Repeal the Second Amendment
Time to Repeal the 2nd Amendment & Ban Guns, How is That Working For You?

USA-(Ammoland.com)- To safeguard individual liberty, the State of Virginia became the last to approve the Bill of Rights on December 15, 1791, thus limiting government’s power over its citizens

Today’s protesters have called on the government to “do something” about guns and point to retired Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens’ recent cry to abolish the Second Amendment. Well, countrymen and women, there’s an “app” to do just that.

What’s missing in any discussions, however, seems to be some basic understanding of the process to repeal an amendment to the U.S. Constitution, as well as the reasons why so many Americans find the notion utterly revolting when their liberties are under attack.

The Constitution provides that an amendment may be proposed either by Congress with a two-thirds majority vote in both the House of Representatives and the Senate or by a constitutional convention called for by two-thirds of the State legislatures.

A proposed amendment becomes part of the Constitution as soon as it is ratified by three-fourths of the States (38 of 50 States). In today’s divide – evidenced at every turn in government – it’s difficult to comprehend any such agreement on anything, let alone something as drastic as limiting foundational, unalienable rights of self-protection. Our Forefathers have provided a roadmap that cannot be superseded by any amount of bellyaching alone.

The rationale for gun owners to own a particular type of firearm or sheer numbers of them is often heard in sentences beginning with the words, “Why do you need…?” It’s a bogus question, it’s irrational, and a non-starter for any sensible discussion about guns. Here’s why.

The psychologist Abraham Maslow developed a theory suggesting humans are motivated to satisfy five basic needs, the first of which relates to issues of survival. While many folks today may focus more on pay and benefits to meet their most basic needs, others see survival in a more literal sense. On June 27, 2005, the Supreme Court ruled, once again, that police have no constitutional duty to protect a person from harm. That duty and its inherent stark reality, therefore, rest on the shoulders of individuals. That’s where the “need” for guns begins for so many of us. What type and how many become no more than personal preference for various situations. The desire to own even more guns goes deeper than that.

Many people will invest in firearms and knives as alternatives to antique vehicles, gold, or other forms of capital; others keep them for myriad hunting purposes. Firearms in a general sense were not always the best of investments, however, increasing in value at a lesser rate than inflation in years gone by. But we’ve witnessed the fact that as protesters protest and politicians push for infringements on Second Amendment protections, demand for firearms increases proportionately.

Consider the Obama administration years as a prime example of this economic reality and incessant talk about banning certain types of guns.

Gun Bans Gun Control Blah Blah Blah
So, if anyone wants to begin an honest discussion about guns, let’s start with some honest reality and not mere hyperbole so prevalent today.

The total economic impact of the firearms and ammunition industry in the United States increased from $19.1 billion in 2008 to $51.4 billion in 2017. A 169 percent increase, while the total number of full-time equivalent jobs rose from approximately 166,000 to almost 310,000, an 87 percent increase in that period, according to a recent report released by the National Shooting Sports Foundation, the industry’s trade association. There has been no better gun salesman than President Obama and his minions in the history of this country, and it occurred in an otherwise downward economy!

So, for those that desire change, you have it. Tens of millions more firearms are in the hands of law-abiding American citizens since the failed enactment of the “assault weapons” ban of 1994. If “no more guns” means confiscation, just how will it be implemented? How will they be gotten from criminals? And, how will anyone prevent basement manufacture or black market trade?

So, if anyone wants to begin an honest discussion about guns, let’s start with some honest reality and not mere hyperbole so prevalent today.

Simple, Keep Americans in charge of Americans rights. repeal liberals and stop non Americans from getting into American politics because that’s what started this entire issue and the rise of the liberal party headed by democrats began.

The British tried this in 1775 it didn’t work out to well for them.

While you are at it, let’s repeal the 1st Amendment. We’ll start with you sign carrying anit-Americans….

Stop acting like the Second Amendment ‘grants’ anybody anything. All it does is codify the fact that under the Constitution (you DO remember the Constitution, ignored and ‘interpreted’ almost to death), the government is forbidden to deny or limit a RIGHT that existed long before the founding of that government, before the First American Revolution, before the ‘discovery’ of this continent.

Any attempt at ‘repeal’ is nothing more than words, any attempt to disarm the populace will precipitate the next American Revolution.

Get rid of abortion and then I will talk about it.

Chris H.

There is no guarantee of the right to an abortion to be found in the United States Constitution. That right, like many others which appear to exist today on exists in the twisted minds of what are laughingly called Supreme Court justices. These legal “scholars” are so twisted that they envy the lack of directional deviance of a pretzel.

JoeUSooner

That is absolutely true. The Constitution does not identify abortion as a natural right… the government considers abortion a “granted” right. The government claims that it retains the self-defined ability to readily revoke abortion rights at any time.

The government wants ALL citizens’ rights to be classified as “granted” rather than “natural.”

No we won’t!

Sadly neither democrats or republicans respect any of the Constitution they are willing to create expostfacto laws against any and all parts of the Constitution. The “supreme court” is also willing to ignore the Constitution, We the People don’t stand up for our rights they are being stolen as we watch.

Wild Bill

I think that most people do not realize that diminishing any Constitutional Civil Right is diminishing the limitations on Government. If one wants an all powerful “government”, then allow the erosion of Civil Rights. Absent controls on government, we will all be sitting in our dirt floor hut, wondering what happened to the heat, electricity, running water, and what the government will do next for the greater good of the people.

I honestly do not care if the 2nd Amendment is repealed. I could care less because it makes absolutely no difference. Rights come from our Creator not from some dead piece of paper or the whims of degenerate voters.

I say get rid of the Second Amendment! What private citizen needs a gun? What would we do without that kind Mr. Hitler’s idea about the Autobahn and the promotion of the peoples car the VW? I have found it wonderful I can leave my front door unlocked with no danger whatsoever and that driving through any neighborhood in a major city is a joy. And, that stupid thing in the second paragraph, third sentence of the Declaration of Independence should mean nothing, what did those guys know about tyranny anyway? Sure we can trust our freedoms and lives to… Read more »

We will never lose.

We have the guns! We have the God-given rights. We simply need to use those guns to secure our rights against government intrusion.

I swore an oath – that has no expiration date – to defend this Constitutional Republic from domestic enemies (among others). I do not take that oath lightly. Nor do other veterans.

We will never lose.

Where do these humanoids come from.I can’t believe they are a product of natural breeding. They have to be a product of two humanoids who’s minds has been burned out by all the drugs their parents have been taking an smoking. These people just proved there should be a law that they should not be allowed breed.

None of the 10 amendments that make up our BoR can be repealed. These are natural, God-given so they can’t be taken away.

…but do not think someone will not TRY! The price of freedom -including the entire list of GOD-given rights- is eternal vigilance! Those who forget or ignore this will doom us all to repeat the trauma!

Well, said. The gun control types have said that they intend to ban all guns as an end results. Public figures have said it does not matter if they lie to do so. Animal rights supporters have said that they will eliminate all hunting, and they have since added fishing to their goals. The people of the UK and Australia both say they were misled by those who sought to totally ban firearms, and who used one little step after another starting with those evil semi-automatic guns which they misidentified as “assault weapons”. That a POTUS would sign on to… Read more »

The rights themselves cannot by taken away by anyone but God. But the Bill of Rights most certainly can be repealed, and that step would remove all restrictions on government. It would also simultaneously instigate the second Revolution and the second Civil War… but it (repeal) can be done.

RodCK

They have already tried to take god away from Us. No more prayers in public Schools, The Liberal Judges and Communistic Democrats Have seen to that. They support abortion how many babies are they killing every year?
I am sure that count would be higher than the shooting count. I guess that is also a mental illness that will never be treated. The tyranny listed in the constitution was meant to defend against exactly the type of government our nation has become
