ROCHESTER, N.H. –-(AmmoLand.com)- Thompson/Center Arms Company Inc., a Smith & Wesson company, announced that it has begun shipping the new ICON® Precision Hunter bolt-action rifles. Utilizing Thompson/Center Arms’ “Foundation for Accuracy,” the ICON Precision Hunter features the innovative Interlock™ bedding system along with a match-grade barrel with 5R rifling. This combination of features provides the level of consistency, reliability, functionality and accuracy needed for long-range hunting applications.

“Thompson/Center has continued to push the definition of accuracy in a production rifle with the new ICON Precision Hunter, which is certified to deliver sub-Minute of Angle (MOA) accuracy right out of the box,” said Tom Kelly, Vice President of Marketing for Smith & Wesson. “We have listened to the bench shooters and varmint hunters, heard their ideas on what a perfect gun for their style of hunting would be and have designed the ICON Precision Hunter to exceed their expectations.”

The new ICON Precision Hunter rifle embodies all the aspects of a long-range hunting rifle, from its solid machined receiver to its heavy 22-inch fluted barrel with target crown. Each rifle comes standard with a laminated hardwood stock with cheek piece and beavertail forend. The ICON Precision Hunter is shot and certified to meet Thompson/Center’s tough standards; sub-MOA accuracy (a 3 shot group in less than one inch at 100 yards). The certification target is shipped with each rifle.

To meet the demands of varmint hunters who routinely fire hundreds of rounds per day, the ICON Precision Hunter employs Thompson/Center Arms’ new Cooling Enhancement System, engineered to disperse heat from the barrel and forend. This unique system, designed to aid the barrel’s deep fluting, consists of ported cooling channels in the forend which draws cooler air up and around the largest part of the barrel enabling maximum air circulation for consistent accuracy.

Other features of the ICON Precision Hunter include an Integral base for Picatinny-style scope rings along with an adjustable 3.5 to 5 pound trigger pull with minimal creep and over-travel. The rifle is standard with BOLT-LOK™ , which allows the user to load and unload the firearm with the safety on. The rifle’s Switch Bolt™ feature provides the flexibility to change out the bolt handle in order to meet the desired feel of each individual shooter. The ICON Precision Hunter is made in America and backed by Thompson/Center Arms’ lifetime warranty. The ICON Precision Hunter will be chambered in .22-250, .204, .223, .243 and .308. All models feature a 3+1 detachable magazine with single shot adapter.

The ICON Precision Hunter will have an anticipated retail price of $1,149. For more information on the ICON Precision Hunter, or to view the complete line of Thompson/Center Arms firearms and accessories, visit www.tcarms.com.
