Illinois –-(Ammoland.com)- On Sunday, Mother’s Day, for a second time in two weeks, a woman was attacked and raped on a Chicago elevated train.

Of course, we are told we are all safer because we can’t carry self defense guns on mass transit.

Concealed Carry has lowered crime rates except where there are gun free zones. Mass transit is one of those places. Each day thousands of vulnerable people board mass transit systems because they have no choice.

We need to give them a choice that would allow them to protect themselves instead of making mass transit systems a free smorgasbord for criminals.

The one bright spot in the unfavorable ruling by the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals in the Friedman v. City of Highland Park case came in the dissenting opinion written by Judge Manion.

Judge Manion pointed out that “the right to self-defense is largely meaningless if it does not include the right to choose the most effective means of defending one’s self.”

If you recall the majority found the Highland Park ordinance constitutional because it “may increase the public’s sense of safety.” The majority opinion was a “feel good” ruling not based on law. We are facing a lot more of these types of opinions because of the relentless propaganda being put out by Bloomberg and others regarding firearms and the people who own them. So not only do we have to fight the legal battles, but the disinformation campaigns of the anti-gunners – a very expensive process. This is why increasing ISRA membership and donations are so important. Please recruit a new member today.

For those living in the 18th Congressional District, the election process is about to begin. The State of Illinois must send out military ballots on May 23rd, absentee ballots on May 28th, and the Primary Election will be July 7th 2105. The election is to replace Aaron Schock.

Don’t forget NRA Day at the ISRA Range is coming up on June 20th 2105. Please plan to come and bring your family, friends, and neighbors.

As we approach the middle of May, I know it seems nothing is happening in Springfield. Right now everything is happening behind the scenes. When things start to move, they will happen suddenly. We will keep you apprised.

Thanks for being a member.

I’m banned from posting on ISRA’s Facebook page. We have gun bans because gun owners support BANS on all kinds of things. ISRA supports all kinds of gun control laws; that’s why we have them.

The ISRA/NRA needs to start going on the offense and start working to repeal gun control laws instead of playing defense all the time

One problem with transit gun-free zones is that they not only disarm you while in transit, they also disarm you at your destination.
Much like employers’ no-guns-in-employee-cars rules disarm employees while driving to and from work.

And you basically have to take mass transit to get downtown because the tollway system is so chaotic it could take you hours to drive.

I’m assuming they meant 2015 for the dates? I don’t think I can wait 90 YEARS for range day 🙁
