Washington, D.C.-(Ammoland.com)- Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-La.) and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.) has introduced a resolution into the U.S. Senate that would designate Antifa a domestic terrorist group. Senate Resolution 279.

“Antifa are terrorists, violent masked bullies who ‘fight fascism’ with actual Fascism, protected by Liberal privilege,” Cassidy said in a statement. “Bullies get their way until someone says no. Elected officials must have courage, not cowardice, to prevent terror.”

The anarcho-communist group has been responsible for violent attacks across the country. The masked members of Black Bloc which is part of Antifa attacks members of the opposition and even the press.

Earlier this month, A 69-year-old Antifa member launched a firebombing attack against an Immigrations and Customs facility in Tacoma Washington. He fired on police with an AR-15. Police shot and killed the attacker while he was trying to blow up a propane tank.

The attacker left behind a manifesto which he proudly claimed, “I am Antifa.”

Antifa from around the country took to social media to praise the attacker. They even went as far as to call him a martyr. Many sites including the Antifa propaganda site “It’s Going Down” celebrated the member of the Puget Sound John Brown Gun Club death as a sacrifice in a battle against Fascism. Puget Sound John Brown Gun Club also praised the attacker.

“We find his actions inspiring. The vehicles outside the detention facility are used to forcibly remove people from their homes and deport them, often to situations where they will face severe danger or death. Those vehicles being destroyed is only a start of what is needed,” the Puget Sound John Brown Gun Club wrote in a post. “We wish the fires Will set had freed all the inmates and razed the entire Northwest Detention Center to the ground. And we miss our friend and wish from the bottom of our hearts that his action had not ended in his death.”

The manifesto referenced ICE holding facilities as “concentration camps” echoing the sentiment of Democratic-Socialist Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Critics have slammed Ocasio-Cortez for exaggerating the conditions of the detention centers and inspiring violence.

Police were able to put a quick stop to the attack, but ICE officials said without the quick response there could have been a larger loss of life.

“We are extremely grateful to the officers of the Tacoma Police Department who reacted quickly to the incident that occurred outside the Northwest Detention Center this morning,” an ICE official told The Washington Post. “This incident could have resulted in the loss of many more lives, were it not for the brave actions of all the officers involved.”

In Portland Oregon journalist Andy Ngo was attacked and beaten by Antifa members. Antifa members stole Ngo’s camera equipment and left him bloody and beaten. Portland police didn’t help stop the violent protest due to a stand-down order issued by the mayor.

Ngo suffered a brain hemorrhage from the violent beating. Antifa groups including Rose City Antifa, the group responsible for the attack, once again took to social media to accept credit and praise for the attack. Antifa accused the gay Vietnamese journalist of being anti-immigration and anti-LGBT. Ngo denies these claims and thinks Antifa targeted him for reporting on their violence.

Sen. Cruz referenced the attack on Ngo and the doxing of ICE agents in his calls for the bill to be passed. The attack also inspired Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick (R-Pa.) to send a letter to Attorney General William P. Barr, asking him to designate Antifa groups as a domestic terrorist.

Although there is broad support for the bill on the conservative side, the bill does not have support from left-wing groups and leaders. The national security project at the American Civil Liberties Union has heavily criticized the proposal as an encroachment on Constitutional rights.

“It is dangerous and overly broad to use labels that are disconnected [from] actual individual conduct,” said Hina Shamsi, director of the national security project. “And as we’ve seen how ‘terrorism’ has been used already in this country, any such scheme raises significant due process, equal protection and First Amendment constitutional concerns.”

By designating the group “domestic terrorist,” it would give law enforcement agencies more tools to deal with Antifa violence. It would allow law enforcement to investigate not only a suspect in a crime but the suspect’s link with a domestic terrorist organization.

In addition to the bill, there is a petition to have President Trump designate Antifa as a domestic terrorist group. The petition is located at https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/demand-president-trump-label-antifa-domestic-terrorist-organization.

I understand the reason for the mask is to hide their identity because most if not all are homosexual and do not wish to be “outed”. Can not verify this but sounds reasonable since the queer groups need to fit in normal society therefore they must stay anonymous.

Antifa wears masks because they’re coward or butt ugly. Know any other groups who do the same?

Deplorable Bill

Just because they have not been caught (yet) making/using explosives does not in any way shape or form make they any different from any other terrorist org. One of there guys tried to light up a federal building the other day. Sadly, he got what was coming to him. I hope the rest of them reconsider their cause/acts before something else happens. You walk like a terrorist, talk like a terrorist, act like a terrorist you are likely to be treated like a terrorist. Doesn’t matter if you work for the D.N.C. Sooner or later you are going to run… Read more »

DEATH TO ANTIFA!!!

Wallace C

Okay, sure. Why the hell not?

toomanyhobbies

Mixed feelings on this….

ANTIFA only acts where they are sure no one they attack can defend themselves… Where as in many states where they are not active that have CC and SD rights they would get shot for their potentially deadly attacks….

I would want to see the specific language to be sure it simply names any group that assembles a terrorist group…

No I don’t live in Billings

The DEMONRAT PARTY is the New “Domestic Terrorist Group”

When, and if, they designate the masked cowards as domestic terrorists they should include the mayor of Portland. He is just as bad or worse than the kiddies that are thumping people on the head. The west coast of this country is such a great place, as long as you are a full bore leftist progressive.

With abject apologies to Gomer Pyle, SURPRISE, SURPRISE, SURPRISE! “… the bill does not have support from left-wing leaders.” I am positively aghast, I tell you.

With abject apologies to Groucho Marx, “… there’ll be a letter in the Times about this!!”

I’m simply waiting (with baited breath, I assure you!) for Antifa to attempt expansion from the liberal coasts to the Midwest and Deep South… where rednecks and good-ol’-boys will instantly dissuade them from the mistakes of their misspent youth.

[All sarcasm intentional.]

MS-Steve

The GOP talks TOUGH, but when push comes to shove, a third will flop on their back, spread their legs and scream, “PLEASE don’t hurt me, take whatever you want!”
I believe it was John Cleese, who once shouted (at the GOP) from a castle wall: ” I FAAA-RRT in your general diii-rection! “

Wild Bill

@MS Steve, And that would probably be enough! The parties have corrupted our Republic. Time to ban parties. Let candidates sell themselves on the internet.

MBH

It is about time! Lets see what the dem controlled house will do with it.

Wallace C

Shout it down. ANTIFA is their go to muscle. When Korean/Vietnam war vets and average John and Jane Doe citizens want to get together and salute the flag, the dimwit Left gets to turn Antifa loose to visit hell on them.

I thought It was illegal to wear a mask, as such in public. Actor Clayton Moore (Lone Ranger) was forbidden to wear his mask at appearances and had to put on a pair of sun glasses instead. It does go to show the hypocrisy of our ‘elected’ one’s that turn their screwed on heads and allow Antifa’s blatant disregard of law continue. Terrorists they are indeed. (both)

martin

The “Antifa” are criminals acting as the militant arm of the former Democrat Party which has become the Communist Party – USA.
It is sad that we have to have a couple of Congressmen introduce a bill to designate a terrorist organization a terrorist organization because the Leftist mayors of various cities allow these animals to run around destroying property and attacking innocents.
Witold Pilecki is absolutely correct that these clowns are going to run into someone who won’t back down.

ras52

Witold,Alan and Ansel, great post from all.

WP

I don’t need a declaration from congress to officially label these masked, black-clad, violent scum, I know what they are. They are no different than any other enemies of America, and I will treat them as such if I encounter them. They will either scatter or die when the well placed shots of Patriots ring out.

Alan1018

It’s a shame this bill won’t go anywhere. The new brownshirts aka antifa are the left’s darlings and all the leftists in Dysfunctional City will protect them.

Ansel Hazen

Senators Cassidy and Cruz are to be commended for having the guts to call a spade a spade.

Truth

Now let’s see how many of the weak, passive cowardly GOP will support the bill. Neither party are no longer worth anything especially the GOP. For 2 frikkin years they could have done a great deal for we Americans but have failed us over and over and over. Yeah, they threw us a few bones so we wouldn’t notice all the other failures.

Rock

Can’t get much done when the Dems/libs are doing their nonstop barrage of accusations, finger pointing, lying, investigations, etc. Add to this the fact that some ASSHOLE Dem/lib judge reverses everything Trump or the GOP tries to implement. Yeah, the 2 years is on the Dems shoulders, NOT the GOP. The GOP members introduced this bill, the Dems will shoot it down instantly. The Antifa thugs will meet a group of American citizen Patriots and Antifa will be eliminated, just a matter of time. Dirty Harry comes to mind, he would put it this way…. Antifa is like dogshit, allot… Read more »

Yea dems done a good bit, but gop done mostly to their selfs. For 8 years pass repeal of Obama care. Gop gets everything an all of a sudden can’t get it done. Rhinos like the last house speaker an the forty that wouldn’t run for re-election just because they didn’t want to be part of Trump was the big problem.
