ANOKA, Minn. -(Ammoland.com)- Alliant Powder, a leading manufacturer of smokeless propellant, will launch improved Red Dot and Green Dot reloading powders during the 2018 SHOT Show (Booth No. 14551), January 23-26 at the Sands Expo Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Improved Alliant Powder Red Dot now burns significantly cleaner and offers better flow characteristics with the same clay-crushing performance the world’s best shooters have trusted since 1932.

Red Dot is optimized for 12-gauge target loads, offers Alliant Powder’s legendary lot-to-lot consistency and is proudly made in America.

Enhanced Green Dot is optimized for handicap trap loads, yet versatile enough for a variety of target and field applications. It also offers Alliant Powder’s lot-to-lot consistency and is made in the U.S.A. The improved formulation burns much cleaner, with precise burn rates that produce dense, uniform patterns, as well as less felt recoil.

“Alliant Powder offers shooters even more consistent and cleaner-burning performance with the release of these improved products,” said Brian Anderson, Senior Marketing Manager for Alliant Powder. “The original high-performance clay target powders just got even better.”

Both Red Dot and Green Dot will be available in three container sizes; 1-, 4- and 8-pound bottles.

Alliant Powder is a brand of Vista Outdoor Inc., an outdoor sports and recreation company. For more information and load data, visit their website.

Alliant Powder

About Alliant Powder:

Every container of Alliant smokeless powder is backed by a century of manufacturing experience and the most exacting quality control procedures in the industry. We check and control chemical composition, the shape and size of powder grains, even the propellants’ density and porosity. We send samples of every batch to our ballistics lab, testing for burning speed, among other things. Then, after blending batches together for exactly the right ballistic characteristics, we use our advanced computerized equipment to test again.

The result: a line of products known and respected for consistent quality and performance — not only in the lab but especially on the firing line. After all, one of the reasons you’re a reloader is so you’ll know exactly what to expect every time you pull the trigger. With Alliant powders, you will. Not only shell after shell, but also year after year.

Our History
Alliant’s origins as a gunpowder manufacturer can be traced back more than 125 years to the DuPont Company, whose leadership position in the explosives industry is legendary. DuPont’s divestiture in 1912 created the Hercules Power Company as an independent entity and eventually resulted in Alliant becoming America’s premier gunpowder manufacturer.

The long, proud history of Alliant Powder began in 1872 as Laflin & Rand, later to become Hercules Powder Company — the most respected name in the reloading industry.

So, will the loads still remain the same in the reloading manuals with these powders and will loads I have worked up with the old Red Dot still work as just the same in my gun with the new Red Dot, or do I have to rework the loads?
