defense scenario.”

About Speer Ammunition

Speer’s reputation for making the world’s finest component bullets and loaded ammunition goes all the way back to 1943. That’s when Vernon Speer started building bullets because reloaders couldn’t get the components they needed from ammo companies during World War II. Although he initially focused on hunting rifle bullets, he also built the first mass-produced jacketed handgun bullets for hunting and law enforcement. In the 1960s, he put some of those bullets into loaded ammunition in the now-famous Lawman® line. And today, Speer Gold Dot® is the most trusted duty ammunition for law enforcement. We offer the same loads to civilians for personal protection that’s simply beyond compare. We still manufacture our products in the small city of Lewiston, Idaho. The original product lines have been expanded and new ones added. But through the changes, our formula for success has been constant: Determination, self-reliance and independence that show in all of our ammunition and components.Speer

30 SUPER CARRY! GREAT! How many 30 super carry firearms are out there? The problem is not that you can not fit enough rounds in a 9mm . . . the problem is that THE GOVERNMENT LIMITS THE NUMBER OF ROUNDS IN A 9MM . . . or any other firearm. So 2 extra rounds are irrelevant! You don’t need a .45 – because 9mm expands – so now we go down to .30? Not me! The reality is that I spent a lot of time testing my carry ammo in my Colt Government Model and over time, got to… Read more »

Try to find this ammo… It will be years before shops start to carry it IF it ever catches on. Same power as the available ANYWHERE 9mm for only twice the price !

Yeah, but this cartridge is new, it’s trendy, and it’s kewel! You don’t want to pay double to have those things?

My local range has it,20 rounds of federal 115 gr. FMJ for only 43.97,yeah rite.

Geeze, that is scary! Also, ammo companies struggle right now to just keep us in 9mm ball, 5.56 ball, and any form of 12 ga buck or slugs. Forget about legacy calibers like .40S&W, .32anything, .38anything, .357 Magnum, .44anything, .45anything, etc. While 9mm is readily available in ball (@ 2× 3 yrs ago price), high performance hollowpoint ammo is still scarce. Why introduce a whole new cartridge to the mix to pull production away from existing calibers?

So far there are only two pistols chambered for the new super duper round and one of said pistols is a 1000 +, boy somebody at federal was using the ole noggin when that occurred.

Oh, there really is a gun out there chambered for it already? I was just being a smart-ss with my comment about getting a case for my guns. Didn’t know there was already a gun in that caliber on the market. I thought they were putting the cart (ridge) before the horse.

I was just waiting on some hapless soul to ask me what kind of guns I had that were chambered for it. 😀
