Democrat’s Bill Would Have Courts Lock Up Your Guns

Washington DC - -(Ammoland.com)-  In response to the immediate push for more gun control following three stabbing deaths and three shooting deaths in Santa Barbara, two Democrats in California’s State Assembly are considering “gun violence restraining orders” that could leed to bans on gun ownership for persons convicted of Driving Under the Influence (DUI).

According to The Christian Science Monitor, on May 27 2014 assembly members Nancy Skinner (D-15) and Das Williams (D-37) “announced their plans” to introduce a new mental health-based gun control measure called a “gun violence restraining order.”

The new gun control would put a mechanism in place where legal gun owners–who have passed NCIS background checks, registered their firearms with the state, and not broken the law–can have their guns confiscated if a family member believes they have a mental health problem of which the state is not aware.

It would provide an avenue through which “a family member could petition the court to temporarily remove firearms from a person they think poses a credible risk of harm to himself or others.”

The idea for “gun violence retraining orders” is part of a recommendation from the Consortium for Risk-Based Firearm Policy which also suggests firearm prohibitions for other “risk factors”–including “drug or alcohol abuse (linked to DUI convictions or misdemeanors involving a controlled substance).”

Unbelievable ! … California residents have issues that will never go away with the State being taken over by boneheaded liberals … I could not wait to bail out of that state ( and I was born their, worked their, and I LOVED Southern Calif. UP TO THE POINT they flipped ) and now it is OREGON to the end …. At least we treat gun owners as Normal folks . California Citizens need to Question their leaders and ask if they are DUI ? Looks that way.

Well, it’s a good first step.
I see that “family member” isn’t defined, so let’s go with someone living in your household as “family member.”
That means that if I own a gun, but my 16-year-old daughter dislikes guns, she can denounce me as a danger to herself, and get my gun rights taken away.

When that doesn’t work, the next step is needed; anyone who knows me can now denounce me.

When that doesn’t work (the killings continue, but not by me) then what? Well, obviously, *all* gun rights must be suspended (well, almost all – the friends of influential people still want to hunt, after all).

Then what? As in other countries where guns are outlawed, outlaws will still, somehow, manage to get guns. (Aren’t drugs outlawed here? Don’t we spend $15 Billion/year on the war on drugs? Has that worked?) What’s next?

I’d really like to know. There *must* be a plan.

This is what happens after you allow gun registration. Once they know who has guns they will come up with every excuse to confiscate them until criminals with unregistered and stolen guns are the only ones who will be armed. Makes perfect sense huh? Gun registration has never led to crime reduction in any country or state where it has been tried. It is simply a scam to eventually take your guns away. That is the only purpose it serves.
