Fairfax, VA – -(Ammoland.com)- A new Governor took the reins from Gov. Chris Christie this week, and a new Legislature has been sworn into office.

However, much will remain the same in the Garden State, including the annual onslaught of anti-guns bills being put into the hopper in Trenton.  The real danger this year is that anti-gun lawmakers have expanded their majorities in both chambers to the largest margins in decades, coupled with having potentially one of the most anti-gun Governors in the history of the state.

In the coming months, we anticipate large public hearings on a number of critical issues.

It's essential that gun owners remain vigilant and participate by attending hearings and communicating with their lawmakers at the appropriate times.

Despite having some of the most onerous gun laws in the country, New Jersey politicians are still aggressively pushing their political agenda.  At the end of this week, 72 bills dealing with “weapons” have been introduced.  By way of disclaimer, some of those bills included pro-gun bills and issues like stun guns, but only a tiny minority.  The vast majority of these bills were bad measures intended to punish law-abiding gun owners.  It's important to remember that not all of these bills will move.  Some of them have a single sponsor and will sit in the hopper like they did for the last two years.  However, based on the election rhetoric of new Gov. Phil Murphy and anti-gun Senate Majority Leader Loretta Weinberg, they plan to aggressively push a number of these issues.

Rest assured, NRA will be there every step of the way fighting against these relentless attacks on New Jersey gun owners.  Some of these restrictions are so over-the-top that, even if signed, their constitutionality and ability to withstand judicial scrutiny is questionable at best.

What we do know, is that overwhelming participation by NRA members does make a difference.  Look no further than last January's gun range bill.  After thousands of messages from gun owners, lawmakers opted to shelve the issue for the year.

It is going to take that sort of Herculean effort to withstand this barrage.  New Jersey gun owners are used to fighting, and this year is going to require a renewed sense of urgency.

Your NRA-ILA will continue to keep you updated as this legislation is scheduled at the Statehouse, and also provide you with ways that you can take action and make your voice heard.

I won’t step my foot in Yankee land with their Marxist system. We live in 2 separate countries. Ours with liberty. Theirs with tyranny.

First off, the NRA isn’t going to do sh*t in NJ, they will abandon it as they have CA, as both of these states are now hopelessly lost to the liberal swine that run them (I am a former NJ resident). Nothing being pushed by these fools does anything to actually affect real crime, all it intends to do is make criminals out of law abiding citizens of NJ. Liberals are SCUM, and need to be eradicated.

Stop accepting the tyranny, dont consent.Educate yourselves..your inalienable right( human right) to protect yourself and your family and property añd your right to own property cannot be violated by law…you have been lied to about everything. Throw away the newspaper and shoot your tv. They are the tools of deception. Learn the truth.

Gun parts confiscation begins in Massachusetts By Jayson Veley. January 22nd, 2018 Massachusetts, like most other liberal states across the country, is not exactly a state that believes in or respects the Second Amendment rights of the people who live there. Rather, Massachusetts and the leftists who run it believe as the vast majority of liberal democrats in this country do: That the implementation of more gun laws and regulations is the best and most effective way to decrease gun-related crime. Massachusetts’ most recent attack on the Second Amendment comes in the form of a letter that will soon be… Read more »

“To start, the words mean the same thing. “Inalienable” has gained a stronger foothold in modern times, but both appear without distinction on the Merriam-Webster Dictionary website, which defines them as signifying that which is “incapable of being alienated, surrendered, or transferred.”

“Your NRA will be there every step of the way..” asking for more money than ever before. It’s difficult to find anything new to say about New Jersey that hasn’t been said before. If you want to stay that’s your choice and you know what you’re in for, basically a malevolent dictatorship when it comes to Second Amendment Rights. Accept it or move.

Are YOU a member of the NRA? I’m a life member, do not live in NJ, and as you pointed out,
the deck is stacked against law abiding citizens in NJ thanks to their legislature and new Governor.

You have to pick your battles, until the legislature in NJ changes, it will be difficult to get things changed.
The NRA has made great progress in many areas across the USA, as well as GOA and local grass roots groups.
I have family in NJ and visit often as an unarmed citizen to ‘obey’ their foolish laws.

, Yes, Vann is an NRA member. He is a contemporary of Neal Knox. As for me, I wish the NRA would have picked battling the NFA of 1934 and the GCA of 1968. Then we would not be in this mess.

James: Saw this after Wild Bill replied in my behalf. Yes, I am a member. Also knew and worked with not only Neal Knox but Jeff and Chris as well. If you’re waiting for the NJ Legislature to change from Liberal to Conservative you might as well expect the second coming at the same time. These people are like a cancer that spreads by promising people something for nothing. But those promises come with a steep price tag, your freedoms. The majority of NJ residents have been like lemmings coming back to that same trough every year. For those who… Read more »
