Rooster Road Trip 2018: Highlighting Public Habitat, Access and a Pheasantennial

Pierre, S.D. – -(AmmoLand.com)- Pheasant hunting, publicly-accessible habitat and a century of tradition. These are the driving themes behind Pheasants Forever’s Rooster Road Trip 2018, an annual digital showcase of America’s pheasant range. Taking to the field October 22nd – 26th, Pheasants Forever will cover “The Pheasant Capital” of South Dakota to highlight publicly-accessible lands and habitat projects, many of which Pheasants Forever has played a significant role in creating through land purchases, local projects or legislative action.

Rooster Road Trip 2018 will share real-time experiences online through daily blog posts, photographs, and video. Additionally, this year’s trip, presented by South Dakota Tourism, will focus on the importance of pheasant hunters joining the ranks of Pheasants Forever and their influence in creating and improving the nation’s most prolific, publicly-accessible destinations for hunting ring-necked pheasants. Public land habitat work ranks high among the motives for Pheasants Forever members and volunteers to be involved with the organization, and since forming in 1982, Pheasants Forever has helped permanently conserve more than 195,000 acres through land acquisition projects.

The opening week of pheasant season in South Dakota is always an event, but this year’s is a celebration of 100 years of the state’s richest outdoor tradition. In 1918, South Dakota established its first pheasant hunting season, which was then held in Spink County in 1919. A century later, Rooster Road Trip will set out to acknowledge this timeless tradition on public lands throughout the state.

Hello,
Enjoy you posts!!! Quick question, I will be hunting in mid November in the Pierre & Gettysburg area on public land. Traveling with three Bird dogs and was wondering if you could recommend any hotels?

Thanks
