BOSTON, MA –-(Ammoland.com)- Today, the Gun Owners' Action League of Massachusetts, a grassroots organization of just over 17,000 members applauded the decision by Clear Channel, OutFront Media, Logan Communications, and Total Outdoor to remove misleading advertising which was originally donated to Stop Handgun Violence (SHV).

Stop Handgun Violence, with a long track history of running signs featuring outright lies, statistical manipulation and imagery designed to elicit an emotional response aimed at advancing anti-civil rights laws, was recently forced to find a new home for their false messaging.

When it was reported that the single sign would be multiplied into 36 signs statewide, Second Amendment advocates, led by GOAL took exception and acted.

GOAL led an strategic communications campaign, which urged civil rights advocates to contact the billboard companies and ask that they not perpetuate the false truths as a “service” for Stop Handgun Violence. GOAL utilized a social media campaign using the hashtag #billboardtruth, a strong national media push, and grassroots actions by members for emails and phonecalls to the donating corporations.

After less than 24 hours, the majority of the companies agreed to remove the advertising. GOAL applauds this decision;

“GOAL has a 40 plus year history of providing professional firearms safety training”, said Jim Wallace Executive Director of GOAL, “we have also spent many years on Beacon Hill working towards real solutions which would respect Second Amendment rights and also offer better options for crime fighting and public safety.”

On behalf of GOAL and our members Jim Wallace would like to thank everyone who took part in the effort and took time out of their busy schedules to contact these companies, your voices were heard and truth won.

The programs sponsored and developed by Gun Owners’ Action League are supported by competitors, sportsmen, recreational shooters and law enforcement throughout the state. We were formed in 1974 to protect the right to keep and bear arms for lawful purposes in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Jake, 5, 000,000 members is not a tiny extremist fringe. I am also certain that the large number of democrats that belong to the NRA would resent being called right wing gun nuts.

Extremism in defense of liberty is no vice. Moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue.

@Jake – Yes, MA has some of the strictest gun-control laws in the nation, but the Tsarnaev brothers apparently didn’t get the message. Almost as tragic as the blast at the Boston Marathon , and just as frightening was Boston mayor Mumbles Menino putting the entire city on a police-state lockdown, looking for one Chechen national with a gun. It was like something out of a Keystone Kop comedy. I thought gun- control laws were supposed to make people feel safer – going about their business with no fear, because of no guns being present. Some punk shows up with… Read more »

On the radio they called the NRA bullies for getting the anti gun propaganda removed. Bunch of sore losers, it’s the people who don’t agree with their lies. But they never admit defeat, we must always be on guard against the tyranny of minority groups.
