BELLEVUE, WA –-(AmmoLand.com)- Attorneys for the Second Amendment Foundation have filed a Notice of Supplemental Authority in a case challenging the ban on handgun purchases by young adults, ages 18-20, based on language in the Supreme Court’s ruling in New York State Rifle & Pistol Association, Inc. v. Bruen.
The notice states, “As Plaintiffs have argued, text, history and tradition all point uniformly in this case toward 18-to-20-year-olds having equal rights to other adults with respect to firearms, including the right to purchase them, and the Government has not pointed to any sufficiently rooted analogous historical restrictions that would take this case outside the scope of the Second Amendment’s protections.”
“The high court ruling in Bruen clearly opens lots of doors in our pursuit of gun rights,” said SAF founder and Executive Vice President Alan M. Gottlieb, “and this case is one of them.”
The case is known as Reese, et.al. v. BATFE.
As explained in the Notice, “The standard Bruen establishes for Second Amendment challenges is precisely the standard for which Plaintiffs argued in their briefing on their motion for summary judgment: “When the Second Amendment’s plain text covers an individual’s conduct, the Constitution presumptively protects that conduct. The government must then justify its regulation by demonstrating that it is consistent with the Nation’s historical tradition of firearm regulation.”
“We’re continuing to look back over several cases to determine which courses of action can be followed in the aftermath of the court’s June ruling,” Gottlieb acknowledged. “The importance of the Bruen decision cannot be overstated.
“Our mission is not about promoting gun ownership, but protecting rights,” he observed. “For decades, liberal anti-gun politicians and activist judges have pushed legislation and issued decisions that have combined to erode rights protected by the Second Amendment. We are determined to win firearms freedom one lawsuit at a time.”

The history says we could buy firearms when, where and how ever we wanted too.
As long as you had the money.
I do not believe any modern firearm law from 1900 on is able to stand up to history, tradition and plain meaning.
More cases, more law suits coming.
But the again anti’s always lie.
Absolutely Correct thus civilian disarmament proponents lose,as they will with every case brought after the Bruen decision.
When the Marine Corps first put a M-14 in my hands I was 17. I was 17 when they put a M-16A1 in my hands. I did not have the right to vote at that time. At 18 years and 6 months I was sent to a distant war with not only a M-14 and .45 but with a high powered radio linked to big gray boats with big guns and aircraft with big bombs. I had artillery batteries and battalions on the hook awaiting my call for fire. I still did not have the vote. So riddle me this:… Read more »
The bottom line for all of the Contra constitutional statutes, policies, laws, are centered around 1 singular insane paradigm: Taking the exception to the rule and forcing it upon the majority. Basically, taking what a handful of insane people do and applying it as actions to the majority, when there is absolutely no evidence to support the extrapolation. Basically, it’s paper pushing bureaucrats in power demanding more power so they can control more people and force all those people, that would be us, to do what we are told and not talk back. Every single one of the founding fathers… Read more »
Considering the indoctrination our youth receives in public schools, I would prefer the 26th amendment be repealed and the age of majority set at 21. Despite the argument about “if you are old enough to carry a rifle and die for your country…” you certainly did not carry your M-14 into San Clemente or Oceanside when you were on leave. And today’s military is all volunteer so even they may not need a carve out. But thank you for your service non-the-less.
Because giving kids the vote meant more electoral success and power for liberal fatcat pols. Whereas letting you own guns and drink didn’t put a dime in their pockets. And you will notice… the kids can no longer drink.
If you were unsure of the global agenda here it is engraved in granite it reads and singles the depopulation of the world to 500,000,000 While some of the “guides” are self-explanatory, others are open to discussion and interpretation. The rich variety of interpretations evoked by the Guidestones has likewise caused much controversy and debate to swirl around the hidden or intended meanings of the messages. According to the Guidestones, the following ten principles are offered to ensure humankind’s future survival: 1. Maintain humanity under 500,000,000 in perpetual balance with nature. 2. Guide reproduction wisely — improving fitness and diversity.… Read more »
An 18-20 year old is an adult in American society and law under every definition (able to marry without parental consent, able to enter armed service without parental consent, able to enter into contracts, cast ballot, etc)… except when it applies to firearms and ammunition, alcohol consumption, and nicotine consumption in many states. If an 18-20 year old is an adult citizen then they deserve all rights and protections afforded any other adult citizen. If they are not adult citizens then they are classified as minors and fall under the parent/child definition and should be treated accordingly as well as… Read more »
Older folks especially the conservatives are the ones who have had no issue creating subclasses of people when it comes to guns. If conservatives let the government say that a criminal has no right to live or protect their family, which is what denying them a gun is saying, then why can’t the liberals use that tyranny by law on all of us. I have to break the gun free zone laws to make sure my wife and kids are safe. I m from the West so I would not be polite or comply to a socialist cop, trying to… Read more »
Being an older (52) citizen (though not a conservative by definition) I am an exception to the generalization, as are the older (50+) conservatives I know. Denying the rights of firearm ownership to violent malum en se crimes, beyond incarceration, has always approved by all political spectrums and I concur full heartedly. Continued rights denial of non violent malum prohibitum crimes, beyond incarceration, is an affront against said offenders rights and they must be reinstated once societal debt is paid. But the world we live in… where the majority is willing to surrender their rights, and forcibly subdue the rights… Read more »
The only answer I can come up with is this: Progressive and leftist societies are built upon a caste system. In order to have an effective caste system you need to categorize and organize people but do so not for their advantage but for the advantage of the governing caste. So sending 18 year old Americans to one or more of our many perpetual wars is good for business but not necessarily good for the deployed. But they do not care. They just want you to take your shots and keep your pie hole shut. And they call this progress.
The inscriptions on the Guidestones are meant for current and future generations. Sandblasted along the square capstone sitting atop the structure is the basic message: “Let these be guidestones to an age of reason,” in Babylonian cuneiform, Egyptian hieroglyphics, Sanskrit, and classical Greek. The four granite slabs, each weighing 42,137 pounds and standing more than sixteen feet in height, list ten “guides” for mankind in eight different languages. The languages represented on the four major stones are Arabic, Chinese, English, Hebrew, Hindi, Russian, Spanish, and Swahili. The engraved messages can be subdivided into four major areas: governance and the establishment… Read more »
Someone blew up part of the Guide Stones the other night and they were demolished yesterday, I believe. Thank God!
We can only hope that this is the beginning of the wake movement where the country opens its eyes wide and sees the enemy in plain site. That is the 545 elected in Washington.
Should be EJECTED in Washington.
The good new of the day The Georgia Guide Stones have been attacked and partially destroyed. The stones carried the message of Agenda 21-2030 and the fate of humanity. For years I have been telling americans about these stones today it would seen the fight to take our country back has begun.

I got my first gun when I was 10. (That doesn’t include the assortment of BB guns previously.) When I’d get home from school I’d strap on my 22 pistol, grab my 22 rifle and head for the woods. No one thought anything about it.
My first real gun experience was a Constitutionally owned automatic .22lr in 1990. Dad and I could here automatic gun fire from a mile away from the range. The guy started to pack up.his full auto guns when he saw another truck come in the blm range. Dad went over and talked with him, and then called me over. It was awesome to shoot a 100 banana magazine at full milk cartons. I found out what my dad had said to put the man at ease, when my dad gave me a Glock to carry the last two years of… Read more »
These prohibitions have always flown in the face of equal protection in my eyes.
Do the rest of the age groups have the voting power to trample the rights of one three-year age group? Of course we do. Is that OK?
Should be a resounding no.
Let’s not forget that the Dems are pushing to lower the voting age (voting is a RIGHT) to 16. So if htey have one right at 16, it follows that they should have ALL rights at 16, including the Right to own arms.
