Available in both HD-B and HD-R Ballistics Versions; Boasting More Light-Gathering Power
Allendale, NJ -(AmmoLand.com)- Hunters will be thrilled with the enhanced light-gathering capabilities of Leica's new Geovid 8x56mm rangefinding binoculars, available in both the HD-B and HD-R (typ 502) ballistics versions.
Combining extraordinary optical performance with an ultimate compactness and state-of-the-art rangefinding, the Geovid 8×56 features every innovative function of the widely acclaimed 42mm Geovid HD-B and HD-R (typ 402 & 403) versions, but offers significantly enhanced light-gathering power thanks to its 56mm objective lens diameter and increased light transmission. The new 56mm Geovids are ideal for spotting game animals in early morning and evening low-light conditions, when they are most active.
Combining the optimized patented Perger-Porro system with HD glass for exceptional optical brilliance and fidelity, the new Geovids boast a distinctive visual profile, exceptional ergonomics, outstanding ranging performance and innovative ballistics functionality – all in a housing that would suit most 42mm binoculars well.
The Geovid 8×56 measures just 9mm more in height and 20mm more in width than its 42mm family member, making it ideal for hunters on the move. When compared side by side, the step up from a 42mm binocular to a 56mm binocular does not seem to be a big one, however, the numbers speak for themselves. The additional 14mm in diameter increases the amount of collected light by 78%.
The Geovid 8×56 models strictly follow the original HD-B design, making them both ergonomic and beautiful. Thanks to the open ergonomic bridge and the curved binocular barrels, plus the perfect weight balance of the magnesium housing, holding them for long periods of time both comfortably and without fatigue is possible – even during an exceptionally long glassing session.
The control buttons and other functional elements are ergonomically positioned, making them ideal for right- and left-handed users. The above features make the new Geovid 8×56 the no. 1 binocular for hunting in low-light conditions.
The Geovid HD-B features the proven Advanced Ballistic Compensation (ABC) function making it easier and more reliable for the hunter to determine the correct aiming point. The integrated, high-precision ballistic calculator of the Geovid HD-B uses a wide range of different information, calculates the ballistic drop curve in fractions of a second and provides precise details of the necessary aiming point corrections at the push of a button. The bullet trajectory calculation takes account of a specific ballistic curve, the linear range, the angle, the temperature and the atmospheric pressure. The Geovid HD-B delivers the information the user needs for expert hunting and a sure shot, in one of three practical output formats at the right moment.
An integrated a micro-SD card interface allows for the import of customer-specific trajectories. Simply enter your specific cartridge information (BC, V0 / V100,…) into the Leica ballistic calculator, download the resulting trajectory to your micro-SD card and then plug the card into the card slot in the battery compartment of your Geovid HD-B.
The newer Geovid HD-R takes it one step further by precisely calculating the Equivalent Horizontal Range (EHR) both uphill and downhill, giving you both the direct linear range and the corrected horizontal range. The huge advantage of this binocular is its ease of use. No programming necessary. For hunters who know their trajectory or use a ballistic reticle, the equivalent horizontal range is enough information to make an accurate first shot at longer distances. Provided directly after displaying the linear range, it automatically considers information regarding the angle, the temperature, and the atmospheric pressure.
It uses Leica's own proprietary algorithm and one intermediate sample trajectory for the determination of the EHR distance – achieving unrivaled precision.
