McDougall – Is it Time for the NRA to Clean House?

How Judges Ignore the Constitution on the Right to Keep & Bear Arms Moussa81, iStock-1006474816
The author argues that it's time for the NRA to, “clean house”., iStock-1006474816

U.S.A. -(AmmoLand.com)- Let's be blunt; the purpose of the lawsuit brought to dissolve the N.R.A. is intended to sideline the N.R.A. for the upcoming election. New York has a long history of “Legislation through Litigation.” This in no way affects my viewpoint that it's time for the N.R.A. to clean house. The facts are simple; the N.R.A. needs an annual independent review of spending and better management. Wayne, you've done a great job, but its time. When you become the issue (rightly or wrongly), you cannot lead.

Democrats have done this before, used court and lawsuits to get what they want. Under the Clinton Administration, the Democrats used the courts to try and ban guns. H.U.D. Secretary
Andrew Cuomo was quoted as saying that gun manufacturers that did not comply would suffer “death by a thousand cuts,” and Eliott Spitzer noted that those who didn't cooperate would have bankruptcy lawyers “knocking at your door.”

If gun manufacturers wanted to stay in business, they had to give Democrats what they wanted. No law was ever passed; this was a war on the 2 nd Amendment by one political party using political power and liberal judges to get what they wanted. Part of what they wanted was campaign contributions. The other part was a restriction on sales. This is political corruption at its best.

Biden, Pelosi, and Harris have promised to repeal “The Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act” (PLCAA). The PLCAA is a law that protects firearms manufacturers and dealers from being held liable when crimes have been committed with their products. However, both manufacturers and dealers can still be held liable for damages resulting from defective products, breach of contract, criminal misconduct, and other actions for which they are directly responsible in much the same manner that any U.S.-based manufacturer of consumer products is held accountable. They may also be held liable for negligent entrustment when they have reason to know a gun is intended for use in a crime.

The PLCAA is codified at 15 U.S.C. §§ 7901–7903. Besides putting every gun maker and dealer out of business, this is nothing but a gift to greedy trial lawyers. The repeal is even more damaging if you remember that if you ever sell a gun to a neighbor, YOU are now responsible for anything that ever happens with that gun FOREVER! This may also apply to
any gun you ever sold before the repeal of the PLCAA! The net effect of this law is repealed, along with HR5717 is the end of your right to own a firearm and to pass them down to your children.

You'll never see this on CNN or any of the major networks. With over 140 million gun owners, a 50% turnout means Biden and Harris never come to the office. SO the left works to keep this off your radar. So share this article, use Facebook and Twitter, and email your friends. Help change the narrative. Shine a light on these lying bastards and let the nation see what they'll do once in power!

Patriot Solutions – they are not seizing any guns anywhere in CO. In spite of a 12 rd magazine limit, I can buy all the 30 rd AR magazines at any gun show openly displayed. Poor Don just can’t quite bring himself tho admit that WLP is a piece of crap that has plundered the NRA’s finances and will drive it to destruction if he is not thrown out. They do need to make changes. The Board is too large and too full of celebrity members that never attend or participate. And term limits are always a wonderful thing as… Read more »

Yeah. The NY gun grabbers were willing to let Lapierre and his buddies plunder the organization all this time but something we can’t see must have caused them to act (pretending that the NRA is a personally owned Lapierre business and run by some sort of gun-mafia was enough excuse I guess) and attempt to shut the entire organization down because of the mostly personal activities (plundering the treasury) of the senior officers. Well that might work for them, but it will not really do anything about the plunderers except to shut off their cash flow.

NRA be damned, we Patriots need to do two things:

1) Determine what the Founding Fathers would do if they were here.

2) Do what the Founding Fathers would do if they were here.

Are we lesser men than they??

You know exactly what the Founders would do, and that’s what we should be doing right now, preparing to do just that.

Our Founding Fathers would already have been finished shooting a second time. We are wussies. They are spinning in their graves for what they gave us that we have relinquished. America has been over run without firing a shot. Not a scenario of enemy in the wire. For decades, the enemy has been sitting in the Command Post. It’ll be messy to recover.

All law enforcement and military members/retirees/veterans have taken an oath of personal honor to defend and protect this country and its Constitution. Unlike Liberals/Leftists, we do indeed know the worth of our honor and integrity. We will NOT be “lesser men” than the Founders – for our grandchildren’s sake, at a minimum.

“We will NOT be “lesser men” than the Founders – for our grandchildren’s sake, at a minimum.”

Exactly, and well stated.

We all need to ask ourselves “What will the second generation from you tell the third generation about you?”.

First things first. The attack on the NRA is political and is designed to limit their ability to help Trump, the Republican party and firearm owners across the USA. The NRA is corrupt, look at bord member salaries. Also, the NRA is not nearly agressive enough. Maybe it’s a lack of publicity but there’s little evidence of their participation in law suits etc as evidenced here on Ammoland for example. For these reasons I stopped giving money to them a long time ago. America is on the edge of civil war. Had the NRA stood it’s ground over the years… Read more »

N)egotiating R)ights A)way is just a single example of not backing the US Constitution in that the entire legal system is corrupt and none of it has made a legitimate stand for the RIGHT to bear arms and they still arent today. Take the attornies fighting for people right to purchase thier rights from the government as the first example to my statement and then research the last time these attornies brought a case demanding the government to prove it’s authority to regulate arms in any way as another example. The list of examples of cases and arguments never presented… Read more »

First paragraph, last sentence is the point. I would add that overall “governance” including the charter and by-laws need to be materially revised. A few of the issues are: i) the NRA has attempted to become all things to all members – spin off publishing, convention(s), training, etc. to focus on advocacy; ii) the board has too many members – restructure to an executive committee and an advisory board and separate board of state affiliate presidents; iii) conflicts of interest – no board member shall earn related income from NRA activities; iv) voting members should be any member who has… Read more »

That one political party you reference is the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and they are currently seizing guns in America. LI v USA, Chinafornia, New Mexico, New York, Colorado, Oregon, Washington, Florida etc……………………

They bought 70% of ALL elected officials with our money that we transferred to them with the transfer of American jobs and industry. I fail to see how it is all the Democrats fault.
Military intervention/televised prosecutions direct from GITMO coming soon to a screen before you.

I fail to see how it is the “all demoncraps fault”.
Sir, I hope that is an ironic statement and I just missed the fact that it is. You stated your self that they are buying out and taking over with the funds that America gives them via the loss of our industry and jobs. For your information that all started with a little thing called NAFTA that was started by Bill Cliton.

It’s going to take much more than a simple “housecleaning”. It’ll require demolition and rebuilding to the point where the remodeled product is unrecognizable from the former structure.

Under Wayne LaPierre and the current BOD, the NRA has taken in hundreds of millions of dollars in donations, dues, and general sales.
If all that money has led to the current state of affairs, the answer is not sending more money to, or supporting the current leadership of “Wayne’s World”.
