Roy Huntington, American Handgunner publisher and editor, discusses how to be safe in everyday situations in “Your Personal Safety: It’s Not Up to Anybody Else — You Own It.” Most ugly situations are avoidable, and Roy explains how to be aware of your environment and not look like easy prey to bad guys.

“Your number one option for personal security is a lifelong commitment to avoidance, deterrence and de-escalation,” Roy says.

“Self-Defense For Those With Physical Disabilities” and “Martial Blade Concepts: Practical/Realistic Self-Defense” both focus on Mike Janich’s techniques to effectively stop an attacker with knives, open-hand techniques and improvised weapons, plus explain how to utilize skills and tools when someone is not fully physically able.

Resources to help personalize your defense regimen are also featured. In “Which Shooting School is for You?” and “Knife & Gun Carry Strategies,” authors James Yeager and Mike Janich help readers make an educated choice about which training course to choose, and how to most effectively carry and use your defensive weapon.

Additional articles include “Let’s Be a Responsibly Armed Nation” and “Kids and Guns: Starting Them Young.”

Personal Defense also features the 2012 Buyer’s Guide, which includes over 90 pages of currently available handguns, rifles, shotguns, knives, lights and more.

For readers who have an iPhone or iPad, the American Handgunner SE app is available as a free download. Access the American Handgunner Personal Defense Special Edition on the go, plus many more Special Edition titles, for only $2.99 each.
