The Committee members voted to table the bill for the year by a margin of ten to five. The bill currently will not see a vote in the full Senate this year.

This afternoon the Virginia House of Delegates voted 51 – 48 in favor of passing House Bill 961, Delegate Mark Levine’s (D-45) “assault firearm” and suppressor ban.
Tuesday, the Virginia House of Delegates passed HB 961, Governor Northam’s ban on so-called “assault weapons”, standard capacity magazines and suppressors.
The latest “Assault Weapons” scam from Gov. Northam and Delegate Levine does nothing to change GOA’s firm opposition to HB 961. Gun confiscation is still the goal.

But, there is one bill of importance that has not been heard – HB961 – the Northam vehicle for banning modern sporting rifles, standard capacity magazines, and suppressors.
The remaining “Assault Weapon ” ban bill, HB 961, will either be heard on Friday or it will be dead. We have to assume it will be heard and need a strong turnout to oppose this monstrosity.

Del. Levine explained his bill to ban so-called “assault weapons” and “extended magazines” would reduce murders, just like he claims it did with the Assault Weapons Ban of 1994. Except, he is wrong.

There are still a number of bad gun bills awaiting action in the Senate Judiciary Committee, as well as in the House including HB961 – Governor Northam’s so-called “assault weapons” bill.
Virginia Democrats, on the other hand, slinked by, heads down, only quick glances, and hurried into the tunnel. Not one Democrat came over. It was a long walk of shame, for them.
