CO Congresswoman-Elect Lauren Boebert Tells AmmoLand ‘I’ll Defend 2A’

U.S.A.-(AmmoLand.com)- Chat with Colorado Congresswoman-elect Lauren Boebert, the gun-toting restaurant owner who famously told gun-grabber Beto O’Rourke “Hell, no, you won’t take our guns,” and you might imagine Capitol Hill Democrats frantically yelling, “Incoming!”

Speaking via telephone to AmmoLand, the feisty 33-year-old mother of four who describes her Western Slope neighbors and constituents as “a bunch of rugged individuals full of grit and determination,” made it clear she will not back down from a Second Amendment battle. The potential for a congressional confrontation on gun control is more likely now than it has been in recent memory, with perennial anti-gunner Joe Biden evidently heading to the White House and his gun-grabbing running mate Kamala Harris prepping to be president of the Senate.

“I expect to be on the front lines of any gun control fight,” Boebert said. “Our constitutional right to keep and bear arms exists even in places that reject that fundamental principle. And in Washington, D.C.  I will always be a loud voice and strong advocate for all of our constitutional rights.”

She recalled driving three hours to an O’Rourke campaign event held in Aurora, with her Glock pistol on her belt, to “look him in the eye” and tell the former Texas congressman he was not taking anyone’s guns. It was a pivotal moment that may have ignited the political fire in her belly.

“I am not ashamed of standing for the Second Amendment,” she stated.

Boebert might be the female embodiment of the fictional Horatio Alger; a woman who decided to overcome the conditions of her youth ultimately becoming a symbol of the independence she represents.

“I am living the American dream,” Boebert said unabashedly, describing herself as a self-taught conservative. “I was raised in a Democrat household under failed Democrat policies. I started working at 15 years old and bringing mom home that first paycheck showed me that I can do a better job of taking care of myself than the government ever could.”

She left high school in her senior year, working at a local McDonalds where she was offered “a fantastic management position” where she would be making a very good wage. Boebert obtained a GED, and professed to enjoy learning, and says she excelled “in all of my classes.” But for her, there was “more value in the job.”

Ultimately, she founded the Shooters Grill in Rifle, a community on the Centennial State’s western slope along Interstate 70, several miles west of Glenwood Springs, which is famous as the final resting place of Dr. John Henry “Doc” Holliday, the famed gambler and pal of Wyatt Earp.

She openly carried a Glock pistol on the job because she often worked late and alone. She recalled how a man was fatally beaten outside the restaurant, which helped her reach the decision to be armed. Her staff began carrying, and the restaurant became nationally, and even internationally, famous.

While the gun rights issue may have brought her into the public spotlight, Boebert spent a year traveling across Colorado’s huge Third Congressional District, talking about the economy and jobs, energy and jobs, agriculture and jobs; the ability of those western Coloradoans to earn good livings and take care of themselves and their families rather than essentially becoming wards of the government.

She defeated the incumbent at the primary, and fended off a challenge from Democrat Diane Mitsch Bush in the general election, all the while making no secret she was also running as a counter to far-left Democrat Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and her three colleagues known as “The Squad.” Boebert’s message evidently resonated from Craig to Cortez, and now she’s heading for Washington, D.C.

She made news recently for inquiring about carrying her pistol in the District, where she plans to be walking back and forth to work in a city with a homicide rate far higher than any community in her district.

With the Democrat House majority shrinking by several seats, they may not be able to press their full gun control agenda, but that may also depend upon the outcome of Georgia’s special election for the state’s two U.S. Senate seats, which occurs Jan. 5. Democrats and Republicans are both pouring fortunes into those races. If the GOP retains Senate control, that body will be the barrier to a presumptive Biden administration’s agenda. If Democrats capture both seats, all bets are off.

Looking at the foggy horizon, Congresswoman-elect Boebert is standing firm in her commitment to put her constituents first, and always work for their interests. But she will have limits, especially where their Constitutional rights are concerned.

“I’m always willing to work across the aisle,” Boebert said, “if it doesn’t grow government or cost the American people more money, and if the Democrats can’t agree on the Constitution of the United States of America, then I guess that’s where we draw the line. So, me having my constitutional right to keep and bear arms, if that prevents them from working with me for the good of the people, then maybe they need to reconsider being there at all.”

Boebert was on Cam & Co. indicating she was going to fight to retain the right for politicians to continue to carry in the Capitol building:

https://bearingarms.com/cam-e/2020/12/17/boebert-blasts-dems-capitol-gun-ban-plan/

I’m sure Cam Edwards would have given her a couple minutes to allow her to speak out against the BATFE’s actions involving braced pistols and 80% pistol lowers.

I bet he would even have given her a few minutes to begin refuting the lies that support never-ending gun control.

However, she remained silent on both topics.

After the interview, Cam spoke about her goats. Talk about opportunity lost.

Dave Workman, Boebert tweets non-stop about God, guns, and those darn Democrats. If you have a connection with her, can you please let her know that the firearm community has noticed she has not said one word about the out-of-control BATFE that is under Trump’s control? Is she playing politics like every other legislator, or does she really care about the 2nd Amendment, irrespective of who is treading on it? People keep apologizing for Trump saying he’s not a “gun guy” so he’s not paying attention and all the people around him are not gun people, so its just a… Read more »

She should start right now.

She tweets non-stop.

Republican voters are far too forgiving of Republican politicians who don’t speak up.

Why do you feel it necessary to refer to her as a “young woman?”

I’ll remind you, Trump also promised to protect your 2nd Amendment. Then he started banning stuff, calling for the utter revocation of the 2nd Amendment altogether for everyone under the age of twenty one. Then derailed legislative efforts to deregulate hearing protection for shooters, and their kids. Called for unconstitutional red flag laws at both state and federal levels. And for Criminy sake! Hired lifetime swamp creature Bill Barr for the top “law enforcement” job in the Republic! The man wrote briefs to the court excusing the assassins that killed Vicky Weaver, her son, and their dog from sniper positions… Read more »

Ditto. Lauren will not be sucked into the evil machinations of the Leftists. I’ve talked with her mother and been to the Grill several times. She’s got her constituents behind her. Remember back a few years ago you had a large group of them who wanted to secede.

Excellent. One out of 535 members of Congress who will stand up and tell the truth about firearms, gun control, and violent criminals. I can’t wait for her next interview when she makes it clear: o  There is no such thing as “gun violence” o  There is no such thing as an “assault weapon” o  What the media and politicians call an “assault rifle” is not an assault rifle o  AR15s are not “extremely powerful” o  Violent crime is not primarily driven by access to firearms o  High crime neighborhoods have dysfunctional micro-cultures – that is the primary reason for their high crime rate o  Violent criminals… Read more »

President Trump could have avoided this by not encouraging policy that is exactly the opposite of what he promised the most loyal subset of his base.

Given that he chose to not go that route, the fight to prove the massive voter fraud would have been better handled by people other than Guiliani and Barr – both of whom were chosen by Trump (and, unrelated, both of whom are anti-2nd Amendment).

Will, you know if looking at pictures of women is your thing, you are only a few keyboard clicks away from looking at women who are younger and more attractive than Boebert.

Getting back to why most people supported her, maybe Boebert should start speaking out against the current actions of the BATFE.

Is she not speaking up because she knows the BATFE reports to Trump and she is refusing to cause any waves within the Republican party?

I’m not sure why your comment is getting such flak considering everything you’ve said is true. Republicans have done more damage to the 2A at the federal level in the last 40 years than Democrats have. Reagan, Bush Sr., and Trump have all enacted arms control with the help of their colleagues in Congress that still effects us today. All we can do now is hope that Lauren fights her Republican colleagues on gun control with the same vigor that she fights the Democrats. History has shown us that they rarely do, though.

Careful, some folks have TDS-Type B.

I’ve made similar statements and have been called a liar. I posted the links to the proof and the person did not respond.

Apologists for anti-gun Republicans just make the problem worse.

KDude,

There’s a big difference.
Boebert worked her way up w/o Daddy’s help and has a consistent pro-gun record.
DJT has neither. He was an anti-gun Democrat for the vast majority of his life. He’s made pro-gun comments, but he’s pushed the ATF to make anti-constitutional moves and made public statements that are utterly unconstitutional.
Before deciding that she’s just another RINO, you might want to take a look at her record and give her the chance of being sworn in.

I agree with all of that and also recognize DJT has encouraged more gun control than you stated.

I remain optimistic about Boebert. If she attempts to refute the lies about firearms, gun control, and violent crime she will be one out of 535, so I’m also realistic in my expectations.

I’m not disagreeing with you – there are just so many politicians who have not been assertive about these matters once they are in office (at the Federal level).

I couldn’t care less if the legislator was: A fairly young somewhat attractive female high school drop out who runs a cafe in a little town; A Seal who uses proprietary hair gel; or A Harvard lawyer. All I care about is the policy they advance. I hope Boebert starts going well beyond her election pitch (Glock-toting-Mom-runs-cafe) to “a legislator who finally starts discussing the truth about firearms, gun control, and violent crime.” So far she seems hesitant to shed light on the details of the issues. If she does start dispelling the lies, she may be able to reach… Read more »

Lauren,

I saw your interview on Newsmax a few days ago. The person interviewing you was a typical anti-gun media stooge. He said something to the effect of surely you don’t support the right of ordinary people to own powerful weapons like AR15s. You didn’t take him on, but instead said you carried a Glock because it’s easy to clean.

The firearm community is counting on you to set these guys straight.

Hope to see you set these guys straight in the future.

Like I said, it was the Newsmax stooge. I’m a big fan of Representative-elect Boebert. She ran largely on being pro 2nd Amendment and I suspect after that interview she beat herself up for not giving a better answer. It was the perfect opportunity to let that white woman in Schaumburg, Illinois know that Bill O’Reilly and every other talking head on cable news (including the hero Pete Hegseth) have been lying to her. 87% of America would be shocked to find out that the typical cartridge for which AR15s are chambered is much less “powerful” than most cartridges used… Read more »

I can’t think of one legislator at the national level that spends any significant effort to argue against the lies that are repeated hundreds of times a day by the media and politicians. Lauren, here’s a starting point: There is no such thing as “gun violence” There is no such thing as an “assault weapon” What the media and politicians call an “assault rifle” is not an assault rifle AR15s are not “extremely powerful” Violent crime is not primarily driven by access to firearms High crime neighborhoods have dysfunctional micro-cultures – that is the primary reason for their high crime… Read more »

We’ve had nearly 100 years of significant federal gun control in the US — and it’s done nothing to prevent crime. The NFA? Its stupid attempt to prevent gangsters from having MGs, SBRs, and SBSs made it expensive enough that only gangsters could afford to legally own them. It just got worse from there.

Rep. Boebert go get ’em and get our rights back!
