President Trump Comments on the Collapse in U.S. Law Enforcement ~ VIDEO

Opinion & Comments
By John Lott

In a press conference this past Tuesday, President Trump read from two of the Crime Prevention Center Research Center’s newest research reports. One report shows how violent crime fell by 17 percent during the Trump administration and then soared by 43 percent under Biden. The second report shows how law enforcement in the U.S. has collapsed. We show how the drop in arrest rates over the last few years from 2020 to 2022 is without precedent, and that is particularly true for the largest cities.

The arrest rates for violent and property crimes have never been anywhere near as low as they are now.

By the way, I got to talk to President Trump for a few minutes when he traveled to Bozeman, Montana, on August 9th. 2024. He told me he appreciated my research on crime, gun control, and vote fraud. After the assassination attempt, I was a little concerned about what impact that might have on Trump’s views on gun control, but my brief meeting with me gave me confidence that his views hadn’t changed.

In these recent speeches, Trump stated:

“And we had a couple of instances last night where things were mentioned. So I got it. Did crime rise under Trump and fall under Biden? They said it rose under Trump and and they go, No, the opposite is true. Take a look at this here. It said, Is it true? Did crime rise under Trump and fall under Biden? No. Comma, the opposite is true. This was a study group that went out and doesn’t care, they do the numbers and there was another one that a historical comparison of the collapse of law enforcement in US cities, the drop in arrest rates over the last few years is without precedent. Lowest arrest rates we’ve ever seen. They don’t arrest people anymore.” Transcript provided by ABC News, August 20, 2024.

In President Trump’s presentation on Tuesday, August 20th, 2024, in Michigan, he read from two recent Crime Prevention Center Research posts. Trump referenced our research on how violent crime fell under Trump, rose under Biden, and law enforcement collapsed over the last few years.

Here is yet another example of Democrats falsely claiming that crime has dropped under Biden. If they claimed REPORTED crime fell, they would at least have a credible claim.

Trump continues:

Trump: “her administration’s crime statistics show she’s presided over a 43% increase in violent crime. These are all government numbers, 43% increase in violent crime. I bet the people behind me don’t have anything like that. Just gets better. It doesn’t get worse, including a 58% increase in rape, 89% increase in aggravated assault, and a 56% increase in robbery. The crime in America, the fact is, is out of control.”

The numbers cited by Trump here were also from the NCVS that our report discussed.

Here are statements by Kamala Harris from 2020 where she strongly recommended taking funding from the police.

Cops are like teachers: it’s a shitty job, but we need to reward the good ones and get rid of the bad ones. Funding boosts to law enforcement? Absolutely in favor of it, when accompanied by the removal of qualified immunity and a crackdown on authoritarian cops who infringe on the rights of law-abiding citizens. Strong sentences for those who commit violent crimes? Absolutely, to include those in uniform who are allowed to routinely abuse suspects and break the law because their department does not enforce the law equally…and if you think believing this makes me soft on crime, just… Read more »

Let history record that liberals desperately tried to save themselves from “gun nuts”. But “Trump supporters” interfered.

CPRC research reports are like a Trump Financial; filled with self serving fiction. Even better when a convicted Felon uses them
