With the punishment they take,
I’d be afraid they’d break !
Heat and ware and tear of normal use,
I think will snap at the point where the ,
side rail with assist cuts and the main
carrier meet .
There are a lot of lightweight carriers/BCG’s on the market and I’ve not heard any reports of wholesale breakage. Many are in competition guns that see a lot of rounds. I remember people saying the same thing about my aluminum bolt carrier. 30 years ago. 🙂
People said the same thing about polymer handgun frames and aluminum rifle receivers. Look where we are today!
I bought one five years ago, one of the best purchases I’ve ever made.
A solution in search of a problem.
No thanks.
an article on Recoil web listed some of the lightweight bolt carrier assemblies.
personally I can’t get excited over losing a whole 3 oz from an AR.

It’s not about losing 3oz… It’s about losing 3 oz here, 4 oz there, 1.347 oz here, 6 oz there, and so on….
It’s also about reducing the mass reciprocating after each shot.
You are both correct in what you say. It must have a warranty if it does break. My question is “just what is the warranty” Sure ,they replace the part but will I be stuck with a lousy day at the range, a broken part and a no problem just send us the broken part and we will replace it for free. Who pays for the S&H, down time, and any other damage incurred from the part letting go? The manufacturer won’t even talk to you except to tell you that you just voided the warranty by using an aftermarket… Read more »
It’s not gonna break.
Would a lightweight BCG in 300 blackout allow someone to shoot subsonic rounds more reliably without a suppressor?
