Beretta 84 Fans Rejoice, SDS Imports Tisas Fatih B380 is Here!

SDS Imports Tisas Fatih B380

U.S.A.-(Ammoland.com)- Beretta 84 fans know that not all .380s have to be pocket pistols.  The Cheetah and it's family of models provided smaller-handed shooters with a compact alternative to 9mm pistols and with a barrel length long enough to squeeze a little extra power out of Browning's baby .45acp round. While keyboard commandos will type until their fingers bleed that .380 is a wimpy round, modern ammunition and plenty of retired bad guys say otherwise. Some folks just prefer .380, and for those wanting 13+1 capacity, SDS Imports and Tisas have a solution.

Tisas is a manufacturer we've covered before (Regent BR9 article, Regent SP1 article, and Zigana F article).  They make high-quality guns that usually resemble or are heavily influenced by famous designs. The Fatih B380 is a licensed clone of the Beretta 84, it even accepts magazines from the FN “BP” model inspired by the Cheetah. We don't have a Beretta 84 on hand to compare the Fatih B380 against (which is how we ended up with the FN after searching for an 84), so we'll leave that up to those of you who know with the video below. Even if you don't know, take a look at the fit and finish quality of this latest gun made available thanks to SDS Imports. The semi-fixed barrel of the Fatih B380 is an interesting feature that permits fixed-barrel accuracy and blowback operation, yet is still easily removed and cleaned as it is removed with the slide.

Specifications below are as found on the product web page:

  • Trigger: SA / DA
  • Caliber: 380
  • Barrel Length: 3.98”
  • Overall Length: 6.93”
  • Height: 4.6”
  • Width: 1.4”
  • Weight: Unloaded 21 ounces.
  • Includes two 13 round magazines, cleaning brush, and owner’s manual.
  • UPC: 713135218621
  • MSRP $389.95

As with any semi-automatic firearm, some ammunition sensitivity can occur as each load generates a slightly different pressure wave. This is not a technical term, but it's the term I use to describe how much pressure it built, how quickly, and how long that pressure remains. Just because a load works in one firearm doesn't mean it will in another as barrel length, action type, and the condition of the gun all play a small role. We test for ammunition compatibility using our now famous, “What's For Dinner?” test. With handguns, that's ten different loads including hollow points, full-metal jackets, round-nose and truncated, steel, brass, and aluminum casings also add a variable. Take a look at the Shooting Impressions video below to find out what all the Tisas Fatih B380 will eat.

It's worth noting that in any firearm, especially in a blow-back operated pistol felt recoil is going to vary greatly depending on the load. the Tisas Fatih B380 from SDS Imports is no exception. We found some loads laughably soft-shooting and others flirting with unpleasant. What was impressive to see however was that in our testing, out of the box, the Tisas Fatih B380 had not one malfunction with any load. Although purely personal preference I will be looking for alternative sights, or at least black out the rear white dot which we found to be a little distracting at times.

@GB, Good report. I am spending all my stimulus money on the American gun industry because I want the various governments, in this country, to know, beyond a certainty, that the gun industry is the most important one in this country. The guns, however, must be all American made.
