Ft Collins, CO –-(Ammoland.com)- “When we expect cops to stop your bleeding, start hearts, change tires, calm the irrational, comfort the heartbroken, control schizophrenics (when doctors can’t), straighten-out unruly students (when five teachers can’t), routinely make perfect life-and-death decisions in split seconds, recite verbatim city, state, and federal case-law and remember intricacies of 2k ‘ general orders,’ all error-free, and in the blink of an eye, while engaged in bizarrely chaotic and dangerous situations in the middle of a cold night, in the rain, we are, as a society, nuts!” ~ Glennon
Today in the UK, there is a crucial shortage of police officers who are willing to be assigned to one of the critically necessary, and expanding, “ armed” units. No one, it seems, wants to volunteer to be issued a duty weapon!
The reason is that in every OIS (officer involved shooting) in the UK, no matter how righteous and reasonable, involved officers are, without fail, viciously second-guessed and denigrated in the press, often prosecuted criminally, and have their lives and careers promptly ruined. Basically, armed UK police officers are told that, if they ever shoot, or even brandish their pistol, it will be for the first, and last, time! Their police career is over at that point, and they ’re spend the rest of their miserable lives on the receiving end of endless criticism, outright lies, political prosecution, and death threats.
Not an attractive career move!
Over here, we’re going the same direction. Every time one of our officers employs deadly force in order to save his own life, our liberal press screams that the officer should have used “alternative methods,” or that he should have allowed the VCA (violent criminal actor) to shoot at him a few times before taking action. When the incident is cross-racial, you can depend on it!
Liberals in government, and their allies in the press, cater to losers and criminals! Always have, as that is their support base. Murdered police officers and citizens rarely concern them, but a dead criminal is unthinkable!
There are some people, under some circumstances, who need to be shot dead, before they commit additional mayhem. Not in dispute! We employ armed police officers to perform that task for us, and, when they do, it is a good thing, and we should thank them!
Yes, it is “regrettable,” at least in a philosophical sense, that the VCA gave them no choice, but our courageous police officers, every time they’re involved in an OIS, should not have to be subsequently exposed to endless, withering nit-picking by comfortable liberals who self-righteously consider themselves “morally superior.”
The result is, in both the UK and the USA, our police officers routinely expose themselves to what can only be described as “suicidal” risk, in order to avoid shooting. Many are unnecessarily injured and murdered as a result.
In the vast majority of these cases, logic, good tactics, and common sense clearly indicate that officers involved should have shot more, and sooner!
During 2016, we’ll see more pitiable examples of good police officers, competently doing their job, but not enjoying the support, nor even the appreciation, of liberal politicians, liberal and politically-active prosecutors, liberal and politically-active judges, liberal advocacy groups, nor even their own departments in some cases.
“Son, we live in a world that has walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with guns.
Who’s gonna do it?
… I have a greater responsibility than you could possibly fathom. You… curse the Marines. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know.
…my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives.
You don’t want the truth, because deep down in places you don’t talk about at parties, you want me on that wall; you need me on that wall.
We use words like ‘honor,’ ‘code,’ ‘loyalty.’ We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something.
You use them as a punchline!
I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the very blanket of freedom that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it.
I would rather you just said ‘Thank you,’ and went on your way,
Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a weapon, and stand a post…” ~ Col Nathan Jessep (played by Jack Nicholson) in the 1992 feature film, A Few Good Men
