New Jersey –  -(Ammoland.com)- Our activism is working.

By making New Jersey's draconian and insane guns laws a central issue in local, State, and National news, Governor Christie fought back against the insane conditions New Jersey gun owners live under by conditionally vetoed A.3689 and S.816. A conditional veto is when the governor vetoes a bill sent to him by the legislature and amends it into something he is willing to sign. It is then sent back to legislature for approval. The conditions that Governor Christie put in his veto were for New Jersey to adopt shall-issue concealed carry and additionally to repeal the much derided “Smart Gun” law.

On shall-issue concealed carry, Christie said the following:

“for decades, law-abiding residents of New Jersey have had their Second Amendment right to self-protection burdened by gun laws that are among the most unreasonable in the country. . . . Rather than doubling down on the unreasonable requirements for law-abiding residents of New Jersey to obtain a concealed carry permit, I propose having New Jersey join the 42 other states that have adopted a “shall-issue” standard for approving such applications.”

This is a wonderful new development, but it's up to us to keep Christie's feet to the fire on this. NJ2AS is calling on Governor Christie to veto every single bill that comes to his desk until the legislature passes a shall-issue concealed carry bill and sends it to his desk to be signed. Before you say this is extreme, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger of California did the exact same thing to the California legislature when it refused to reform its budgetary problems and again until he got his way on a water reform bill. The difference between those two is that in California, a few legislators didn't get their pet projects paid for and a few people may have had brown lawns, in New Jersey, people are dying because they are denied their right to self defense, like Carol Bowne.

Stand with us in calling on Governor Christie to veto every bill the legislature sends him until we have shall-issue concealed carry. Please call the Governor's office to thank him for his bold actions and ask that he follow Governor Schwarzenegger's example and veto every single piece of legislation until they send shall-issue right-to-carry legislation to his desk. His office number is: 609-292-600

The last refuge of a scoundrel is to hide behind the 2nd-A after everything else he’s done has been rejected by the people. Perhaps if CC had endorsed “Shall Issue” when he first entered office, and worked to implement it, a lot of the other problems that have dogged him would never have arisen.

NJ should take a look at what NC has done since concealed carry permits have been issued,
without any law abiding citizen demonstrating a need for self defense or any other bravo sierra reason to own and lawfully carry concealed handguns.

The same old predictions of Dodge City, Blood in the Streets, Shootouts at the Corner, etc, etc, etc never happened.

Until the Democrats are voted out of office and replaced with pro gun politicians, they will never have their RTKBA.

I think this is very good, it is very important that he keeps up with this and stand his ground on this. Veto every thing that comes across his desk. Gov. Keep with it and with us.

How about, go for broke…veto every bill that comes through on gun control, licensing, background checks, etc., until the 2A is exercised as it should be! How about, not bargaining with or settling for less than a full institution of our rights? How about, every governor do the same, all over the country & show solidarity in the pursuit of Constitutionality? Here’s a real knee jerker…how about, congress make constitutional carry, a priority for the nation! I get so sick of hearing about these “victories” on something that should never…NEVER…have been an issue to begin with. If a politician wants… Read more »

I can’t believe that fat **** finally “Got it”!! This is huge for all the law abiding citizens of NJ. I just can’t help but to believe that there has to be some kind of hidden agenda in it for Christie! We shall see. I live in the peoples republic of communist Taxachusetts. Maybe our Gov.;” Charlie Baker” will grow a set of balls and follow suit. I can’t wait to see a reply from my on line friend!-“Tex”
