Armed Daughter Turns Back Trio of Colorado Springs Home Invaders

Colorado Springs police are actively investigating a late-night home invasion that occurred in an eastside neighborhood, involving three masked suspects, one of whom may have been shot during the incident. The event has rattled the ordinarily quiet community and has put local hospitals and law enforcement on high alert.

The invasion happened late on Thursday night at a quiet residence on the 1300 block of Cumberland Street. The homeowner, Bob Grafft, and his daughter were at home at the time of the incident. According to Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) reports, that is when three masked intruders entered the house through an open backdoor while Grafft’s daughter was outside with their dog.

Two of the suspects reportedly headed for the basement, while the third, armed with a sawed-off shotgun, approached the bedroom. Grafft’s daughter, Lisa, recognized the intrusion drawing down on the armed suspect with a firearm of her own. As the armed and still dangerous suspect fled, Lisa reportedly shot him in the shoulder.

All three suspects then turned tail and ran from the property, and fled down the street in a vehicle. CSPD has yet to identify any of the suspects, and no arrests have been made as of yet. Local hospitals have been alerted about the incident and the possible arrival of a gunshot victim.

Residents of the neighborhood expressed their shock and concern following the incident. Bob Falcone, a resident living just a block away, noted his worry about the dangerous criminals still being at large.

“In the 30 years or more I’ve lived here, I’ve never had anything like that happen,” Falcone said.

Despite the unsettling occurrence, CSPD believes that the home invasion was a targeted act rather than a random burglary.

Keep You Guard Up

In a related incident on Saturday, another home invasion was reported on 300 Gahart Dr., Colorado Springs. A 36-year-old man named Cordero Caples was taken into police custody after allegedly breaking into a home, threatening the occupants with a handgun, and demanding money. No injuries were reported, and Caples now faces multiple felony and misdemeanor charges.

As of now, there is no apparent connection between the two incidents, but the police are not ruling out any possibilities in their ongoing investigations.

“Keep You Guard Up”? “AI” must be the editor’s nickname – Absolute Idiot.

incorrigible

I like your definition of “AI”! Good to be warned of its use, and that the article may therefor be largely BS.

Home invaders? Or just a few fine African-Americans we haven’t met yet?

Racist much?

accurate much?

Identifying one’s background and culture based on behaviour is NOT “racism”. Denying him service, or a job, based solely upon that cultural/behavioural observations might be.

Desert Rat

Considering that approximately 3% of the population (black males between the ages of 12-45) commit 50% of ALL crime and 80% of interracial crime, black on white, and 90% of intraracial crime, black on black) making the assumption that the perps were black is not a great leap in logic. If you watch any crime series on TV or watch the news showing the riots and looting going on in our cities, it is obvious that the vast majority of the murderers and thieves are black. That’s not racist to say that, that’s FBI crime statistics. If theft and looting… Read more »

Racist or not, what do you think the odds are of Ledesma being right?

Tionico

in that area I’d put my nickel on them being african-centralamericans.

Toxic Deplorable Racist SAH

The perps should be easy to catch.
Just look for & follow the blood drops (if she actually did hit one in the shoulder) – or –
look for & follow the brown & yellow stain trail from their body fluids.
Should be enough to give a DNA match if they’ve been in the “system” before.

Stop reading these lazy AI generated articles. Not to be insulting, I guess I am, but it’s lazy and stupid for an editor of a publication to use this type of content production. Editors used to have a purpose, most every article produced today seems lacking an editors touch.

We should be either leaving a snarky post taunting the content producer for using AI or do as I normally do, ignore the article.

I go with snarky every time

“As the armed and still dangerous suspect fled, Lisa reportedly shot him in the shoulder.

A potentially troublesome situation, if true. Then again, I’m not sure a jury would convict her.

It’s Colorado Springs, I didn’t think firearms were allowed there.

he was declared “still dangerous” as well as armed. HOW could she KNOW the dirtbag would cintinue on his exit course and not quickly turn and fire on HER? She couldn’t. Still in the house at that point, I believe, and thus “available’ as a target. Her Dad was also still involved, no mention of whether he is armed at any point.
