U.S.A.-( Let us get the jack booted thug analogy out of the way right up front. Jack boots are boots, that ride up mid-calf or higher and are not laced up. Most modern military and police organizations don't even use that type of footwear. There are a few ceremonial exceptions and of course the guys on the old TV show “Chips” wore that style of boot. Today's street cops and tactical team members wear lace up military style boots.

You are not going to find any hob-nails in the bottom of an FBI SWAT team members footwear.

This nation has a security issue that is creating consternation directed at the good order and discipline of my country. It would appear there are certain citizens in the employment of this great nation that want to do our homeland harm. They feel that they have been so grievously wounded by the recent political election of the new President of the United States that it behooves them to violate the rules of their federal employment and the strict security requirements of the nation they voluntarily signed on to protect.

When you volunteer to join the US military you immediately (within minutes of being sworn in) start to be educated on your duties and responsibilities in defending this nation. A couple of those early responsibilities is you do what you are told and you do not get to leak sensitive US secrets to the press or your buddies on the internet.

Now our civilian employees who work for federal agencies also are educated about the security of sensitive and/or classified information, they just sometimes forget the do what your told part. Sadly sometimes they truly believe the world loves whistle-blowers, because the press loves whistle-blowers. Civilians get to go to prison just like military members do when they steal and disseminate our nation's secrets.

An example has got to be made. In fact I do not think it is just one federal employee who is criminally giving away our national secrets. I think there are lots of the traitors out there. So I think a couple of very well orchestrated, three in the morning SWAT team assaults on low level federal employee homes is what is greatly needed.

First off make sure that the good guys (our federal law enforcement) have air tight evidence that Mr or Miss civil servant has in fact committed the treason and there is almost too much evidence to convict these traitors later in a court of law. Then get a very high ranking judge to authorize a search warrant. The more senior the judge the better the warrant looks during the trial.

Make sure you execute the search warrant in the middle of the night, and give the press a heads up 30 minutes prior to the “raid” going down. Have lots of marked squad cars, fire and ambulance vehicles and a marked vehicle that says “Child Protective Services” on the door, parked in front of the traitor's suburban D.C. home.

Bring the alleged traitor out onto the front lawn, hopefully in his pajamas and have him sit in the grass cuffed and guarded by multiple SWAT team members carrying lots of “black rifles”. Make sure his face is not covered and keep telling the media to “move back” all the while leaving Mr or Miss traitor in line for great long range photo ops by the whistle blower loving press.

Find Mr. Traitor's home computer and if there is any hint of unauthorized material on that device, next try and find out if the spouse of Mr or Miss Traitor has been using that same computer. If they have, put them in cuffs and have them sitting on the front lawn with their beloved significant-other. Now if there are any children in the home this is where the marked “Child Protective Services” vehicle comes in. Haul off the innocent children in the middle of the night. If you can get mom crying as her babies go “downtown” all the better for political optics.

I have to admit that as the Colonel was proofing this article she advised me I might be a little too hard on the children. I agreed with her, but the “child-card” is played by everyone. If you don't want to have your kids see you perp-walked out in chains, then follow the law and think twice about betraying our nation.

Make sure you haul off as many personal items as you legally can under the instructions of the search warrant and do that in front of the media. Then transport the traitor and spouse for interrogation. You let the spouse of the traitor go after 48 hours and advise the press you decline to prosecute the apparently unsuspecting innocent better-half. Of course even after the innocent spouse gets home it will take many days and many home visits by Child Protective Services to ensure the domicile is safe and secure to return the children.

After all we have to keep the nation safe for our children, who are our most precious resource–even if that precious resource is the biological off spring of a traitor.

You have to make the traitor's life miserable and then make it even more miserable so they start to talk and tell you who else is involved in these acts of treason, especially their seniors up the line. Follow the money, again especially if the money is actually political intrigue and not dollar bills.

What I am suggesting is not mean spirited or cruel. If your son or daughter was killed on active duty because of a classified leak of information, trust me you would not think “someone was being a bully on the playground.”

We have to give the press a pass when it comes to leaked classified information. They either do not know or more likely do not want to know how the information got released, they just want the story. The civilians and military members of the federal government know better. They have been taught and trained on what they can and cannot do with classified material. There is no gray area or guess work in the world of classified information. Leak it and you go to jail. Keep leaking it and maybe someone like Jack Reacher visits you in the middle of the night without the press and you never leak again.

In God we trust and in all others we verify. If one breaks that trust then just hope that Jack never comes up the hill looking for you, for Jill may never make it back down. Look up the real meaning of a “broken crown and come tumbling after.” Our nation cannot abide.

    1. Go interview the swat teams from new-Orleans, I’ve yet to hear a reasonable explanation to the “CONFISCATION”. that took place during Katrina. Absolute domination of the poulus will be a slow deterioration of all the rights you “think” you now have. We take our country back now! Or we may see our nation fade into history through usurpation of individual sovereignty to the point of full Totalitarianism. You think you’re free? Try to fill in a pond on your own property or put an addition of your house. do it just to see if the whole goes unnoticed by “Government Entities” that have only one real purpose, collecting revenue for the establishment.

    2. Perhaps the author should read more about the swat teams being used for non-violent warrants. There is a good book out on the abuses of swat teams by Radley Balko: Jack booted thugs is an analogy, not a belief. There is a reason people use it. Cato has an excellent article: Do a search on swat team abuse and also on Rasley Balko.

      This author’s mentality is scary.

    3. Darren sounds like some poor lost soul from the free love 70’s been cloistered in some ivy league listening to obummer type of professors .

      1. oldwet sounds like some washed up lefty, when you don’t have rational arguments to present you insult. Go, comrade, go. Saul Alinsky would be proud of you.

BTW, I’m just building on Patrick Henry’s ideas. Don’t you listen to PH? He listened to people like John Trenchard, you should too:

An Argument Shewing, that a Standing Army is inconsistent with a Free Government, and
absolutely destructive to the Constitution of the English Monarchy

“And if we enquire how these unhappy nations have lost that precious jewel liberty, and we as yet preserved it, we shall find their miseries and our happiness proceed from this, that their necessities or indiscretion have permitted a standing army to be kept amongst them, and our situation rather
than our prudence, hath as yet defended us from it, otherwise we had long since lost what is the most valuable thing under heaven…”

“…the Israelites, Athenians, Corinthians, Archaians, Lacedemonians, Thebans, Samnites, and
Romans; none of which nations whilst they kept their liberty were ever known to maintain any soldiers in constant pay within their cities…”

“This subject is so self-evident, that I am almost ashamed to prove it: for if we look through the world, we shall find in no country, liberty and an army stand together; so that to know whether a people are free or slaves, it is necessary only to ask, whether there is an army kept amongst them?”

        1. What exactly are you calling a standing army? You mention cities I know of no standing armies in cities, local sheriff and police although having to much military equipment are not standing army.

          1. The standing law enforcement establishment is today’s equivalent of a standing army. The Founders warned us against having a standing army. They knew that such a force would be used to oppress. Today, the “standing army” that we have to worry about domestically is the huge law enforcement establishment. I’m talking about not only state and local police but also agencies like the Internal Revenue Service, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco Firearms and Explosives, the Drug Enforcement Administration, and ad nauseum. Rather than deploy troops on the streets they use law enforcement to control us. While these agencies exist our liberty will always be in danger. Gun owners today can’t stand up to the law enforcement establishment much less the military. People that advocate civilian guns to counter-balance the government’s weapons are engaging in a dangerous fantasy that is rightly ridiculed. In the US since the government can’t disarm us completely they have armed themselves to the hilt. This has a similar effect as disarming us. One only needs look at the militarization of the law enforcement establishment to see this. There is only one answer and that is institutional change shutting down those agencies while building up the private means of defending ourselves.

    4. While the assault vehicles’ engines are still warm, teams should execute warrants in the exact style that you describe, Major, at 0330, on every treasonous bastard that consorted and coordinated with the enemy, to subvert our presidential election, and are now members of the Trump cabinet and administration. Trump deserves an honest and dedicated staff, that doesn’t include persons willing to disregard and/or subvert U. S. laws to assist the enemy in achieving their continuous and covert harmful attack against America. Many of us took an oath to protect this country from ALL “enemies, foreign and domestic”. This is what the words meant. Political affiliation bears no importance or favor where treason is involved.

      1. @Doug G. Trump now controls the USDOJ. He should purge it. Every Famous But Incompetent manager that doesn’t want to go after the liberal/progressive/socialist traitors, beginning with Barry Soetoro, Valery Jerret, and Hillary Clinton should get transferred to Ft Greeley, where they can investigate wild life violations.

    5. First let me thank you all ! Then I have never learned to sleep other than lightly, and locked and loaded as I believe I have read Wild Bill say Mans best friend is always close by. I have never found anything more loyal than a dog.

    6. Respectfully, I appreciate seriousness of this situation, and the author’s strong feelings on the matter, but the solution (example) suggested here is ABSOLUTE NONSENSE. What’s being called for in this article is another Elian Gonzalez moment, complete with full press coverage of a frightened child staring at a sub-machine gun, which led to the mentioned “jackbooted thug” analogy in the first place.

First of all, the use of SWAT teams to conduct SEARCH WARRANTS in this country has gone from a constitutionally questionable practice rarely used just 30 years ago, to standard operating procedure in hundreds of jurisdictions across this country today. Fueled by the never-ending “war on drugs” that has militarized our police forces and encouraged widespread abuse of civil asset forfeiture laws, the result has led to a number of deaths to police officers and suspects (innocent until proven guilty?), that in many cases could have been avoided.

I’ve read several articles – and especially comments – on this site discussing how to react to a home invasion. Well, the author of this post is advocating government-sanctioned home invasions. So what happens when suspect, wife, or child grabs a gun to defend themselves at 3:00 in the morning because a bunch of masked men with guns invade? Before you respond, what happens WHEN the people running the government don’t like your actions, as during the last administration maybe – what would YOU do?

Second, just because the crime – in this case a non-violent one – is so egregious that it offends one’s personal and national pride, it does not mean you should let your emotions dictate how to respond. Just because the results of the crime might lead to serious ramifications to others, or the country itself, it doesn’t mean a pre-emptive escalation is appropriate, or even necessary.

Sending a SWAT team into a hostile scenario, such as a hostage situation, armed robbery, etc., makes sense. That’s what they’re for and why they exist. But if you actually talk to these guys – and I do – they spend the overwhelming amount of their time on callouts serving drug-related search warrants and arrest warrants for non-violent offenses. And the fact that this has become “normal” in this country should cause at least some of the folks who frequent this site, and ones like it, to stop and think for a moment.

Our country is at war – and has been for almost a generation now, longer than at any time in our nation’s history. But just as the Soviet Union imploded, even if only indirectly, as a result of their decade-long incursion into Afghanistan, how much of our national soul (our individual rights and liberties) are we willing to sacrifice to fight this war? And our we not finding ourselves, in an ever growing polarity in political though and civility (Facebook, Twitter, or Ammoland comment section?), more and more at war with ourselves? I think the author’s reaction to these leaks, be they Clinton, Snowden, or Trump’s White House staff, is indicative of Madison’s concerns in his Political Observations, Apr. 20, 1795 [Letters and Other Writings of James Madison, vol. 4, p. 491 (1865)]:

“Of all the enemies to public liberty war is, perhaps, the most to be dreaded, because it comprises and develops the germ of every other. War is the parent of armies; from these proceed debts and taxes; and armies, and debts, and taxes are the known instruments for bringing the many under the domination of the few. In war, too, the discretionary power of the Executive is extended; its influence in dealing out offices, honors, and emoluments is multiplied; and all the means of seducing the minds, are added to those of subduing the force, of the people. The same malignant aspect in republicanism may be traced in the inequality of fortunes, and the opportunities of fraud, growing out of a state of war, and in the degeneracy of manners and of morals engendered by both. No nation could preserve its freedom in the midst of continual warfare.”

So how would I suggest the scenario presented by the author be addressed? Well, let’s start with getting and using actual INTELLIGENCE. If Mr. or Ms. Civil Servant are still employed by the government, then there’s a very large chance that they are DISARMED while at work. Why use a SWAT team when two US Marshals (FBI, etc.) in business attire can simply go to their office (cubicle, etc.) and “invite” them to slip into a pair of handcuffs and accompany them to a deep, dark hole somewhere. I mean truly, if the evidence is as strong as the author would suggest, why invite a potential standoff or firefight if you don’t need to? This could be done at any number of controlled locations between the suspect’s workplace and home, without ever introducing the disastrous fallout that comes with pointing automatic weapons at potentially innocent Americans.

No, you don’t get the “example” that’s called for in the article. But if you don’t think word of a person’s “disappearance” won’t spread like wildfire among the very people you truly want to influence – those who would leak sensitive or classified information to the press (or worse), then you’re simply not thinking this through. While I appreciate the author’s sentiment and frustration, I believe the proposed solution to this problem is not only wrong, it’s dangerous in the long run.

One last thing: As a retired military officer and the son, brother, and friend to many police officers (local, state, and federal, including SWAT guys), I find it disturbing that so many of our officers now find themselves in a state of perpetual war with the very citizens they’ve sworn to serve and protect. So many of them believe that their top priority is “to come home at the end of their shift.” While I would hope that no law enforcement official should ever have to give their life – and their family’s future – in the line of duty, I do suggest that if they are not prepared to do that very thing, as every member of the US Armed Forces should be, then they need to find other employment.

    7. This article is all wrong, we don’t need a “standing army” raiding homes at 3am. How about the US giving up its empire that is causing foreigners to hate us & the govt here to oppress us? Limited govt means one of limited powers. That means a disarmed govt that doesn’t have the power to oppress. Those of you who claim to stand for liberty but support the troops & thank cops for their service are confused. It’s either power or liberty, you can’t have both.

“If we admit this consolidated government, it will be because we like a great, splendid one. Some way or other we must be a great and mighty empire; we must have an army, and a navy, and a number of things. When the American spirit was in its youth, the language of America was different: liberty, sir, was then the primary object…But now, sir, the American spirit, assisted by the ropes and chains of consolidation, is about to convert this country into a powerful and mighty empire. If you make the citizens of this country agree to become the subjects of one great consolidated empire of America, your government will not have sufficient energy to keep them together. Such a government is incompatible with the genius of republicanism. There will be no checks, no real balances, in this government. What can avail your specious, imaginary balances, your rope-dancing, chain-rattling, ridiculous ideal checks and contrivances? But, sir, we are not feared by foreigners; we do not make nations tremble. Would this constitute happiness, or secure liberty?…It is on a supposition that your American governors shall be honest, that all the good qualities of this government are founded; but its defective and imperfect construction puts it in their power to perpetrate the worst of mischiefs, should they be bad men; and, sir, would not all the world, from the eastern to the western hemisphere, blame our distracted folly in resting our rights upon the contingency of our rulers being good or bad? Show me that age and country where the rights and liberties of the people were placed on the sole chance of their rulers being good men, without a consequent loss of liberty! I say that the loss of that dearest privilege has ever followed, with absolute certainty, every such mad attempt.”

–Patrick Henry, Shall Liberty or Empire Be Sought?”,

    8. Major: I’ve had slight quibbles with you in the past over minor issues. No issues at all on this one. As someone who is older than you I’ve seen a decline in the general comprehension of the meaning of “love of country” and “dedication” to doing what is right.

      Thanks for your service.

    9. In the past two Democrat administrations there were a number of Whitehouse staff who had trouble getting or never received their security clearances and yet were there anyway. “Security clearances? We don’t need no stinking security clearances!!!” And I feel the need to remind everyone that you were required to, “do what you were told”, as long as it was not illegal or immoral.

    10. I believe many, if not most, of those responding to this article did not take the time to read it completely and carefully. Some of the comments proposed by the author are either careless and recklessly put to paper or present, perhaps unwittingly, the darker side of the author’s personality. For example:

“try and find out if the spouse of Mr or Miss Traitor has been using that same computer. If they have, put them in cuffs and have them sitting on the front lawn with their beloved significant-other. Now if there are any children in the home this is where the marked “Child Protective Services” vehicle comes in. Haul off the innocent children in the middle of the night.”

This approach to “justice” is truly frightening, and appears to mimic an earlier, defunct regime that arrested not only the suspect but his entire family and carted them off in the middle of the night. Who did that? You guessed it: the Nazis! Championing this type of approach leads me to ask if perhaps the author has a pair of jackboots hidden away in his closet? And before you get the idea that I am a bleeding liberal who voted for Hitlery, understand that I am a retired US Army military policeman, Vietnam vet, and currently work for one of the three-letter intelligence agencies in the Washington Metropolitan area (and a staunch Trump supporter!). I have taken that same oath, and vigorously support the investigation and prosecution of those who so easily divulge national secrets for either fame or gain, but I do NOT support a “shoot them all down and let God sort them out” mindset.

The actions the author espouses are exactly those we must guard against before America becomes a police state where citizens have no rights and have come to expect zero dark thirty raids where both the innocent and guilty are dragged off. If you agree with the author’s approach then I suggest you sleep with one eye open for the rest of your life; you could be next. No s***!

      1. I lost internet connection for a time so this may show up twice:
Your view is refreshing, especially at this time when one sometimes wonders how L E will react under certain circumstances. I have L E in the family so have been privy to some cases being ethical and some not so.
        Thank You for your service.

    11. The Milwaukee County district attorney, JOHN CHISLOM and state government election board members did just that to innocent persons in Wisconsin. All on the pretense of election law violations. Secret Warrants’ and numerous Constitutional violations , he/ they have yet to be held accountable. As Hilary commented about Rush’s calls for justice.
“Be careful what you wish for”.

    12. I was sickened, as was anyone who has ever been briefed on security, that Hillary was given a pass by Comey, who didn’t have the power to do it in the 1st place. Intent is never mentioned in the law about secrecy, only actions are considered. I along with every other Vet, took an oath that the civilians obviously don’t follow. I don’t remember an expiration clause in that oath. My wife, of 30 years, had a clearance much higher than mine and NEVER discussed things I wasn’t allowed to know. Leaking to the press would have been inconceivable. It is time to clean house. There are way too many unadorned lamp posts.

    13. As I said I took an oath after my technical training there was another because I carried a top secret / crypto access clearance. The joke was if I tell you I have to shoot you, but it was not treated as a joke. If I had been accused of half of what hiliary clinton has been I would still be breaking rocks at levenworth. The change I would make in your suggestion would be to start at the top with holder and clinton. If I could see that I could go to my rest in peace.

      1. You do have to include Obama and Lynch in the list of those who should be arrested in a midnight or 3AM visit by the SWAT Team.
Obama because he violated the Constitution so many times and trampled on the Rights of the People and Lynch because she continued the criminal practices of Holder.
There are also members of Congress on both sides of the aisle who should be “perp-walked” from the homes or, better yet, offices, tried for sedition and, if convicted, sent to Leavenworth for a long, long time.

        1. @Martin, Sedition is criticism of the government, which is legal. But there are lots of other charges available. The Fat Boy Institute should get their ass in gear and get some indictments.

    14. Unfortunately according to talk radio today, his last few weeks of his tenure Obama promoted many of these subversives into positions which makes it harder to fire them. Yes I took an oath I went where I was assigned did my duty and have never been releaved of it.

      1. @old, Actually the higher up one goes in the federal bureaucracy, the easier it is to fire them. All Senior Executive Service grade personnel, and GS14 and 15s are only entitled to two weeks notice. Trump should give them all their two weeks notice because he can not afford an Obama deep state to exist. They will destroy his presidency.
Nor do the American people want bureaucrats of divided loyalty pursuing their own agendas. Everyone honored and privileged to work in the Federal government should be loyal to the Constitution and obey the lawful orders of the officers appointed over them. Finally, Yes, it is so, one is never released from the oath that they took.

        1. @Wild Bill do you suppose these moles are drawing wages from the Obama/soros deep state as well as the U.S. Gov? Seems that would be conflict of interest.

          1. @oldv, I do not know, but Trump should fire every political appointee, and their henchmen, that he can right down to the worker bee level. He can not afford to have Obama plants operating in the rear of his AO. Why has not the Fat Boy Institute sent over some spy catching experts to catch all these White House leakers?

    15. Dear Major Van Harl:

As a Federal employee I entirely applaud your suggestion. When I signed on to the Civil Service I expected to carry out every Administration’s orders to the best of my ability, and am honored to serve in the present one. It is clear however that some miscreants in the Civil Service “Deep State” believe they are morally compelled to subvert the will of the people, and they are giving the rest of us a really bad name. There is no more urgent task in the Federal government than to get them out of their offices and in to the courtroom for prosecution. The rest of us can then work to re-build trust.

I suspect Attorney General Sessions is up to the task.

    16. The ultimate example would have been to have a swat raid and arrest Hilliary Clinton. Could you imagine the fear struck into the hearts of liberal elites.

      1. @Badger, I thank God every morning that hiLIARy is not president. I to God every night for her indictment. The liberal elite are going to try to get rid of Trump any way that they can. Trump better get that USDOJ and FBI after them and strike before they do.

    17. Unfortunately, the best example that could have had happened was multiple swat team raid at 0’Dark thirty taking Hilliary Clinton to jail. If that would have happened the so called Elitiests would have been given a message as well.

      1. Actually, not too late. Have the SWAT team hit the Clinton’s domicile and the Holder’s domicile at the same time.
