I want a stainless semi-auto 17 hmr, prefer an 18 to 20 inch barrel. I would buy a 22mag version today and the 17 HMR yesterday. This is my 3rd request. Please make what HAS gotta be!!!

jerry

Good point. Maybe someone should call Savage and ask them why they went 22. Could it be that they like the longer barrel for those who won’t be using a scope so they can shoot more accurately with the longer site picture? I’d not use a scope on a auto myself.

Bill

I’ve understood that friction slows down the 22lr after 16 or 18 inches of barrel. Why should we buy something that gives less ft/lbs of energy? Try could give the same or better accuracy with a shorter barrel.

@Bill
as it breaks the speed of sound the round
becomes unstable .
Slowing the round, with length and ammo choice
will make for a more accurate round placement.
also a quieter shot report makes the neighbors
happier .
