Austin, Texas-(Ammoland.com)- Cody Wilson is a hero to some and a James Bond level villain to others, but what he is to everyone is a very complicated person. For full disclosure, I have spoken at length with Wilson in the past on and off the record. I have interviewed Wilson for AmmoLand and met up with him in Las Vegas.

Authorities charged Wilson with sexual assault of a minor in connection with a meeting set up through a website called sugardaddymeet.com. The female in question is sixteen. The age of consent in Texas is seventeen. The age of consent is sixteen in most states and all of Canada. Before we get into that, we need to talk about Wilson.

First some background. Cody Wilson is a crypto-anarchist. This worldview is different from the anarcho-communist of Antifa. In its purest form, a crypto-anarchist is a person with extreme libertarian views that lives in the digital world. They believe in using technology to lessen the grip of government in our lives.

Other crypto-anarchist includes Ross William Ulbricht who was better known as The Dread Pirate Roberts on the Dark Web. DPR started a website for drugs called The Silk Road and a site for illegal gun sales called The Armory. Everything from Glocks and fully functional RPGs was for sale on his site before it was shut down.

A crypto-anarchist doesn’t believe that the government has the right to regulate what you can and can’t do with your body including what you put in your body. They don’t think that the government has the right to tell you what can and can’t own. This belief is especially apparent when it comes to firearms.

They see guns as a way for the people to keep the government in check and to prevent it from becoming tyrannical. The crypto-anarchist philosophy is that all governments will become tyrannical and firearms are needed to throw off the chains of an oppressive government.

Knowing this philosophy, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that someone who is as intelligent as Wilson would find a way to make all gun control laws irrelevant.

This goal set Wilson off on a journey to create a 3D printed gun. He accomplished that mission by creating a single shot .380 gun called the Liberator. It was named after the cheap single shot pistol that the Allies dropped into France to help the French resistance fight back against the Nazis. Wilson was eventually slowed in his quest by the State Department using ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations), but that didn’t stop Wilson.

Wilson was determined to fight back against an unjust ruling. His first set of lawyers told him it wasn’t worth it, so he fired them. Eventually, the State Department would give up after getting advice on the matter from the Department of Justice.

An anti-gun judge in Seattle would block Wilson and his non-profit Defense Distributed from releasing the files to the public, but Wilson found a way around the court’s ruling. The ruling prevented him from giving away the data, but it didn’t forbid him from selling it. So, for as cheap as a penny, you could buy the files from defcad.com.

That brings us to today.

Authorities have charged Cody Wilson for paying for sex with a sixteen-year-old Texas female.

This is not an excuse but a fact that the age of consent in Texas is seventeen. The two allegedly met on the site sugardaddymeet.com. The site’s stated mission “is to help older well-off men meet younger women for a mutually beneficial relationship.”

sugardaddymeet com age agreement
sugardaddymeet com age agreement

A sugar daddy is a term from the popular lexicon that means an older man who showers a younger woman with gifts and money. The younger woman usually ends up being a “girlfriend” of the older man for these gifts.

The site, sugardaddymeet.com, claims to be just a dating site just as the old backpage.com claimed to be just a classified site. Authorities allege that sugardaddymeet.com helps facilitate prostitution and human trafficking.

According to the arrest affidavit filed in Travis County Texas, Wilson was on the site under the moniker “Sanjuro” and met the sixteen-year-old female. They both agreed to meet up on August 15th, 2018 at a café in Austin. Wilson allegedly paid the female $500 to have sex with him at a nearby hotel.

According to the website, you must be eighteen so sign up. It is impossible to register an account on the site if you admit that you are younger than eighteen. The website is not for minors. The site would have returned an error if the female used her real age. The girl in question must have lied to register to be on the site.

A person only identified as a counselor contacted authorities when the female admitted to meeting up and having sex with a man claiming to be a “big deal.”

Police investigated and were able to pull a license plate number from the Ford Edge Wilson was driving from security camera footage from the café. Defense Distributed owned the vehicle according to the Texas DMV.

According to the police interview with the female, the two engaged in oral sex and intercourse. Hotel security cameras showed Wilson and the female returning to the elevator in the hotel from a room that Wilson had rented at 9:17 PM.

Cody Wilson Arrest Warrant Affidavit

In the days since the meeting, the two exchanged explicit pictures via text messages on at least one occasion. Police are using this photographic image against Wilson. According to the affidavit, police identified Wilson by the appearance a unique mark on his leg.

A friend of the unnamed female notified Wilson of the investigation and impending arrest. Shortly after being informed of the inquiry Wilson boarded a plane and flew to Taiwan. It is unclear why Wilson went to Taiwan. He often travels for business, so this could be a simple business trip. It is worth noting that Taiwan does not have an extradition treaty with the United States.

Wilson did buy a round trip ticket from Texas to Taipei which is the capital of Taiwan, but he was not on board the return flight in the US. AmmoLand News reached out to Wilson to question him on when he would return to Texas to face the charges, but our question went unanswered.

The affidavit does not make it clear on how authorities concluded that Wilson knew the female was lying about her age outside of conjecture. The officer filing the affidavit just gave his opinion that Wilson should have known she lied.

Prosecutors are charging Wilson with a second-degree felony. Wilson is ordered to be held on a $150,000 bond and will be required to surrender his passport and wear a GPS monitor while awaiting trial. He is ordered to have no contact with the female in the case.

AmmoLand News reached out to Defense Distributed and Wilson for comments, but they did not return our request.

Our country is so f’d up. Sex with a consenting 16 year old is illegal in Texas apparently, but if she was 17 it be completely ok?!… arbitrary non-sense infuriates me. Our state laws are such garbage on this subject. When I was 16 I had sex with plenty of women older than 18, and no one would have claimed I was raped nor would it be justice if they had been arrested for it. Of course age of consent in my state is 16, and I think as for an arbitrary age, that is about as good you can… Read more »

CW arrested yesterday # dinner in a Taipei restaurant. Used his AMEX Card to pay, which led the U.S. Marshal/Lone Star Fugitive Task Force, to his location. The One China policy, reflects no extradition from Taiwan, so CW could be eating a lot of rice and sweet & sour pork.

What does one thing have to do with the other. This guy slept with a 15 year old and many here want to pretend either that he did not do it or that he was set up by some deep state conspiracy. Is it not possible that this guy is just a pervert who likes to sleep with children and then fled the Country?

Country Boy

You do not know if she’s telling the truth or not. Let’s see..the dems want me to believe that a californian, liberal democrat college professor, who is/has been for a while now , seeing a pychiatrist, suddenly remembers that 36 yrs ago when she was 15 and at a house party with 18+ yr olds and she says she was sexually assualted, yet she told no one, not even her parents, and said sexual assualt was NOT even reported to the Police. And now , she can’t name the street or house address nor show us where it is/was …and… Read more »

Is it possible that he’s guilty? Of course. It is who has been charged, and the timing of those charges, which raises suspicions. History is filled with examples of this tactic. What does one have to do with the other? To instill fear in the minds of those who hold similar views. Just read No Bull’s comment below, and you will understand. When it comes to politics and power, the only thing that doesn’t really matter, is the target’s guilt or innocence.

But Seriously Folks

Now she’s 15? Article says 16. What? Reading comprehension troubles? Or will the story keep changing until she’s 12? 10? The MSM already insinuates, “child” not teenager – taking it from dumba#s to pedo. He was wrong not to check. But the outcome would be the same if she’d have produced a fake I.D.

Daves

I stand corrected. She was apparently 16. Regardless, what is a grown ass man doing with a 16 year old child? If she mislead/lied there may be a defense. If he knew, he deserves what’s coming to him. This is not Right or Left. It’s Right or Wrong.

How a modern assassination is conducted. Cody thought they would “Come and take it”, but today they just have to say he “Took it and came”. In the words of Clearance Thomas, “I’d prefer an assassin’s bullet.”

Mike Ross

The retribution against Cody Wilson begins. He gave them an opening by using an ‘escort service,’ and that’s all the government needed.

Jimmy James

Interesting article, John! Looks like technology turned around and bit CW on the ass. Too bad this is happening and my guess is he holes up in Taiwan for a long time to come.

No Bull

In retrospect I guess supporting DD and Wilson by purchasing a file wasn’t such a great idea. I doubt I’ll ever see my $19 flash drive AND my name will be on whatever records get confiscated. That wasn’t too concerning when this was a 1A & 2A advocacy issue. Wish I’d known that Wilson was a dumbass.

Texas Charlie

Your purchase has nothing to do with the allegations against him. Even if the authorities get a warrant to look at his company’s files based upon the fact that he used a company car during the alleged crime (which is in itself a stretch and would just prove law enforcement bias), prosecuting you would be beyond the scope of the warrant because it has nothing to do with the alleged crime. Your purchase, at the time, was not illegal. I am no lawyer, but I am pretty sure of that. However, that doesn’t mean that you won’t make “the list”,… Read more »

I suspect many Governments will find themselves at the end of something terrible. Flash bang!

Country Boy

Sounds and smells like a set up by the gov. to me…….I also believe the website is at least partlyto blame as they did nothing to verify the emale was of age to join their site.

Joseph P Martin

Janet Reno used the same excuse to destroy the Branch Davidians in Waco. Must have set a precedent for destroying anyone the government doesn’t like.

Ron

Yep.Set up just like Judge Kavanaugh is being set up. (sorta) They want ya,they will do ‘anything’ to get ya!

Scott

That goes for corporations as well. They can talk all they want about EEOC and being on “probation” for six months or a year, but they can get rid of you anytime they want to.. The purpose of the HR department is NOT to help the employee, but to protect the “corporation/company/State agency” from frivolous (sp?) lawsuits, usually by women. Sorry, ladies, but that is what I have seen in my 40 years in both the private and public sector.

hippybiker

Costa Rica is also a small country with no extradition agreement with uncle sugar. Pun intended. Just ask Frank Velesco.

Chris Mallory

Texas law does not allow a “But she said she was 18 defense”. It holds the adult to strict liability. A Texas cop can shoot a man in his apartment in the middle of the night and walk out of jail after two hours, but a man can be lied to by an underage female and if arrested he will never again see the light of day. Wilson’s best bet is a good lawyer who petitions to make a presentation to the Grand Jury and convinces them to “No Bill”. Otherwise he takes his chances with a jury or takes… Read more »

Again I find the timing of the case to be suspicious.

Bimini is also a beautiful Caribbean island nation that does not have an extradition treaty with the U.S. It is closer and can be accessed by boat more quietly than by plane to Taiwan. Just a factoid in case anyone should ever need a vacation.

Vanns40

Keep on thinking that way and you’ll be headed back here on the first flight! Bimini is part of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas and signed, along with the rest of the Commonwealth, an extradition treaty with the United States back in the early 1990’s.

Vanns40

As an addition, for those interested, here are the countries with no extradition as of 2016: These countries currently have no extradition treaty with the United States: Afghanistan, Algeria, Andorra, Angola, Armenia, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brunei, Burkina Faso, Burma, Burundi, Cambodia, Cameroon, Cape Verde, the Central African Republic, Chad, Mainland China, Comoros, Congo (Kinshasa), Congo (Brazzaville), Djibouti, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Gabon, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Indonesia, Ivory Coast, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Kuwait, Laos, Lebanon, Libya, Macedonia, Madagascar, Maldives, Mali, Marshall Islands, Mauritania, Micronesia, Moldova, Mongolia, Montenegro, Morocco, Mozambique, Namibia, Nepal, Niger, Oman, Qatar, Russia, Rwanda, Samoa, Sao Tome &… Read more »

@Vanns Yep, you’re right. Gotta go call my travel agent. Talk to ya later!

Bet choice would be the Vatican… they have a strong track record of protecting and eevn abetting sexual deviants. He’d be right at home there. WOnder what the statute of limitations is for this rap, in case his lawyer can’t get a no bill out of the Grand Jury. It DOES seem not right that this little hottie could join that site, which SHOULD preclude her being underage, and yet HE is held to account for knowing her real age. This whole thing smacks of a set up to me. It’s just “too convenient” that LE had their cameras in… Read more »

almost all s-holes, i’d say

BILL

Sort of the same thing as Julian A? Man, they like using those sex charges dont they? They really know how to make up a real good lie about that stuff because in reality they’ve all done it themselves, so they know how to make it real believable, they just use details from their own experiences. That’s called projection folks.
Now, the gubment can use all of it resources to hunt him down ( henchmen). This isn’t about no underage sex, it’s about his defiance and CAD files and his unwillingness to submit.

John Dunlap

Rule number 1.: the Deep State and its hangers on do not play nice, or by any rules but their own. Their positions of influence allow them to both avoid accountability to the laws the hoi polloi must obey (look up Jon Corzine for a good example of how that works), and twist those same laws into bludgeons to punish dissent. Recall the charges against Julian Assange. Cody Wilson may be an arrogant fool, but I still smell the odor of a set up.

Lance A DeVooght

He was set up.
And we all know why.
