Introducing the Magpul TMAG 30 AR/M4 GEN M3: Translucent Rifle Magazine ~ VIDEO

Magpul TMAG 30 AR/M4 GEN M3 Translucent Rifle Magazine

After years of meticulous development, Magpul has introduced the TMAG 30 AR/M4 GEN M3—a translucent magazine for STANAG-compatible weapons chambered in 5.56×45 NATO/.223 Remington. This magazine is not just another translucent option; it is the most durable and reliable magazine of its kind, meeting both Magpul’s strict GEN M3 standards and the rigorous Department of Defense Test Operation Procedures for full weapons drops, dust, and chemical reliability.

Materials and Design Features

The TMAG’s most notable feature is its translucent body made from a proprietary olive drab polymer, allowing users to quickly identify the ammunition type and round count without guessing. Designed with smooth sides for optimal clarity, this magazine is a leap forward in functional transparency, making it a practical choice for shooters who demand visibility and reliability.

Externally, ribbed front and rear straps provide a secure grip during magazine changes, while the low-profile floor plate is compatible with Magpul’s line of floor-plate accessories. The TMAG’s four-way anti-tilt follower and USGI-spec stainless steel spring with a painted coil ensure smooth feeding and reliable performance, even in the most demanding conditions. The painted coil maintains a “gas gauge” capability, similar to the Window magazine, allowing users to monitor their round count accurately—even when inserted in the magazine well.

Uncompromising Durability and Testing

Magpul is known for setting the bar high in durability, and the TMAG continues this tradition. It’s the first translucent magazine to pass Department of Defense tests, including full weapons drops and environmental stress tests, making it a trustworthy addition to any shooter’s gear. This level of durability ensures that the TMAG can endure the harshest environments without compromising performance.

Optimized Compatibility

The TMAG is engineered to work flawlessly with Colt-spec AR15/M4 platforms and other STANAG-compatible firearms such as the HK 416/MR556A1/M27 IAR, FN SCAR MK 16/16S, and more. Its modified internal and external geometry ensures reliable operation across a broad range of weapon platforms, making it a versatile and robust magazine choice for multiple firearm systems.

The good news is that they let you see how many rounds are left in your mag.

The bad news is that they let everyone else see how many rounds are left in your mag.

I like the idea a lot but if I am busy I really don’t have time to stop and look at a magazine or take my eyes away from the targets. I like as another Ammoland person suggested and I did it one better. I put a tracer in for round 20 which was my idea and three in the 28,29 and 30 positions like was suggested. That way when I come to the end of the mag I know without checking and I don’t drop loaded mags on the ground. I am sure that the incendiary rounds hurt just… Read more »

that is what i do, if i see a tracer i have 2 left, oh and don’t waist your money on streak ammo, you can’t see them during the day only at night, even then your pistol and hand are in the way so you can’t really see the tracer, the larger calibers are more visible and the AR tracers work in bright light

I’ve seen clear AR,-15 mags before. Promag makes some.
Is this mag also for the he Mini 14? Like the old Ramline magazines?

Would like to see some magazine manufacturer make up some 50 round drums for the M-1 Carbine in 30 Carbine..

Also, ammo companies, please make rounds like 218 Bee, 25-20, 256 Win.Mag., 30 Carbine, 32-20, 38-40, 41 Long Colt, 44-40, 45 Long Colt in “20 round boxes.”!

Nobody wants to pay $100 for a 50 round box of ammo, so please bring out 20 round boxes!

I haven’t tried these new ones, but the batch of regular black Gen 3 AR15 mags I bought don’t drop free from my FN AR15 carbine, even when fully loaded, still won’t drop free. All the other Magpuls I have Gen 2’s and Gen 3’s drop free from it.
Anyone else had issues lately with them not dropping free?

Appears to more transparent than translucent. But hey, it their magazine and if they want to call it opaque, fine by me. 😉

I never had an issue with Lancers.
