Independence Day Musings

New Jersey –-(Ammoland.com)- There once came a time when a proud hardworking people became dissatisfied with the treatment they received from their rulers at the time.

At first they grumbled amongst themselves. They complained about the lack of freedom. They complained about the excessive taxes. They were concerned that the best opportunities always seemed to be reserved for those who had connections to the rulers. Whenever one of them grumbled a little too loud, they were taken away and imprisoned without any recourse.

Eventually, new leaders emerged from within this group of decent freedom loving people. They cried out for Liberty. These leaders gathered in congress from all the far reaches of the land and met to discuss their shared grievances. There were many differences between the various leaders from the different parts of the land. However, they were able to put their differences aside because they realized that they had a common enemy who was exceedingly more detrimental to them and to the welfare of all the people throughout this great land.

These leaders came from all walks of life. Some were farmers; some were businessmen, lawyers, philosophers and visionaries. The one thing they had in common was a hatred of tyranny and a fervent desire for freedom from oppression. In brief, these leaders were people like us. They saw that there was a better life available if only they could shed the shackles that bound them to the rulers who abused them so.

Together and at great personal risk, these leaders listed their grievances against the rulers and declared their INDEPENDENCE from those who unjustly imposed their will upon the people. Instead they proposed the unusual notion that THE PEOPLE themselves would accept responsibility for their welfare. No longer would they allow the oppressive rulers to determine their fate and the fate of their children and grandchildren.

It is at this time each year that we celebrate the courage and determination of these AMAZING leaders. We do this and yet we feel somewhat unworthy of their contribution to our history. We look at the deterioration that has occurred since our brave leaders risked everything they had to make a better life for themselves and their families and we are a bit uncomfortable that we did not do our part to continue the tradition of Freedom and Liberty they passed down to us.

It is at this very time of year that we should instead reinforce our determination to recapture the spirit and courage of our founders. We may have lost our way, but we are not unworthy. We have not disavowed our love of FREEDOM and our personal independence from those who attempt to control us with false promises of security. It is FAR from too late for us to take back control from those who think they know better than we how to raise our families and provide for our future.

We need only to look them in the eye and declare that they have FAILED to uphold their oath to represent us – the PEOPLE of the United States of America. Instead, they have catered to their own interests and whims. NOW IS THE TIME for us to declare our INDEPENDENCE from those who sold us out for their own benefit or their own ideology. That is NOT representation. THAT is USURPATION.

Of course, I wish all a Happy Independence Day but more importantly, I ask you to remember what it means to be FREE and to be prepared to declare your personal independence from those who are willing to allow our great nation to fail. Not only must we be prepared to DECLARE our independence, we must be willing to do whatever is necessary to take back control from those who have demonstrated their complete and utter inability or unwillingness to LEAD. Indeed, Now IS the time.
