Laws She Demands Should Apply to ‘Gun Sense Candidate’ Porter

She may not actually be able to do much about “gun violence,” but Katie Porter is reportedly in a unique position to make a major dent in the proliferation of potato violence. (Katie Porter/Facebook)

“Former NCAA swimming champion Riley Gaines fired back at California Democrat Rep. Katie Porter for the congresswoman’s attack on her credibility and her claim that Gaines was just engaging in self-promotion for her work to save women’s sports from transgender athletes,” Breitbart reported Sunday. Porter’s name struck a bell—why is she suddenly an increased presence in the news (a Google search shows a flood of coverage in the past few days alone), and what does that have to do with guns and the right to keep and bear them?

The media bringing widespread public attention to a politician whose name recognition has primarily been limited to their home state suggests a wider movement to make that prominence last. And that question is answered by a February report in The Sacramento Bee noting Porter is essentially in a dead heat with Rep. Adam Schiff to replace Sen. Dianne Feinstein if and when she finally throws in the towel.

For gun owners, there is no “better” choice. Feinstein has been their enemy for decades, and Schiff, thrust into the limelight by his January 6 Select Committee position, has made no secret of his penchant for gun prohibition. But what about Porter, who many outside her district and the wider Golden State may not be familiar with?

The obvious answer is one does not get to be a Democrat congressperson from California without being in lockstep with the gun-grabbers, and Porter is no exception.

“Now is the time to fight for common-sense gun laws,” she declared in 2018. “Our campaign is proud to have earned the Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America gun sense candidate distinction and proud to stand with students leading the way in this fight!”

That’s evidently not the only fight she’s gotten into.

“The ex-husband of California Democrat Senate candidate Rep. Katie Porter said he does ‘not recant’ his domestic abuse allegations against the congresswoman after her campaign said that he did,” Fox News reported on April 13. “The allegations against Porter include claims that she dumped hot potatoes on her then-husband’s head and smashed a glass that led to him being cut by flying shards. Porter has separately faced accusations of running a toxic, emotionally abusive workplace by former staffers.”

“According to divorce documents received by Fox News Digital, Porter and her ex-husband, Matt Hoffman, both filed domestic violence restraining orders against each other after an April 2013 altercation at the home they shared while legally separated,” the report elaborated.

Does Porter own guns? Who knows? Plenty of “anti-gun” Democrats do.

If she does, this would have made them subject to confiscation under those “red flag” laws she endorses. And more than just a temporary removal, Gun Owners of America’s look at the Lautenberg Act horror stories explained how such acts of “domestic violence” as tearing a pocket, flinging keys, or spanking a child could result in a lifetime gun ban.

You’d think dumping hot potatoes would qualify. That’s the person demanding everyone else be disarmed?

But did she really do it? Isn’t an accusation under “red flags” enough?

Besides, Porter is on record advocating “We must #BelieveWomen,” and since her argument with Riley Gaines centers on biological men being able to transition into women, does it not follow that we must #BelieveMen? Or just the ones who identify as something else?

And yes, for any gun owners still holding out on the ridiculous “single issue” excuse, Porter isn’t calling for a “pathway to citizenship” because she thinks foreign-born recipients of Democrat-backed wealth transfers are going to be voting for “pro-gun Republicans.” She and Chuck Schumer know what the major “gun rights groups” dare not admit.

While gun owners may not be able to stop the ultimate replacement of Feinstein with Schiff, Porter, or someone equally as noxious, there is one thing they can still do. Revolver News notes Feinstein has asked Schumer to provide a temporary fill-in for her until her return so that Joe Biden’s nominations can be considered by the Senate Judiciary Committee. The way the numbers work, that apparently can’t be done without nine Republicans giving the Democrats what they want.

The 270toWin website features a way to sort and contact GOP Senators by social media and/or email. At the very minimum, contact your own with the message “Hold Biden’s nominations. Do not vote in favor of a temporary committee replacement for Dianne Feinstein.”

UPDATE

Shortly after this draft was submitted, Fox News reported “Republicans block Schumer’s request to replace Feinstein on Judiciary Committee.” But hold on to that Senate contact site for future use.

We need to stop calling these candidates Progressives/Liberals and call the what they are, gun grabbing Communists.

leftists/progressives are the most hypocritical people in the world. they skip from one agenda item; #metoo, blm, to the current one which is the radical trans agenda. but, their cornerstone is the anti-gun agenda, which they will never let go because if they can get rid of the Second Amendment and private ownership of firearms they can control the populace. firearms are inanimate objects that requires human interaction whether to function for good or evil. progs want school shooting, riots, push for race wars to pit one group against another so people are watching this instead of their attempt to… Read more »

Katie Porter’s record of domestic violence should be disqualifying for public office and firearms ownership. She is kookoo for cocoa puffs.

A dysfunctional Porter might be less of a threat than the well established Schiff. With CA’s bizarre ranked choice voting maybe they run against each other and Schiff ends up completely out of Congress for at least 2 years.

I hate to say this because I despise the man intensely, for for the second time since he took office, I am tipping my hat to Senator Mitch McConnell. He deserves our thanks.

Had Linda Gramnesty, the tramp from Utah or anyone of the other usual RINO subjects had been in his position they would have capitulated to the dimocRAT’s demands.

I just wish he could bottle up every judicial nominee until after 2024. He did it once before…my first hat tip to McConnell.

Yes, Mitch has issues but thank God Merrick Garland is not a Supreme Court Justice.

California is one of those states in which all you need to reach elected office, get yourself onto the ballot in the primary. But this only works for Democrats. You’ll be in like Flynn and can expect lifetime election wins. With the Dems changing the US population through open migration (illegal immigration), in short time, most of the country will be like The Golden State. As for Katie Porter, expect her to parrot every gun control mantra in the script. They’re not allowed to stray off the party line

Sounds like this lady has serious mental health issues and needs professional help. Meanwhile, keep her fat away from sharp utensils, glass and assault potatoes.
In other words, she’s a typical far left goon.

In the real world there is no such thing as ” transgender” or ” gun violence ” these made up terms refer to mentally ill people and violent humans and deflect from reality . People parroting these words want to shift the focus from the real issues .
