Ft Collins, CO –-(Ammoland.com)- “The most expensive four words in the English Language: ‘This time it’s different!’” ~ John Templeton

On North Korea, from a friend in the System:

“Until recently, all Swiss border-tunnels and bridges were mined, and could be blown within hours. Add this to the high survivability of their people, equipment, and tactical air-assets, and the Swiss present a real porcupine to any invader. In view of current world events, namely North Korea’s ICBMs in Asia and Russian aggression in Europe, the Swiss are likely to re-harden borders. In fact, they’re probably doing it now!

Sweden has just re-activated its civil-defense shelter program, and reinstated the draft.

The Baltics are arming and training citizen ‘volunteers’ of military age, all in an effort to turn their countries into ‘instant insurgencies’ upon invasion, which they firmly believe is coming, either from Russians, or Islamics.

They’ve been through all this before!

Over here, our naive and disconnected ‘media’ is transfixed on DJTs’ imagined ‘Russian connection.’

Under JEC (James Earl Carter) and WJC (William Jefferson Clinton), the last vestiges of American civil defense were foolishly abandoned, smugly dismissed by liberals as ‘irrelevant.’

RWR ( Ronald Wilson Reagan ) tried to revive the Program, at least to ‘maintenance’ levels, but was self-righteously mocked by liberals, who called him ‘out-of-touch.

Suddenly, a psychopathic ulcer in North Korea has arrived at our city gates, with nuclear-tipped ICBMs (about which our last four administrations did nothing)!

Even during the Cold War, unlike the Swiss, we never built shelters. We just ‘inspected’ large buildings and arbitrarily designated their basements ‘fallout-shelters.’ Today, almost none are supplied with food, water, nor any other essentials, so none, even when used, could be occupied for more than a few days.

All this time, you can bet sophisticated and hardened facilities designed to house government officials were/are well-supplied and maintained, and have formidable blast-doors, air-handling systems, flush-toilets, and kids with M4s at the door!

Out here, the nervous and naive still foolishly believe that in a city the size of Los Angeles, for example, 8k police are somehow going to ‘take care of’ ten-million citizens, in a nuclear attack!

The wise know this is nonsense. We are all ‘on our own!’

History is replete with examples of ‘upset victories,’ where small, crudely-equipped, but nimble and determined armies innovated and adapted faster than ponderous, overconfident opponents.

The next war will be no different!”

“Tacitus laughed at Germanic tribes who tried to stop a torrent with their shields, but it is no less naive to believe in the establishment by purely human means of a society fully satisfied and perfectly inoffensive, and continuing to progress indefinitely.

All this proves that man, though he has become less naive in some things, has nonetheless learned nothing as far as essentials are concerned; the only thing of which man is capable, when left to himself, is to ‘commit old sins in new ways.’” ~ Frithjof Schuon

” Hey Hippies! Thanks for all the support during Vietnam! And you new Neo-Hippies! We get it ? you?re oh-so-different from your 60s counterparts because you ?support the troops but not the war.? War never solves anything, but lying around, smoking weed, and listening to subpar jam bands is undoubtedly making this world a better place as we speak. God, I hate Hippies.”

VE Vet, I’m sure you know that a lot of the 60s hippies are running our government, now. That contributes to all the problems we have with liberals. They spent all their time looking of free everything including free love. I guess it worked on some girls. I am with you, I spent my time earning a living and making my way in this life. No one ever gave me a dime and I never asked for one. I thought, at one time when I was younger, what might happen if I lost my job with house payments, car payments… Read more »

Congratulations. I and my Vietnam Era brethren (those who got in country / and those who didn’t get sent there ) have a special affinity for the Hippie turds as they were the one’s spitting on us and calling us all sorts of foul epithets. “Baby Killer” was the chief one and a lot of that was thanks to “Lurch” Kerry our last Secretary of State under the Commie Obama. Him and his Purple Owies – what a sham! Just be glad that you weren’t made to feel like a second class citizen like we were for serving our country… Read more »

VE – thanks for your service. The new breed of ‘progressives’ – be the hippies, neo-hippies, one worlders or whatever, ALWAYS have ‘succeeded’ their forbears by claiming that they are smarter than them and THIS time they will get it ‘right’. End result is always the same, only thing that actually changes is the numbers of their victims…………

Bob M.

More fear mongering. Let’s put it into perspective: NoKo has 1/2 the GDP of the state of Vermont. I’m all for vigilance, but I’m also for sanity. After all, we’re BROKE, in case you may not have gotten the memo!

Wild Bill

The U.S. missed a massive bullet when a programer at DHS stumbled over malware that would turn off the three U.S. electrical grids. Nor is that the only way to turn off the electricity in the U.S. Absent electricity the U.S. would go back to life as it was in 1890, negating the U.S. as a superpower with out bombing a single city. What do you suppose would happen in the U.S. if we all went back to 1890 in less than a week?

GomeznSA

Bob – you may very well be correct in labeling such articles as ‘fear mongering’ but I have to wonder if you just ‘might’ have a bit of the it hasn’t happened before so it never will syndrome. Or at the very least it won’t happen to YOU. Any person that does not have at least a modicum of preparedness supplies at hand is making a potentially life threatening (or ending) bet. No thanks.

Clark Kent

‘Preparedness supplies’ for what? So you think you can last 250 years until it is safe to come out of your shelter (only to find nothing)? Catch a clue; nuclear war is for losers all around but especially for the (few) survivors.

roscoethehat

Bob if you remember Hillary said they were “dead broke” when they left the White House too. If we are broke I submit that paying for Refugees, welfare, foreign aid, UN programs, Climate change, minimum $200,000 per year paycheck plus benies to legislators, federal healthcare for 8million citizens, Dozens of Federal LE Departments, Multiples of intelligence department, Department of education, financing everything from the NAACP to CAIR with fed$ …would stop. Broke may be real but it is a matter of view. Germany prior to WWII was BROKE and massed quite a show as you may recall. The actual cannot… Read more »

Clark Kent

‘Benies’ to legislators? Is that like a beret? Or is it some sort of pastry? P.S. All legislators DO NOT make a minimum of $200,000 per year. Grow up; your ignorance is painful.

Wild Bill

@VE If we, prepared three percent, can keep another select seven percent alive. Then the nation will continue.

Clark Kent

‘Continue’ as what? A ruined, radioactive wasteland? No thanks.

Wild Bill

@"MCCLOUD!" K, Die if you want. Commit suicide afterward, if you like. But what if you live in spite of yourself, and your beliefs? Well, at least you could be food for someone else.

VE Veteran - Old Man's Club

Once again we can see the damage the Progressive left has caused. They think everyone is good and you only have to say a few nice words to them and their bad intentions will go away. This is naïve and dangerous thinking. That other guy with the bad intentions might be nodding like they understand but they will put a bullet through your head just as soon as look at you. I’ve been out in the world and have seen how they view us … it isn’t all hugs and Kumbaya as the left would have you believe. We need… Read more »

Unfortunately quite a few of our latest crop of vets have not gotten the message. As Wild Bill said, we need to protect ourselves – and then save as many as we can – especially true in a cataclysmic scenario. I for one don’t really want to go back to late 1800s living standards – but will if I have to……….

Clark Kent

We would be lucky to go back to early prehistoric man living standards. You have obviously not gotten the message of what modern nuclear war would do to the earth and its environs. There is no ‘protection’ possible for the long run.

JR Bailey

Really? Nuclear war is not survivable? Apparently you’ve not seen recent pictures of Hiroshima and Nagasaki! Tactical nuclear war is very survivable! Tactical nuclear war is very survivable! Tactical nuclear war is very survivable! Tactical nuclear war is very survivable! Tactical nuclear war is very survivable! Tactical nuclear war is very survivable!
