U.S.A. -(AmmoLand.com)- Gov. Brian Kemp doubled down on his support for the Second Amendment on Wednesday at an event where he said he’d like to bring constitutional carry to Georgia.
“We shouldn’t have to claw back a civil right, a God-given right to defend ourselves. We shouldn’t have to argue the restrictions placed on government of four simple words ‘shall not be infringed.’ However, people who hate freedom persist, so 21 states have made America safer by passing constitutional carry,” said NRA Vice President Lt. Col. Willes K. Lee. “We’re pleased to stand here with Gov. Kemp today as he announces he will work to bring this protection to Georgia.”
At the event at a gun store outside Atlanta, Kemp also announced that Georgia will welcome the NRA and tens of thousands of its members in 2025 when the Annual Meetings and Exhibits returns to Atlanta.
“The NRA will return to Georgia in 2025 because it’s a great state with tens of thousands of NRA members and supporters. We look forward to celebrating our freedoms here and gathering to strengthen the fight against the anti-gun zealots who wish to leave Americans defenseless.”
Kemp, who spoke at the event along with former Congressman Bob Barr and other legislators and leaders, emphasized the importance of the Second Amendment amid the current climate of rising crime and defunded police departments.
Constitutional carry has been a priority for the NRA for decades and 21 states have passed NRA-backed constitutional carry bills. In 2022, NRA will work to pass this legislation in Georgia and numerous other states.
“Congratulations, Georgia. Congratulations, Atlanta. Thank you, Gov. Kemp, for you and your staff’s assistance,” Lee concluded. “God bless the United States and God bless our NRA members.”

Come on in the water is fine. No shootouts on every corner as many have said when we got CCW the Open and then Constitutional. No Wild West the fudds lied about.
Nothing changed for the worst. Bad guys have always carried.
I bet crime went down, criminals look for soft targets
Yes we need more states to follow and understand it’s a right not a privilege. Every state that joins in freedom will see less crime or at least less criminals that want to try to turn people into victims ! The criminals that persist might just regret thier actions due to armed citizens defending themselves .
It’s an election year and Kemp is targeted for replacement after his betrayal of Trump. This is pure “finger to the breeze” politics pn Kemp’s part.
Kemp betrayed America. He’s a corrupt RINO scumbag. I no longer trust Bob Barr either, oozing around with Kemp.
“Constitutional carry has been a priority for the NRA for decades…”
This is a flat out lie. The NRA wouldn’t endorse constitutional carry bills repeatedly introduced in Texas by Representative Stickland for years. It wasn’t until watered down permitless carry legislation was introduced that the NRA got involved. In many cases this legislation added further infringement to our rights.
“Constitutional carry has been a priority for the NRA for decades”
Bullshit.
