USA – -(Ammoland.com)- Now serving in my third term as a member of the NRA Board of Directors, I am still one of the relative “newcomers” on the Board, but I am thankful to have been nominated for reelection by the NRA Nominations Committee.

In addition, I have been endorsed by Soldier Of Fortune Magazine, the Committee for Strong Leadership, and others. I have a reputation for being a relentless defender of the Second Amendment and a strict constitutionalist.

With your help, we have just realized a great victory for freedom. With a pro-Second Amendment President in the White House and pro-gun majorities in both houses of Congress, we have an opportunity not only to secure our liberty for years to come, but to expand it.

However, we cannot rest on our laurels, and despite the pervasive feeling that we can now take a breather, we must not become complacent. Indeed, we need to redouble our efforts and strike while the iron is hot.

Not only do we still face fierce legislative battles in a closely divided Congress, we must also stave off attacks in courts across the land as Bloomberg and others clearly are committed to spending whatever it takes to fund huge numbers of lawsuits aimed at neutering the Second Amendment.

When I was a state legislator, I authored the nation’s first law prohibiting frivolous lawsuits against firearm manufacturers, versions of which were afterwards adopted by 33 states and by Congress, with the federal version of the law, the “Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act”, being signed by President George W. Bush in 2005. At that time, the cities of Chicago, New York City, Atlanta, and others were filing lawsuits against firearms manufacturers aimed at bankrupting the companies. Awarded in recognition of the critical importance and national impact of this bill and in consideration of my extensive pro-Second Amendment legislative activity during 16 years as a member of the Georgia House of Representatives, I was honored to receive a special legislative leadership award from NRA’s Institute of Legislative Action.

Serving currently on the Legislative Policy, Legal Affairs (Vice Chair), and Finance committees of the NRA Board – committees having responsibilities related to the NRA’s litigation, budget, and legislative action efforts – I also serve on the Board of Trustees of the NRA Civil Rights Defense Fund which assists pro-Second Amendment litigants in state and federal courts across the nation. During recent years we have realized critical victories in all these areas, with crucial wins in the U.S. Supreme Court and the Congress, and I will continue to be unrelenting in my efforts to keep those successes coming and to expand and reclaim our freedoms.

“Despite our recent electoral victories, with Bloomberg, Soros, Schumer, Pelosi, et al continuing the attack on our Second Amendment freedoms, we cannot let up . . . and I pledge to you that I will not do so! We must reclaim, secure, and expand America’s first freedom!”

Shooting and hunting were a big part of my life growing up in rural Georgia and as a 13 year old boy, I joined the NRA as a Junior Member, becoming a Life Member at age 17. Now a Benefactor Member, I am a lifelong hunter, shooter, collector, fisherman and outdoorsman. I am also a NRA Certified Instructor in the Rifle and Shotgun disciplines. A referral attorney for both the NRA and the Police Benevolent Association, I am also a member of the Individual Rights Section, the Legislative Advisory Committee, and the Board of Governors of the State Bar of Georgia.

I am a member of a number of NRA state affiliates and other groups, including the Georgia Sport Shooting Association, Indiana State Rifle and Pistol Association, Texas State Rifle Association, New York State Rifle and Pistol Association, California Rifle and Pistol Association, and Fifty Caliber Shooting Association, among others. I have served on the Board of Directors of the Georgia Wildlife Federation, as a member of the Georgia Legislative Sportsman’s Caucus, as an Auxiliary Deputy Sheriff, as President of the Monroe County Sportsman’s Federation, and as a Boy Scout leader helping to facilitate young shooter training.

When I was a college student, I began speaking before decision makers, including committees of the Georgia General Assembly, in support of our Second Amendment rights. In the years since, I have continued my efforts as an effective voice for our freedoms, participating in interviews with many major news outlets, including ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, CNN, NPR, Wall Street Journal, New York Times, and others.
