Arlington Heights, Ill. — A fatal shooting occurred at the Arbor Lakes Apartment Complex in Arlington Heights on Sunday afternoon, resulting in the death of 33-year-old Jimmie Jackson Franklin of Chicago. Authorities have confirmed that no charges will be filed against the shooter, who acted in self-defense.
The incident took place in the 4200 block of North Bloomington Avenue around 1:40 p.m. A resident, who had an active order of protection against Franklin, called 911 to report the shooting. When police arrived, they found Franklin had been shot inside the apartment.
According to police reports, Franklin unlawfully entered the apartment and immediately attacked a male guest. The guest, who holds a valid concealed carry license, retrieved a handgun and fired one shot, hitting Franklin in the chest. An autopsy confirmed Franklin died from the single gunshot wound.
Both the shooter and the resident cooperated with the authorities and were taken to the police station for questioning. Forensic evidence, along with witness statements, corroborated the sequence of events, leading the Cook County State’s Attorney’s office to decide against pressing charges.
This incident highlights the importance of self-defense laws and the protection of individuals who act to defend themselves and others in dangerous situations. The police investigation revealed that the resident had a legitimate reason to fear for her safety, given the order of protection against Franklin.
Arlington Heights police continue to emphasize the need for vigilance and lawful protection measures. This case underscores the value of having a valid concealed carry license and being prepared to defend oneself in life-threatening scenarios.
As the investigation wraps up, the community is reminded of the legal protections afforded to those who use firearms in self-defense.
This justified shooting serves as a stark reminder of the complexities and responsibilities involved in personal defense.

Tax $$$ Saved and society has one less scumbag to be concerned about.
suprised that kim fox didn’t seek to prosecute the defender.
Fired one shot! One 39 cent (assuming typical 9mm) round! What an efficient use of funds. Trump should hire the guy and put him in charge of the DoJ for the next 4 years. Empty prisons, no need for more judges, no recidivism – YOU’RE HIRED!
Our hero should get tax free status for life and the keys to the city from a grateful public.
saved tax slaves millions in victimization, legal and incarceration costs.
as for the dead A$$hole……….bury it in dog feces and piss on his grave!
Well. Paint me surprised.
Better happy ending than at Paul Pelosi’s Massage Parlor.
Did ya’all know Pelosi killed his brother and was acquitted? Probably drunk driving again.
