Biden as Wrong on Second Amendment as He Is on Self-Defense

It helps when you have a friendly audience that doesn’t know they’re being fed lies from someone who is either ignorant or intentionally deceptive — or both.

USA – -(Ammoland.com)- “I think the Second Amendment is being badly interpreted, it’s not consistent with what our founders intended,” former Vice President Joe Biden claimed in a wide-ranging policy discussion with University of Pennsylvania President Amy Gutmann Thursday. “What’s happened here is the nation as a whole has decided it can no longer, in my view, continue to turn a blind eye to the prostitution of the Second Amendment here and can no longer turn a blind eye to the enormous damage being done not just in our schools but on our streets.”

The university is hardly a neutral party.

“Involved for years in fighting for rational gun policy, Biden explained that what is being seen is ‘totally spontaneous’ on the part of the students,” the university’s Penn Today editorialized. Note the not so subtle opinion as to what constitutes “rational gun policy” in a story presented as an objective news report.

“There was no adult inspiration for this,” Biden asserted.

Right. The AstroTurf lawn ornaments are the ones calling the shots.

As for what the Founders intended, their sentiments just aren’t that hard to find. What is hard to find are any quotes that refute the individual rights “interpretation.” Some of us have been waiting decades for a responsive answer to requests for evidence proving otherwise. We haven’t received one because there isn’t one.

Ditto for the often-repeated lie that courts haven’t considered the Second Amendment to apply to an individual right until recent NRA revisionism.  Bunk.

From William Rawle, whose “View of the Constitution was standard law text at leading universities well into the Nineteenth Century:

“No clause in the Constitution could by any rule of construction be conceived to give the Congress a power to disarm the people. Such a flagitious attempt could only be made under a general pretence by a state legislature. But if in any pursuit of an inordinate power either should attempt it, this amendment may be appealed to as a restraint on both.”

Those parroting the lie along with Biden never seem to mention a common understanding at the time the Supreme Court shared in its notorious Dred Scott decision.  One of the reasons they cited why the plaintiff would not be viewed as a citizen with full rights was:

“It would give to persons of the negro race, who were recognised as citizens in any one State of the Union, the right to … keep and carry arms wherever they went.”

Those so recognized did not need to be called up for “common defense” militia duty to exercise their right.

Speaking of which, here’s what the Supreme Court had to say in Miller:

“[T]he Militia comprised all males physically capable of acting in concert for the common defense … [who] were expected to appear bearing arms supplied by themselves and of the kind in common use at the time [and] “the Second Amendment guarantees the right to keep and bear … ordinary military equipment … that … could contribute to the common defense.”

Those citizens couldn’t very well fulfill that duty if they didn’t already possess such arms and have the ability to travel freely with them.

The question now is, are we to believe Joe Biden isn’t aware of these, in which case he’s incompetent and unqualified to comment, or should we assume that he’s fully aware and says what he says anyway, in which case he’s a liar?

That’s a tough one to call (and they’re not mutually exclusive), although looking at two previous times he’s presumed authority on self-defense tactics suggests he really is that ignorant. Perhaps cluelessness is something those behind putting Biden in positions of power can count on for reasons of their own.

“I said, Jill, if there’s ever a problem just walk out on the balcony here … put that double-barreled shotgun and fire two blasts outside the house,” he claims he instructed his wife.

“Well, you know, my shotgun will do better for you than your AR-15, because you want to keep someone away from your house, just fire the shotgun through the door,” he says he advised a California town hall meeting attendee concerned about the aftermath of a major earthquake.

Biden has evidently never heard of Jeff Cooper’s rules.

Nor has he shared where he acquired such expertise in defensive gun use. Can he name one qualified instructor of note who advises firing in the air or through a door at targets unknown? Is that what police are taught, and are they likely to be sympathetic to anyone who follows Biden’s advice?

It’s curious that Biden chooses to use the word “prostitution” as a way to attack the character of those who know better than him on both founding intent and on proper and lawful gun use. Considering how well-rewarded he’s been for faithlessness to his oath, it’s fair to wonder how much of that may be projection.

Biden is a MORON….but not a member of local 6 and 7 eights because the Three Stooges have more sense (census)….where were you born? Lake Winnipesaukee.

hoss

For myself, and others I’ve spoken with, I truly believe that those politicians who do not adhere to the constitution should be imprisoned after being found guilty in a trial!

Clark Kent

And how about the voters who elected same? Politicians just don’t fall out of the sky into office……

tomcat

Obama put this moron in as his second in charge knowing no one would want to assassinate him because the buffoon would then be president. He is another case of never having a job other than the government so he just plain doesn’t know any better, and most probably couldn’t comprehend anyway. Look at all the money the tax payers have wasted over the years on paying this clown. He later said he shouldn’t have threatened Trump to go behind the jym.

I accurized Joe’s statement. “I think the Constitution is being badly interpreted, it’s not consistent with what our founders intended,” “What’s happened here is the nation as a whole has decided it can no longer, in my view, continue to turn a blind eye to the prostitution of the Politicians and Media here and can no longer turn a blind eye to the enormous damage being done not just in our schools and courts but on our streets.” Origional: “I think the Second Amendment is being badly interpreted, it’s not consistent with what our founders intended,” former Vice President Joe… Read more »

A guy followed Biden’s advice in Detroit and is now in prison for murder. He fired through the door at a drunk car crash victim who was knocking at his door.

if she had forced her way through the door or broken through a window then shooting her would have been justified. dude had a cellphone that was working but didn’t use it prior to shooting her.

recon29

Good one Joe. Just fire through the door at the Red Cross people knocking. That’s why our pro-gun orgs teach safety first. So you survived the disaster ( earthquake, hurricane, tornado, etc ) and now have to explain to your spouse and kids that you just murdered an aid worker. We need to call out these misinformed ( I’m being kind here ) on the spot. Not later on.

Alkemyst

And is this in-DUH-vidual’s (I refuse to call him a man) stupidity any surprise to anyone? the accuse Trump of being unqualified and off THIS as a counterpoint?! REALLY??!! Listen hear, Joe, the only “prostituting” the 2nd Amendment is YOU and your ilk who think only the rich and powerful deserve rights. Wrong answer, pal. Those rights aren’t your’s and your globalist elitist associates (I sincerely doubt they’re friends). Those rights are for EVERYONE. But since you’ve decided you already know what’s best for the rest of us, I guess that doesn’t really matter. Ballot box or bullet box….choose wisely.… Read more »

Hell Joe isn’t even a good joke

Consider this, Mr. Codrea; If one could get into the mindset of those who lived in those fearful years, you would find that the greatest fear of the people and Founders alike was of a standing army, a “Well Regulated Militia”!! This was different from the Militia of the “whole of the people” as Mr. Mason described, an unregulated citizenry that could could be called upon to assist the the standing army, the well regulated militia, if need be. Without a standing army, a well regulated militia, the nation would have been attacked from nations everywhere, as is the nature… Read more »

Joe Biden is a consummate idiot, the fact that Obama picked him as vice pres is proof enough. He is the poster child for everything that is wrong with America. You can put his picture right up along side Chuck Schumer, Maxine Watters, Elizabeth Warren, Diane Feinstein and a host of other not so useful idiots and he would fit right in. I have nothing but contempt for these people as they would destroy my America and what it stands for.

JoeUSooner

@eaglenester… I agree with your premise!

On the other hand, Joe Biden takes umbrage at your statement, and he would argue that he is NOT a complete idiot.

Of course, he forgets that being an incomplete idiot is not really a hell of a lot to brag about, either!

Henry

“Joe Biden is a consummate idiot, the fact that Obama picked him as vice pres is proof enough.”

Obama should have paid royalties to the Nixon estate for stealing Dick’s idea of choosing a VP primarily for his value as “assassination isurance.”.

Jim Macklin

Blindly firing a few shotgun rounds off the back porch will get you arrested for several possible crimes, particularly illegal discharge within city limits. Warning shots are never a good idea since the bullets/pellets can injure people or damage property. Under some conditions you are legally justified in actually shooting criminals but there is no law that allows shooting a gun because you heard a noise. When the Congress drafted the Second Amendment adding the words FOR THE COMMON DEFENCE was rejected by the Senate in 1788. In the Cruikshank case SCOTUS said that the amendment did not create a… Read more »

hey Joe!! the Meaning of the word “regulate” to adjust to a particular standard, rate, degree, amount, you interpret it to mean government has control,..its the bill of Rights!!, the 2nd mentions shall not and people, the first, second, fourth and tenth amendment mentions people

cutterjack

Mr Biden, why do you presume to interfere with my right and duty of self defense, Clearly you have no training or expertise in the subject, despite your fatuous advise to your wife in these matters. You are more danger to the innocent than help. A wise person doesn’t jiggle the elbow of someone doing important work, I am trained, stay out of the way fool.

Green Mtn. Boy

Bidden is a Buffon !

Wild Bill

@GMB, Sure is, and I really hope that the socialist democrat party runs him for president… or pelosi… or maxine!

Clark Kent

‘Buffon’? Is that some sort of buffering agent?

Cam

Listening to anything crazy uncle joe has to say is like taking diet advice from a bulimic or dating advice from John Wayne Gacey

Henry

Biden? More like diet advice from Jeffrey Dahmer.
