Outdoors specialty retailer participates as official sponsor with giveaways and more
St. Paul, MN -(Ammoland.com)- Gander Mountain will again be joining the annual Fishing Opener with Governor Mark Dayton and countless other Minnesotans on Saturday, May 9.
The outdoor retailer has also planned family events and deals to help get anglers out on the water for opening weekend. Starting on Friday, May 1, the dozen Gander Mountain stores throughout Minnesota will offer specials, demonstrations, prizes, kids’ events, giveaways and even a traditional fish fry to celebrate the start of open-water fishing season in the state.
Over the May 1-3 weekend, Gander Mountain’s Pre-Fishing Opener Event will be held. Visitors will receive valuable giveaway prizes including hats and fishing towels to the first 250 people to make a purchase all three days, register to win a Lowrance Elite 5 HDS fishfinder (a $500 value), bring the kids for a “paint a lure” project and casting contest, and are invited to a free fish fry on Saturday, May 2 starting at 11 a.m.
On May 8, Minnesota stores open at 6 a.m. and will provide free breakfast as part of Gander Mountain’s Fish Friday celebration. Visitors can register to win a Rapala gift pack valued at $1,000 and the first 250 guests through the door will receive a free tackle organizer. The first 100 customers to make a purchase will receive a free 2015 Fishing Opener long sleeve t-shirt, and Berkley Trilene will host a Line Winding Happy Hour event where visitors can get up to two spools of line wound for free.

On Lake Vermilion, Gander Mountain is playing a significant role in the fun of the 68th annual Governor’s Fishing Opener. The event runs Thursday, May 7 through Sunday, May 10, with Gander Mountain as a “Platinum Walleye” sponsor.
