Turnbull Manufactured Firearms to be Fired Off at Firestone 500k IndyCar Series Race at Texas Motor Speedway June 5, 2010
Bloomfield N.Y. – Turnbull Mfg. Co. will be providing commemorative pistols to be fired off at the Firestone 500k IndyCar Series race at Texas Motor Speedway Victory Lane Celebration on Saturday, June 5, 2010. These pistols will then be donated to be auctioned off to raise money for the Speedway Children’s Charity in 2011.
Turnbull has created this pair of Turnbull 45 Colt style single action revolvers with 5 ½” barrels, and (pre-ban elephant) ivory grips. These pistols are custom engraved with a modified Colt factory ‘A' pattern, with crossed checkered flags on the front of the frame, the State of Texas outline on the breech ball, and the Texas Star on loading gate.
“We are honored to be able to be the providers of the commemorative firearms to be fired off at the Firestone 500k IndyCar Series race,” said Keith VanOrman, President of Turnbull Manufacturing. “At Turnbull Manufacturing we take great pride in the work we do restoring antique firearms and welcome the opportunity to share this custom work with others.”
The pistols will be highly polished and appear as the original Colt pistols did in the late 1800s, utilizing specialized finishing processes that have been perfected by Turnbull. These pistols’ will feature a carbona blue finish while the frame, gate and hammer will be bone and charcoal color case hardened, along with a nitre blue finish on all the screws and pins.
The Turnbull manufactured guns will have custom serial numbers to signify them as unique for this IndyCar series event. Keith VanOrman, Turnbull Manufacturing Company president, will present the commemorative firearms in the winner’s circle along with company founder, Doug Turnbull.
