LEHIGH ACRES, FL – A homeowner is being hailed as a hero after stopping a violent carjacking spree that ended in a deadly shootout on Thursday.
The incident began when 23-year-old Ja’Darian Graham embarked on a chaotic rampage, carjacking four vehicles in Lehigh Acres. The spree started early in the morning on Joel Boulevard, where Graham fired shots at a fleeing car after an unsuccessful carjacking attempt.
Sheriff Carmine Marceno of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office provided details of the events. Graham managed to steal a second vehicle nearby but soon abandoned it after realizing he couldn’t drive the standard transmission. He then carjacked a third vehicle at an Exxon gas station, firing his gun into the hood when he struggled with the stick shift. Finally, he stole a fourth car from a liquor store and drove to a house on Johns Avenue.
At the Johns Avenue residence, Graham began shooting into the home. The homeowner, who was inside, returned fire after being struck in the shoulder, ultimately killing Graham. Sheriff Marceno praised the homeowner’s bravery, stating, “Thank God for our homeowner, he’s a hero.”
Neighbors recounted the heavy police presence in the area, with one resident needing to show ID to access his home. The investigation is ongoing, and while the motive behind Graham’s actions remains unclear, Sheriff Marceno emphasized the unusual nature of the crime spree, noting that Graham had no prior criminal history.
Despite the violence, the homeowner who defended himself and his property emerged as a community hero.
Sheriff Marceno reiterated, “The homeowner is a hero. Here he is in his house, gets shot, and returns fire, killing our suspect. We are certain that the great residents of Lee County are going to be safe, and we’re not going to tolerate that behavior.”
Authorities are awaiting a toxicology report to further understand Graham’s state during the incident. In the meantime, the community is left reflecting on the heroism displayed in the face of danger.

I love a happy ending. Now all the county pays for is the investigation, the coroner to pick him up and hopefully he has family that can pay for the burial so the county doesn’t have to eat that too.
Nice shot dude!!!!
Oregoneistan
A gun locked in a safe does no good when one encounters such an attack. Its why being armed at all times everywhere is the best policy. With the Communist Biden Regimes open border invitation to the worlds terrorists and vermin I carry 3 additional magazines with a full size sidearm as my daily CCW. A bit heavy yes. But I consider it essential.
Excellent work, homeowner! This guy would likely have wounded or killed others if not for your action. You saved taxpayers a bundle on housing and trials for this guy.
Hello, been wondering about you and if the infection kept you in the hospital again. Glad to see you are back. A lot has happened in the news since you have been gone. See what happens when you are not here? It all goes to hell in a hand basket.
Take care.
Ope! Good to hear from you again brother. Like I said before, it just isn’t the same when ;you aren’t around. Hope every thing is GOOD!
When is showing the home and telling everyone the address on T.V. a good idea.
We are so glad to see that you ain’t dead!!!
Why did the perp, after stealing a car at the liquor store, drive to the John’s Ave home and begin by shooting at the house? There’s more to this story than hero worship.
Dead ones are the best kind
The sheriff said he had no prior criminal history. He must have been a really fast runner.
