Trump Skips 2025 NRA Convention for Pope’s Funeral

The NRA’s 2025 Annual Meeting wrapped up this weekend in Atlanta without one of its biggest expected speakers: President Donald Trump.

The Reload was first to break the news that Trump would not attend the convention, choosing instead to travel to Rome for the funeral of Pope Francis.

For the first time since 2015, Trump missed the NRA’s flagship event, leading the organization to cancel the Leadership Forum altogether.

In a statement to The Reload, the NRA cited scheduling conflicts and emphasized Trump’s continued strong support for the Second Amendment and the organization’s mission.

While NRA members gathered in Georgia, Trump joined world leaders at St. Peter’s Basilica. Thanks to the traditional French diplomatic alphabet order, the United States delegation — listed as “États-Unis” — was seated near the front, giving Trump a prime spot alongside global dignitaries.

(While some media outlets tried to manufacture controversy over Trump’s blue suit, it’s worth noting that blue is considered an appropriate color for royal and religious funerals, symbolizing hope, faith, and eternity.)

Back in Atlanta, NRA members noticed the smaller political presence this year.

Without Trump and other major politicians on stage, the convention focused more heavily on seminars, grassroots organizing, and Second Amendment advocacy. Despite the change, the NRA stayed firm on its policy goals, pressing Congress to send a national concealed carry reciprocity bill to President Trump’s desk.

Trump, for his part, continues to champion gun rights. After another tragic school shooting last week, he firmly rejected renewed calls for gun control, stating “These things are terrible, but the gun doesn’t do the shooting — the people do.”.

Keeping his focus on protecting lawful gun ownership.

Meanwhile, his administration has already started rolling back anti-gun policies put in place by the Biden-Harris administration, including scrapping the ATF’s “zero-tolerance” campaign against federally licensed dealers.

Although Trump’s absence was felt in Atlanta, the partnership between him and the NRA remains strong — and the fight for the Second Amendment continues.

I rarely come here to comment, but I could not resist on this one. President Trump cancelled his NRA appearance on April 15. The Pope died on April 21. Let that sink in for a moment! Then re-read the article above.

Hey Bigfoot Bob. We were talking the other day about leaving our states and you stated that you needed to get your wife to budge but she wouldn’t because of the kids but that the kids were wanting to leave too so there might be a chance. Well, good news. A few days ago the governor of Washington signed into law that BLACKS ONLY will be getting 150,000 towards the purchase of a new home if they are first time home buyers. That is your tax dollars at work. In addition, you just had another increase in gas tax and… Read more »

NRA’s been found guilty of corruption in court. NRA Foundation settled a corruption lawsuit in DC.
Now NRA’s facing a RICO lawsuit from one of it’s own members.

Hmmm why would Trump attend?…

Ahhh another media lie. Can’t even get the truth here

Plus, there are a hell of a lot more Roman Catholics than there are NRA members, especially current NRA members. 😀

Choosing The Pope’s funeral over the NRA meeting was just “Smart Politics 101”.

Trumps; absence in Atlanta certainly was felt…no damn Secret Service thugs jamming up the place. If a dead Pope was what it took to keep Trump’s boys away…so be it. He attends, jams up the day. Only the 100 or so right down front actually see him. To all others in the auditorium Trump appears aslno more than an orange Frito behind a podium, watching him on big TV screens. He should be beamed in from wherever he was on trial that week to the big screens…..no SS thugs, massive tax dollars saved, better experience for all. And, by the… Read more »

AND….HE’S ALREADY GOT THE VOTES HE PANDERED FOR BY COMING!!!

THANK YOU, POPEY, for dying if that precluded Trump from attending!!! Trump’s Secret Service totally screws up the day when he is on site…and for nothing. Have to take EDC, pocket knives, anything “dangerous” back to your car, setting all up for smash’n’grabs in parking lots/garages, takes two hours in line to get through security and get seated. But for the 100 or so elites down in front, Trump appears to the rest of the attendees as a little orange Frito chip behind a podium, so they watch him on two huge video screens. Trump could have been beamed in… Read more »
