NEWTOWN, Conn –-(AmmoLand.com)- The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) Marketing Communications Team has been honored with two 2010 APEX Awards, according to Chris Dolnack, senior vice president of NSSF.

One of the most prestigious awards for communications’ professionals in the country, the APEX Awards are based on excellence in graphic design, editorial content and the ability to achieve overall communications excellence.

The APEX Awards for Publishing Excellence, sponsored by Communications Concepts, Inc., given to the NSSF team were in the categories of Websites for the organization’s main website, www.nssf.org, and Special Purpose Campaigns, Programs and Strategic Plans for the year-long effort in educating the public about modern sporting rifles.

“We are extremely excited to be honored by APEX for our achievements with our new website and our educational campaign on the modern sporting rifle,” said Dolnack.

“Both of these projects required a unique mix of strategic thinking and then precise execution. The feedback we received on the two projects from our staff, members and the public has been great, and this is icing on the cake.”

With more than 3,700 entries, the competition was exceptionally intense this year, according to John De Lellis, editor and publisher of APEX’s Business Communication reports titled “Writing That Works.” One hundred awards were given in 11 major categories.

“The true measurement of these two areas of communication is the effectiveness of what they do for NSSF. The new website is setting records monthly for unique visitors and total visitors in communicating our critical messages,” said Mark E. Thomas, managing director of marketing communications for NSSF.

“My personal satisfaction in this is the fact that everyone in this department played a critical role in one or sometimes both of these initiatives. Awards are nice, but results are king. However, it is always gratifying to be recognized by your professional peers, and affirmation the work done here is second to none.”
