USA –  In an attempt to address the ongoing budget problem in Illinois, Sen. Hutchinson decided to tax Illinois residents’ Second Amendment rights, and by extension, their right to safety.

Under SA 2, a 5% tax would be imposed on any membership or access fee for gun clubs, shooting ranges, hunt clubs, training classes and match fees.

Not only is this an abhorrent tax on your Second Amendment rights, it also requires that any of those places/people to register with the state and pay an annual fee of $75 just so that they can offer their service or membership with the 5% tax added.

By increasing the price of self-defense classes as well as any fee spent on range time and practice, this amendment is making it more expensive for Illinoisans to seek training to be able to defend themselves.  SA 2 to Senate Bill 9 effectively sees Illinois residents’ right to safety as an opportunity to ease the budget burden on the entirety of the state.

Further, any “repair, servicing, alteration, fitting, cleaning, painting, coating, towing, inspection, or maintenance of tangible personal property” is also taxable under SA 2.  This section would include all gunsmithing and gun refinishing under taxable services.

Under SA 2, a 5% tax would be imposed on any membership or access fee for gun clubs, shooting ranges, hunt clubs, training classes and match fees.

It is extremely important that NRA members and Second Amendment supporters contact their state Senator and strongly urge them to oppose Senate Amendment 2 to Senate Bill 9.  The Second Amendment rights and right to safety of Illinoisans is not something that the legislature should tax.

Looks like Illinois wants to be like the UK.

Y’all are very welcome to relocate to North Carolina, we have cool temps in the western part of the state,
you will have more money in your pockets with our lower taxes and car insurance rates.

You can get your concealed permit and buy any firearm in the store same day withing a few min. and
no NICS needed, your permit is all you need.

Oh and our crime rates are a lot lower here.

I was wondering where theses stupid ideas come from. These idiots in Illinois, California and New Jersey move to other States and bring their stupidity with them.
All Liberals should be neutered at birth so they can’t reproduce or, is it a mental illness?

, The first guy in America to propose taxation as a way of controlling the people was Alexandar Hamilton. You know the guy on the ten dollar bill. He also wanted a king.

I guess they talked to NJ where I’m charged a 7.5% sales tax on my gun club dues.

Get your gun club to reduce the membership fee to $1.00 and the make a “donation” for the balance! Screw the tax idiots.

now ya thinkin… two can dance this tango.

But it does not change the fact this is outrageous. This is a selective “sin” tax, and is illegal. And yes, it IS a further infringement on an already badly infringed RIGHT.

, Curt, and Parnell, If the state of Ill is using its authority to tax for the purpose of depriving is population of the ability to acquire firearms, isn’t that an unconstitutional burden on your Second Amendment Civil Rights. Isn’t this more than a tax issue?

Apparently you, in Illinois, don’t have any rights at all any more. It’s even doubtful that your state still belongs to the United States of America. Your government is taking everything away from you to pay for the promises they made many years ago and can’t pay for any other way. You must get rid of those who are running you and your state into the ground before you have no state left or move toanother, more tax friendly state.

They have been “beat down and taxed to death” because they keep sending the same corrupt politicians to govern their state. This will never stop until the state goes under or when the people decide they have had enough and get rid of the crooks in their government.
