BELLEVUE, WA – -(Ammoland.com)- The Second Amendment Foundation today announced a project to help students who have been harassed, intimidated or bullied for resisting peer pressure to join the wave of protests against guns and the right to keep and bear arms.

“A student’s First Amendment rights should not be violated because they support the Second Amendment,” said SAF founder and Executive Vice President Alan M. Gottlieb. “There have been several reports over the past couple of weeks about students who have been harassed or encountered other problems from students, teachers or administrators for not joining in the protests. If that’s happening, it isn’t right and should not be tolerated.

“Students can call the SAF toll-free hotline to obtain information about legal help and report violations of their First Amendment rights,” he added. “The foundation is prepared to take legal action if necessary.”

The SAF toll-free hotline number is 800-426-4302.

“All schools should be safe for all students,” Gottlieb observed. “We should all be on alert for harassment or intimidation of students who disagree with an uncivil mob mentality. After all, not all school age Americans agree with the current demands for more erosion of our Second Amendment rights.

“While we encourage young Americans to speak their minds and engage in productive debate and dialogue about this issue,” he said, “we cannot condone any behavior designed to silence or intimidate others with different viewpoints. That is why we are announcing this project to help students who support their constitutional rights.

“We recognize that in times of high emotion and short tempers, there is inevitably the potential for disagreement to get out of hand,” Gottlieb noted. “It is often too easy to go beyond the bounds of rational discourse and enter the realm of vindictiveness. If we are to find the common ground everyone seems to seek, we’ve got to find it together. If students are penalized for exercising their First Amendment rights to defend the Second Amendment, we want to know about it.”

There is a lot of bullying in our schools. I have a niece that was bullied so much that she had to transfer to another school. Parents are not teaching our children the things at home that they should. The society that I grew up in has changed so much that I am glad that I don’t have kids in school now. I feel remorse and sorrow for the families that lost loved ones in the Florida school shooting. I wonder if there may have been some underlying problems there that happened in the past that caused Cruz to become… Read more »

You did the right thing with all of them. I have seen the time that boys would not allow other boys to pick on a girl but now times have changed and so have manners. My little granddaughter has been told the same thing. She had a new class member that was a boy that was picking on her and some of her friends at lunch time. He would grab their cartons of milk and shake it up before he would hand it back to them. My wife told her that the next time he did that to knee him… Read more »

SAF reported membership of young adults 18-20 year olds is up 1,200% since the Feb.14 Florida school shooting, we dont hear about this in the media, we only see and hear from those that dont believe in self defense..and CNN’s puppet boy is now making the false accusation that the NRA is harassing him

I am glad to see that money I give to the SAF is being used in this manner.
It does show the absolute stupidity of these children though if you were truly afraid of a school shooting would you bully someone that obviously has access to a firearm? That a little like somebody throwing rocks at me while I open carry, wait that has happened. Never said these leftists were smart.

SAF needs to start a broader youth organization. They could call it something like “Minors In Possession, MIP” It appears 21 is the new age of majority. Support MIPs Tee shirts could be distributed. Or a subdued MIP left shoulder logo on a Tee shirty to help youth identify each other without upsetting the snowflakes..

They have been taught how to give their rights away because “it feels good”.
To the future generations who are yet to be tax payers and still are not eligible to vote,
GOOD, LUCK, AND GOD BLESS YOU!

Hmm, if these little mush for brains darlings can wear Che shirts and tee shirts with the Mexican flag on it how about students wearing an NRA or GOA tee shirt?

Reports abound of students doing precisely that, and gettinf FORCED to remove the “offending” attire as “not suitable” for school wear. Meanwhile, other REALLY offsneive, perverse, diabolical, immoral shirts are woth with impunity. Viewpoint discrimination? Nah, could never be!!!!!!
